I'm a bit curious - did this just taste like diet coke, or was it something else?
>>
It tasted more like Coke Zero but not exactly the same.

I quite liked tab, but didn't it have estrogen?
>>
>>22038662
It was cola-ish, and had more/worse aftertaste than anything diet today.

>>22038753
>tfw I never tried them back in the day

It was actually fucking nasty. Basic flavor was similar to RC Cola, which is on the sharper end of colas, with so much saccharine in it to try and get it to sweeten up it made it bitter with one hell of an afterbite. It was trash but if you wanted a diet cola there nothing else at the time. Once other soft drinks came out that used something other than saccharine everybody went to those and never looked back until nostalgia kicked in.

hi op i just want you to know i just showed my actual boomer mother your post because that bitch LOVES tab. we had a framed photo of tab in my house, one of the old 80s ads. she continued buying cases of tab after it was discontinued and then even years later would buy expired cans for $40 each just to open one on her birthday like a fine wine. she is in groups for tab lovers where they obsessively hunted down where it was still sold (they have it in vegas and atlanta at the global coke fountains or did, not sure if anymore since they removed it from disney). i grew up drinking tab and not diet coke or any other diet soda.

i can tell you she would fist fight you for even asking.
>>22038683
she refuses to drink this but i think they are pretty similar. tab does not taste like diet coke or any other diet drink though coke zero is closer than most. tab had saccharin and for some reason it tasted slightly salty to me with a specific but difficult to describe artificial sweetener aftertaste. saltier and a bit sour but in a tangy-sweet way. i have never had a soda that tastes similarly and dislike diet soda and most other soda except for fun shit like squirt or mezzo mix. for what it is worth, she also loved beverly. bought her a shirt with the logo on it one time.

oh boomer tab devotee mother also loved these. she loves the taco flavor in the old school bag too, but what she is really obsessed with are these fucking chicken and waffle lays. it has been like 10 years and she still whines she cant find them. i keep buying her other chicken and waffle flavored things like the protein chips they make of it but she takes one bite, starts fake sniffling for effect, and whines that it just isnt the same and wont eat anymore. wahmen, whaddya gonna do

thanks anon! she laughed at that and we did. :) not kidding about the tab either, pic related. that first one is some custom watch strap she likes to wear with her other tab gear.
>tfw mother might be autistic?

back on the thread topic, i used to love those kraft bagel-fuls for breakfast as a kid, the strawberry cream cheese kind. do they still make uncrustables? the cheese kind were pretty good. they had that same kind of cheese as the nacho lunchables (best slightly microwaved to warm the cheese) and the orange hormel microwavable canned cups of mac and cheese. it was soupy in a strangely delightful way.

It was bad and I mean fucking BAD. Most people have forgotten just how sickeningly sweet/chemical-tasting saccharine was.

It's not dead, but sometimes I just want a 20 oz bottle of Mellow Yellow. But all Coke sells are different flavors of Coke or Fanta. There's still the 12 pack, but in small stock, and I fear they're trying to phase it out. I think it taste better than Mountain Dew. Mellow Yellow still has a variety of flavors that can be found in the Freestyle fountain machines, with Citrus Twist being my favorite.
>>
>>22039177
I only ever drank this when I went to Subway. I'd have a $5 footlong and a Mello Yello.
>>
>>22038662
Best can design, unique flavor. I miss that little cola nigga like you wouldn't believe.
>>
>>22038757
>late night cheeseburger
what the fuck did that flavor even mean?
>>
>>22039292
You're too drunk to remember I don't like ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or pickles on my cheeseburger. So you just get a standard burger and eat it reluctantly but it's pretty good
>>
>>22038662
>>22038683
It didn't taste like either. It used saccharine, and had that weird sickly sweet aftertaste.
>>
A personal sign I see that we are in a recession is that RC Cola is taking up more shelf space at my local grocery store now which I thought was a dead brand
>>
>>22039292
there was a period in the 2000s/early 2010s where taco bell called it's late night food "4th meal" since they were open very late and if you stayed up long enough to get hungry again you could get another meal at taco bell. These doritos were piggybacking off of that taco bell ad campaign.

aka the peak of society. we had 24 hour stores and restaurants and $1 value menus. if only we knew how good we had it

It was just sweet, but viscous. You couldn't perceive the little colored bits as a separate thing like with bubble tea.

For me, it's Josta

original coke zero.
all the replacements suck.
I still don't understand why coca cola thought it was so bad to have coke zero be popular among men, and diet coke popular among women.
>>
>>22039689
I can tell this was primarily targeted towards black people
>>
>>22040596
that's what all of 90s advertising looked like. processed food in particular, especially aimed at children.
>>
>>22040599
>black panther
>vaguely African decorative motifs and lettering
nah I'm sticking with my assessment it was for the Kangol+dashiki-wearing urban youth demographic.
>>
>>22039036
I miss it every single day
>>
>>22040609
yeah. and i'm telling you that's what all 90s advertising looked like. african revival and tribal shit was huge as were all forms of rap, hip hop, and r&b. 90s was a very proud black woman decade which extended in a slight form into the early 2000s as aesthetics became very white but music much blacker and more specifically ghetto, crunk, autotuned shake that ass etc. the 2010s were white in reaction but were also the age of performative liberal guilt and wokewashing into the late 2010s which, when merged with covid, have made the 2020s aggressively adopt black slang but have since dropped many black aesthetics. hipsterdom was aggressively white as was twee and the entire epic bacon beard period. asian ones have overtaken since the mid 2010s.

Sugar free bubble gum in a can. That's exactly what it tasted like.

I still can't believe they were discontinued. Pic related was the only thing good about Fembusters. My soul for this and Keeblers Pizzarias.
