What's the most you have spent on a single meal? What was it? Was it worth it?
>>
A couple years ago i treated myself to 9 pieces of nigiri of various fish, vegetable tempura, and miso soup for my birthday. I only spent $40 USD, but it was pretty expensive for one working class fellow like me. Also, I'd been hiking all day and was hungry as fuck.

They should have never gotten rid of Farmer John as the supplier
>>
$50 on linguine with salmon and macaroni and cheese at some generic Italian chain at the airport
I was so hungry
It was so not worth it
>>
>>22040021
I haven't treated myself in years shit is just so expensive now. I might swing through Las Vegas this year and am willing to do a nice buffet like 75 bucks if that exists. I paid 100 ish for a plate 5 years ago in North Cali. It was a nice place. That's probably the most ever. I can remember feeling absolutely jewed at some mountain lodge places but never a hundo bill.

I'm willing to pay 50 dollars for a nice steak dinner, but Texas Roadhouse with all the other hillbilly trash isn't a nice dinner.
>>
500 dollars total for a fancy dinner at an overpriced asian fusion place on the beach. Not close to the best meal I've ever had, it was just alright but I expected that going in.

Slop is not even food.
Come on!
SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT!
SLOP IS NOT FOOD!
It's something else.

never really spent much on any single meal but one time while in one of the Stan countries i arrived sick and tired in a big city, found the best hotel there, haggled the price down to $100USD (this is nearly 20 years ago) then lived the whole next day on what i took from the breakfast buffet.

best i can offer.

>>22040021
Probably a steak dinner at Alluvia. Those were always expensive nights. I've been to more expensive places but not when I was paying.
>>
>>22040024
Sounds comfy, I bet all that physical activity before made it taste extra good
>>
Single, came out to $35 after tax and tip, carrabbas chicken trio, caesar salad, cup of minestrone, bread all to go
got to graze on it for 2 days. slice of bread early on, bite of chicken bryan a couple hours later. Dunk the next bread slice into soup, eat most of the salad for dinner.
portions have changed in 18 years

>i want to be chewing and swallowing continuously for 45 minutes straight

That AND it went down very easily and quickly despite being a lot of protein. I also enjoyed the not-so ostentatious flavor of the whole meal.

>Italian chain at the airport
This, i don't remember the food that well but espresso was the worst i ever had and more expensive than boutique specialty cafes.
>>

That's like 3 potatoes.

>I've been to more expensive places but not when I was paying.
nice. a nice chinese guy invited me and my wife to a very fancy restaurant in Datong once, and that must have cost a bit. very beautifully presented dishes and he ordered a lot.
>>
>>22040693
>all that physical activity before made it taste extra good
it really does. me and the wife hit a couple all you can eat sushi joints when we were biking across the US and you really cant beat the joy of endless quality fish plus bbq cooked at the table.

That looks nasty tbqdesu
To answer you though, i spent $700 for a sea fishing trip. Caught just two snappers that we had for dinner. Most expensive fish dinner ever
I’m forever salty because the captain set up our rods for smaller fish saying he thought the tarpon weren’t in the area. I baited two fish big enough to snap the lines within the first 20 minutes, and then nothing for hours after he rigged up heavier lines.
Fresh snapper was great though, grilled it up nice

Mine isn't a huge amount but it was like 15 years ago, my dad came home drunk from the neighborhood poker game one time with several hundred dollars in hand and in a happy mood. My wife and I were dating at the time and he came in, handed me two $100 bills and said "take your girl somewhere nice!" So we went out to dinner at some fancy and expensive restaurant. We spent $180 on dinner for two. They brought out thimble sized portions of food, and while it tasted good we were sort of like wtf that's it? Afterwards we went to Wendy's and got a couple of cheeseburgers and agreed we should have just pocketed the money and done that in the first place.

We've never gone anywhere expensive since, and my wife routinely jokes about how fucking stupid fancy restaurants are.

200 bucks tax and tip included for a celebratory meal at Hugo's Cellar in Vegas. Had tenderloin Oscar style with side giant scallops, additional charge for two Manhattans, lobster bisque and an espresso, meal included bread plate, salad, sorbet palate cleanser and a few chocolate covered fruits for dessert. I had also gone to a strip club prior but still went home +8000 so it felt worth it at the time. This is like 2011 prices at Hugo's, it's more expensive now but it's still a pretty good value for a steakhouse meal with all the inclusives you don't normally get at that type of place. Bob's Steak and Chophouse just gives you a big carrot.

You couldnt afford it

fancy 5 course meal with a funny steak medallion. the chef did some retarded foie gras with toasted coconut abomination puree, it was fucking nasty.

$450 on a tasting menu with wine pairing at a Michelin starred Indian restaurant, Musaafer in Houston.
All of the courses and wines were good, really good even, but not /that/ good. And in case you're wondering "how well can wine even pair with Indian food...?" like I was, the answer is "not very well". Nothing was particularly interesting either which was the more disappointing part. A lot more hype than substance at that particular restaurant. Honestly, I find a quality take out biriyani and butter chicken from a nice humble Indian place to be more satisfying than that meal was, and I'm far from one of the "hurr durr fine dining is for pretentious retards! you have to go to mcdonalds after because they only give you five morsels of food!" dumb fucks you see on /ck/ every time the subject comes up.
The other less expensive Michelin places I've been to have all lived up to my expectations.
>>
>>22041135
how do you michelin-ify indian food anyways? gold leaf biryani and ewe butter chicken?
>>
>>22040021
I like to order $70 worth of chinese food for myself on a friday night and chow down while gaming and shit posting

$350 cad for me and my gf at a place in Montreal

I can't describe the food. I know my date got lamb chops. We both had squash soup. Drank water only... Bread came in a basket. Some meat (?) paste on small round bread with cranberry droplets on the plate...

I'm just as happy with $5 meals I cook at home (noodles and seasoning)

Hey don't talk shit on the Roadhouse
They have an early bird menu 13.99 for an entree and 2 sides. I got a 6oz sirloin with mushrooms, a cup of chili and fries and my mom got a massive chicken fried chicken, loaded baked potato and green beans. That + bread + peanuts. We were both incredibly satisfied for less than a fast food meal.
>>
>>22040021
Somewhere around 200$ last month for a dinner for me and three family memebers. Had the burger menu (four different burgers) and drinks. Not really, I am a chef by trade and it waa average.

~$450 for a 5 course meal + wine pairing flight. It was the best food I've ever had and a one time thing so I'd say so

>What's the most you have spent on a single meal?
I think it was like $330? Something like that. It's been a while, so inflate that some for current year prices.

> What was it?
Steak dinner, filet from Hokkaido, mash, carrots, with lobster bisque, wine, and ice cream. I probably have the photo of it buried on a hard drive somewhere.

>Was it worth it?
FUCK YES. Perfect steak experience. Only did it once because all the stars aligned for the steak cut to be available, plus I was on travel. I can sort of approximate it at home now, but sourcing the meat is a nightmare.

Technically not the best lobster bisque, it's 2nd best. There is some random Florida spot that had the best and I do not remember who or where it was, only it was on the way back from the keys. Chef there did some wizardry to make it look near pure white instead of the usual tomato-cream color the soup will be.

THIS
Indian food is poor people food. Only way to improve it is throw fancy ingredients at it and remove the shit. That will never reach triple digit value even if you get some fancy air chilled chicken and cow massaged butter.

Poor guy got scammed. Definitely a DEI Michelin star. Just like an African restaurant would be if they got one (their food sucks ass, I've been).

I like to laugh at the ignorance sometimes, it almost has the starry-eyed innocence of a child whose brain hasn't fully developed.

I went for a meal with my family and offered to pay. We were at a place called Wagamama, a popular British restaurant chain that serves East Asian food. The food was absolutely terrible. Noodles covered in inauthentic, strange sauces. Another noodle dish that was literally just plain noodles with bits of fried vegetable thrown on top (that was over a tenner as well, I remember). Ribs that had been rushed on a grill and were rock hard. It was awful, but then the bill came. For four people it cost £80. That was about ten years ago now, and we've never eaten together anywhere except Wetherspoons since. I would be happy to spend £80+ for a nice meal but the fact that such absolute low effort low quality shit costs that miuch money is a sacrilege and I will never do it again.
>>
$130 something including tip at a decent local steak place with my gf. The wine was what really boosted the price a bit.
