should i go to Connecticut to try this New Haven 'apizza' stuff or is it mid?im well acquainted with NJ/NY pizza just never had that new haven stuff
>>22046351if you make pizzas at home, you could try to find a recipe online for it and make it yourself instead of having to travel across states
>>22046351what distinguishes it as new haven style
>>22046351You should just go to your grave knowing that you're a faggot.
>>22046390the use of coal i think plays a big part>>22046392no rush on that>>22046388>cookingno i dont really do that plus this seems to require some special equipment to do right
>>22046351>>22046388I'm a Euro and I'll probably make the white clam pie someday but with vongole
If you're on your way through the area or need to go to New Haven for a work trip or something, then yeah. If you don't live close, I wouldn't book a trip just for the pizza. There's not that much to do in the area besides that. If you want to stop at one place I'd recommend Modern Apizza. Nobody actually says the word "apizza," you just see it on signs.>>22046390It's similar to New York-style but is usually cooked longer so there's less flop and more char. Most places are coal-fired but you also find wood and gas. If it looks burnt to you, you're not going to like it. Traditionally, it was just tomato with mozzarella considered a topping but nowadays if you order plain they know you want cheese. It's also known for white pizzas topped with clams. A lot of people get white clam with bacon, although I like it with cherry peppers. The only place making their pizza with fresh-shucked clams in Zuppardi's in West Haven AFAIK. There's also BAR pizza that's pretty famous for their large format mashed potato pizza, but that's hardly unique to New Haven.
>>22046531i want it
>>22046531>nobody actually says the work "apizza"I live in Connecticut and I can assure you the a is silent, the faggots around here say it like apeetz all the fucking time. I wouldn't go to New Haven if you paid me, but Colony Grill is good shit and they got a place open in Florida now, so you don't even have to go to that shithole to get good pizza boss.
New Haven pizza is one of the biggest scams going. For some reason they don’t season the thing so it just tastes like a thin burnt piece of cardboard with tomato paste on it.
>>22046409This sounds expletive but it isn't.
>>22046351Fuck what everyone else in the thread recommends: BAR PIZZA is the best pizza place in new haven. Their normie stuff is good and they also have specialty ones (bacon and mashed potatoes) that are fucking incredible. Pepe’s clam bullshit is dogshit DO NOT GO.source: I went to Yale and am fat
>>22047095>BAR PIZZA is the best pizza place in new haven and it’s a very low bar indeed.
>>22047104It’s genuinely really good, idk what to tell youI 100% agree that most New Haven pizza is overhyped, but Bar Pizza is still the best I’ve ever had (and now I’m in NYC, for whatever that’s worth)
