I thought Papa John's was supposed to be decent? It was one of the big three competing with Pizza Hut and Domino's. I understand these are all meant to be cheap, mass produced pizzas, but they had a certain consistent quality that you could count on. It's not the best pizza. You just knew you'd get a reasonable amount of toppings, it would be hot, fast, inexpensive. Instead...>order for pickup>sparse toppings>somehow a pickup order is cold>it's expensive>pizza quality doesn't seem like it would be nearly as good as domino or pizza hut even if it was hotDid it used to be better? I swear I recall having a Papa John's pizza years ago and it was pretty good.I picked it up and it was just one redditor working there by himself. Maybe it's the location?
>>22047460>Did it used to be better?Yes.
>>22047484This makes me sad. Papa J used to be so good. Me and the boys would get it every weekend while we played halo and Cod
>>22047460>my experience is only experience.
>>22047484I did get NY style crust because XL. btw XL isn't very big there. Much smaller than the box too >>22047500Why do you think I asked, Albert Epstein?
>I thought Papa John's was supposed to be decentHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHO THE FUCK TOLD YOU THAT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I spend several years in a foreign country for the past couple decades. Every time I come back to America, papa John's is one of the foods I look forward to the most. There is a noticeable a decline
>>22047484Papa Johns used to be one of the better chain 'zas ~12 years ago. Now, I can buy a frozen pizza at Aldi and it mogs the big three (PJ, Hut, Dominoes). Picrel is 5 bucks.
>>22047624Rising crust frozen pizza always has too much dough. Freschetta, digiorno, whatever the fuck they're called suck. Give me a thinner red baron or Tony's any day.
>>22047641Those brands steadily lowered the quality of their ingredients so much that you take a bite now and taste literally nothing. If you eat a pepperoni and it tastes like air, something has gone horrifically wrong.
>>22047619>papa John's is one of the foods I look forward to the mostNo matter how long I’ve been on this site some retard always figures out the most sad pathetic string of words I have ever had the displeasure of reading.
>>22047624nah, whatever you want to say about the chain pizzas they still fully ferment and rise their dough before shaping and baking. partially set stuff sucks.
>>22047687You look at OP's picture and you tell me there's a god. It doesn't matter how fresh and real their dough is when that's the end product. Trust me, I've ordered from all of them in the past two years, and if you did a blind taste test, you wouldn't even know that you're eating pizza anymore.
>>22047671I think you'd be surprised what you're comfort foods really are if you live without even typical western groceries for years.
>>22047687The problem is usually that they ferment and rise too long
>>22047460>I thought Papa John's was supposed to be decent?you think marketing is real?
>>22047704>if you did a blind taste test, you wouldn't even know that you're eating pizza anymorei can tell the difference.it's very noticeable.
>>22047460>Papa John's>decentnever happened.Their big innovation was leeching off EBT/SNAP or whatever your state calls its "food stamps" program. It's illegal to buy precooked meals on EBT, but since PJ is "take and bake" they fall into the "not precooked" category that is eligible for purchases by welfare leeches.
>>22047460they used to be alright, but in like 2023 or so, i got one that tasted horrifically sour. probably shouldn't have eaten it, because sure enough, i got sick.i don't think i'll eat there again.
>>22047460>I thought Papa John's was supposed to be decent? You are not very smart.
>>22047460What's stopping you from making your own pizza instead of eating slop?
>>22047460I used to live near one and would routinely eat it. Was pretty good. Now the closest one is like 40 minutes away so I havent eaten it in like a decade.I happened to be near one last friday and bought it. It was unironically the worst of the pizza chains. Even Little Caesars is above it. Its rough now
>>22047953That’s papa Murphy
>>2204761615 years ago it was true. I guess it's still engrained in some people's mind.
>>22047460a carryout 1 topping large from Papa John's is $9 and Papa John's gives you $1 back for every $10 you spend. My Papa John's location is inconsistent but when it's at its best it is the best "hand tossed" style pizza of the big 4 chains.
>>22047958Having a job drains you of your soul. I just want comfort food
>>22048028also my Domino's location is the most consistently good (significantly better than the next closest Domino's) so I still go there more than anyone else even though Papa John's is better about half the time
