So I had a friend come over recently. She asked if she could have some toast, so of course I obliged. I made her two pieces, then as soon as she was finished she asked for two more. Being a gracious host, I of course completed the request, but I thought it was rude as fuck. I would never go to somebody else's house and as for four slices of toast, that's too much. If I was given one slice of toast I might ask for another and that would not feel rude to me, but four slices of toast is taking the fucking piss. Four slices of toast is too high of a percentage of a loaf to take. I wouldn't even make myself four pieces of toast. What I want to know, is my toast etiquette way off, or am I being reasonable? I must stress, I made the toast without complaining, I just felt this rage inside that I'm still thinking about. How much toast is too much toast to request from a host?
>>
>>22050845
Are you really butthurt over less than 50 cents of bread? How fucking poor are you?
>>
>>22050845
I'd only be upset, because I think it's rude to visit someone and ask for food.
>>
>>22050845
Wtf is toast etiquette? Some asinine Europoor nonsense?
>>
>>22050850
I am poor actually, I live off of toast at the minute. I would also never ask another person for four slices of bread, that's greedy as fuck, two should be sufficient.

>>22050851
Same, I would only ever take food if offered.

>>22050867
It's what I would use to describe what I'm talking about. It's etiquette relating to toast, so toast etiquette, it's not something I've ever heard another person say, but there are unwritten rules about what is acceptable for guests to ask. I think this was rude guest behaviour.
>>
>>22050845
It is a large percentage of the bread, but she is saying your toast is so good she would rather risk the social faux pas of consuming an inordinate percentage of your loaf to enjoy a few more slices. It's a compliment really. Whenever i host my friends i try to indulge them where i can whether is be good, alcohol or squeezing their perky and large tits
>>
>>22050845
Are you fucking Dutch
>>
>>22050883
I did make really good toast that night, I did it exactly how she liked it and introduced her to a topping she'd never had before. I prefer your way of looking at it. I did not let her know I was annoyed, I just made her more toast because being a good host matters to me. But for some reason this has been sitting with me, I've questioned whether I'm a cunt for being mad and whether or not I need to change how I think.

>>22050885
British. Do the Dutch have a big toast culture?
>>
Autism speaks.
Are you listening?
>>
>>22050869
>I live off of toast at the minute
Do you really? If so maybe you’re upset she asked so freely for something that’s a necessity for you right now, which I’m guessing she may not have known about.

I’m sure like you I try to be a generous host, but if someone asks for a lot of something that’s comparatively expensive I’d be annoyed at the lack of consideration
>>
>>22050845
>that's too much
calm down.
>>22050869
>I am poor actually, I live off of toast at the minute
then how do you afford an internet connection.
maybe get offline and have $80/month more for food instantly.
>>
>>22050909
She doesn't know how hard things have been recently, and I didn't want to let my lack of finances be a barrier to providing a guest with what they want. It did put me in a bit of a panic because two slices of toast is a whole meal for me at the moment. I didn't mind at all sharing with her once, but twice was actually a real threat to what I'm going to be able to eat over the next few days. I have all of my bills covered, but some unexpected financial disasters have cropped up over the last few months which has meant I'm poorer than I should be. None of this is her responsibilty, which is why I still made the toast. I've just never had anyone ever ask for four slices before. I know it's not really that big of an issue, but I've been reflecting on what particularly fucked me off so much about it. Also, last night she actually called me to ask where I purchased the topping I used from, so it's clearly stuck with her. Before I became super broke I stocked up because it's a limited edition, so I told her I'll give her one of my jars because she doesn't live near the shop that sells this stuff. So usually, I'm happy to share, I'm happy to be generous which is why this incident has stuck in my head so much.
>>
>>22050889
>British
A loaf of bread costs 74p. There are 16 slices in a loaf. So that's about 18p's worth of bread. You utterly fucking desperate cunt. May as well end it mate, you're completely fucked.
>>
>>22050845
It all depends on how well you know this girl.

It's the law in Britain to offer a cup of tea and maybe some biscuits to a guest (I'm British, so don't question me).

If you didn't know her that well, I might be a bit peeved if she asked for toast as well, let alone a second round but I would probably do it anyway, maybe with a funny comment like " Is there a toast shortage where you live?"

If I knew her (or him) well I wouldn't have a problem . . . .I certainly wouldn't take to a Cambodian Puppet Forum to complain about it.

>>22050934
I'm not sure if the OP is really British (lot's of anons pretend to be for rage-baiting)
>>
>>22050929
Maybe this was a convenient focusing point for general anger you’ve been feeling about the current financial hardships. That’s very nice of you to offer her a jar of the topping, and I hope you soon have prosperity
>>
>>22050845
>So
So what?
>>
>>22050957
Sew buttons
>>
>>22050934
Her having four slices led to ten slices going because she wasn't the only guest, she just initiated proceedings. I'd bought that bread in advance, budgeted meals, I didn't have any more money to buy more food.

>>22050938
So I've been to her house loads of times, this was the first time she's been to mine. I offered her refreshments, but when I go to hers she does not offer me anything, all she has to drink is water and she never has any food in. She is a povvo to a much higher degree than me and I understand that, so I don't expect anything from her. But she comes round to mine for the first time, and has two rounds of toast. And it was after 11pm, which one round of toast sure, but two rounds after 11pm? That's fucking insane. You might not think about discussing this, but I hold myself to a high standard and I'm bothered about how bothered I am about this.

>>22050940
I'm glad she liked it so much, and I'm happy to share, this is why I questioned why I was so butthurt about two rounds of toast. Next pay I'll be back to normal, thank you for your well wishes. It's just been a hard few months, I think you're right about where the anger came from. I've been so stressed, the fridge broke and I have a kid, I'm making sure the kid has everything he needs, but it's meaning I'm skipping meals to make sure he's okay. I don't want him to feel how bad it is right now and I don't have anyone I can turn to for financial help. I've just had so much bad luck recently and that moment with the toast was a real low point. I want to be a gracious host, but that meant a day without food for me.
>>
>>22050977
Sending you well wishes, anon

>Her having four slices led to ten slices going because she wasn't the only guest, she just initiated proceedings. I'd bought that bread in advance, budgeted meals, I didn't have any more money to buy more food.
OK, so 46p. You're not going to make it. Game over I'm afraid.
>>
>>22050980
Thank you

>>22050981
I don't see how being a fat cunt makes her a giga-chad. No female should eat four slices of toast. A man could have four slices if over 5'10", but a 5'3" female does not ever need four slices of toast.

>>22050983
I don't get what you don't get, my bank balance was £0.00, it doesn't matter how cheap bread is if you literally don't have the money to buy more until next week.
>>
>>22050991
No food banks or community cafes around where you live?
>>
>>22050991
>my bank balance was £0.00
Just...buy more money?
>>
>>22050996
I don't actually know, I'm usually okay so I've never needed one before.

>>22050998
Damn, why didn't I think of that sooner?
>>
>>22050991
Why are you inviting people over to your house if you're literally so poor you can't afford food lmao
>>
>>22051003
>I don't actually know, I'm usually okay so I've never needed one before.

If you're that desperate (and you are if you need every morsel to subsist, having 'blown' your budget on it) then you'll be entitled to vouchers to use at the food bank. Community cafes will give you a free meal, especially with a kid. These are the first things you should've looked up on using the internet - that you've paid for - when the girl in question ruined your day's eating. I can only think that you're a bit of an idiot.
>>
>>22050845
Depends on the color of the friend.
>>
>>22051004
She tried to an hero, no hospital would admit her, but the police wouldn't release her to her home, so she elected to come to mine. I said yes because I didn't want her to rope. She got blue lighted to mine at like 10pm.

>>22051012
I was supporting someone who had literally just tried to rope, I wasn't immediately thinking of myself and how I was going to procure more food. I'm used to fasting regularly so I just planned to fast through it. It was a pretty high pressure situation and I wasn't going to deny someone who had just tried to kill themselves some toast because it meant I wouldn't be able to have some.

Kek
How can you afford a room to store the toast
>>
>>22051037
Then why the FUCK are you complaining about it? Given the situation you just described, why would you even spend the time posting this thread?

You're a fucking idiot. And obviously nearly as much of a desperado as she is. Stop spending your money on illegal narcotics and you'll have a bit of spare money.
>>
>>22051037
>she literally just tried to rope herself
>how dare she not consider toast etiquette at this time
wew lad. you're a wretched creature.
>>
>>22051039
Rents paid, all bills are paid, there's just nothing much left after that at the minute due to a series of unfortunate events that drained finances. Multiple big ticket items broke all at the same time and they had to be replaced to run a functional home. I'm not just eating toast, I'm having soups and beans and shit like that with the bread/toast. I'd budgeted fine and had enough food, it is a paupers diet at the minute but it's not going to be like this forever. From next pay I'll be fully back to normal and I'll be able to have nice food again, I'm just going through a hard time and food is more expensive than it used to be.

>>22051041
I'm not, I've been under undue financial stress, I didn't realise all of this was going to come up, I just thought that eating 4 slices of toast was fat fuck behaviour and wanted to know what other people thought.

>>22051049
I gave her the toast, I looked after her, I didn't complain to her. I just thought that four slices of toast after 11pm was fucking insane behaviour. Even if I had tried to rope I wouldn't have asked her for four slices of toast, or anybody else, that's greedy as fuck. I've never eaten four slices of toast in my life.
>>
>>22051037
She felt safe enough to stay with you and ask for more toast. Most women are too nervous to eat properly in front of men because they don't want to seem fat. Even my sister gets embarrassed when she gets really hungry around her husband because she doesn't want him to comment on how much she's eating. So she starves herself and pigs out during sleepovers with me.
In my culture, you're the asshole for not making sure your guest was full. They had to ask you for more. That's not being a good host.
>>
>>22050845

The life of a twink. The mind boggles.
>>
Must've been some good toast. She'll talk about it with her girlfriends, soon you will be the toast guy. Women will be at your feet, pleading for a crumb (literally).
>>
>>22051080
Two slices of toast should have been sufficient, I've never met a person who wasn't satisfied with two slices of toast. I gave her the toast, I made sure she was well fed, had she asked for two more I would have done her six had she asked. One time when I was round at hers she got a bunch of food out, I asked for some and she said no because she was going to eat it all. She has never offered me a drink, if I want anything besides water I have to buy it myself and bring it round. She once went mental at me because I forgot to throw an empty wrapper in the bin, but when I host I don't expect anybody to use the bin, I throw everything away for everybody and every other house I go to this is the general rule of hosting. She is a poor host when I go to hers, but she expects the exact opposite when she came to mine. I always try to be a gracious host, all of my snacks and all of my drinks are welcome to guests, but I personally would not ask a host for toast after 11pm, that's rude to me, let alone asking for two rounds.

>>22051082
I know that might be the case

>>22051084
How much toast are you eating? What the hell are you doing that you need more than two slices of toast?
>>
>>22051098
It was the perfect toast, she has it at the perfect level of toasted and the topping was delicious. So I do get that part, she even called me about it, so it must have been some of the best toast she ever had to still be thinking about it. And I'll never let her know I thought she was being excessive. If she comes around again I'd still do her four slices if she asks. But I will still think that's too much toast.
>>
>>22051104
>How much toast are you eating? What the hell are you doing that you need more than two slices of toast?
It's a couple of bits of bread mate. It's not a meal. It's a makeshift breakfast at best. I reckon you're about 22 years old and 5'8" at most, waist probably 26.
>>
>>22051119
I've had two slices of toast for breakfast my whole life and that's always been sufficient. I'm 31, I agree at my height I'm not tall enough to require more toast than two slices, but she's only 5'3". She's morbidly obese, always crying about it but refuses to do anything about it, in my eyes dropoing down to a normal amount of toast would be a start.
>>
A good trick is cutting the toast in half, so it looks like four pieces. Who would ask for four more?!
>>
Bro there is fucking food walking around all around you.

>>22051142

I did! I think that's what made it feel excessive to me.

>>22051157
Are you suggesting I should go kill a deer?
>>
>>22051162
She is not very bright, to a point it keeps causing conflict. I will lay out my schedule for the week to determine when we can meet. Then she'll message me on a day I'm busy and ask if I can come over, but I literally told her I couldn't do that day and then she'll get salty as fuck I can't come over, even though two days prior I laid my week out. I have been considering whether I want to remain friends, but now she's suicidal as fuck and I feel like I can't cut her off because then she might do something stupid. I don't want her to kill herself, but this friendship is becoming draining.
