ITT: Food memes you fell for

Salt is mostly unneeded in cooking especially if you are cooking with meats.

I'd say this was b8, but there's retarded niggers out there that think you could cover the taste of rancid meat with spices, and you sound like one of those halfwits.

the biggest and lamest meme of all: Thanksgiving

for me thanksgiving always was dry turkey and sides i had already been having all year with every meal (instant mashed potatoes and stuffing)

Pakistani pink salt. It is contaminated with all kinds of shit. Watch how they harvest and package it. A total rip off. Just get mexican sea salt or kosher.

Make a tea with bay leaf and see what it tastes like. Spoiler: it's not nothing.

>Yeah, why don't you just take four tablespoons of black pepper and snort it. You'll see how spicy it really is.
Ooookaaay
>>
>>22057857
What pisses me off about the pink salt is that you can barely tell it's pink unless you're using a shitload of it.
I don't care if it's not the best salt for cooking, the funny colour means it should be good as a finishing salt, but it just ISN'T.

you can, speaking from experience. depends how far expired it is though.

Salt is a easy mode/cheat for actual good cooking and seasoning.

That's also why I don't keep it in my homes. Many ingredients have a natural salt content.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful either. Pink Himalayan salt was an utter dud, so was Dubai chocolate.

Now there's a meat that's genuinely bottom tier. I get the whole remember-how-we-stole-the-country thing, it's not very different from Catholics eating shit bread every Sunday. But it's not a product anyone with half a brain should ever consider.

Anyone remember when chipotle-flavored things was all the rage? I swear it happened when the Chipotle chain started really taking off. All of a sudden you had chipotle chicken salad, chipotle dressing, chipotle this chipotle that.

Thankfully it's a versatile flavor that works in a lot of stuff.
>>
I love Dubai chocolate stuff

yeah I remember nobody even knew how to say the word chipotle. think it was like 2004 or 2005 when chipotle flavor started becoming frequent. also was around here time subway got chipotle sauce so if you can find out the date they introduced that sauce you could narrow down the time frame.

Dubai chocolate was a scheme by big pistachio to move product because there was a glut of pistachio on the market and prices were in the shitter.

There's no way the northern mediterranean can supply all the EVOO for even the US & Canada, to say nothing of the rest of the world. Just not enough olive plants can grow that much OO that quickly. It has to be a scan.

You get what you pay for.
Cheap brands aren't pure, even brands like bertoli are mixed.
You need the brands coming straight from Mediterranean farms.
If it has a kind off green color, smells like grass and has a sharp taste if you sip it should be legit.

This is the case for everything. If you buy any product from a regular supermarket your 95% scammed. I buy my meat straight from farms, so I know they're grass fed cows that aren't stuffed with crap. I get my fruit and veggies from local farmer.

Yes food takes a big hit in my paycheck but it's a long term investment into my health.
Besides, never in history has food ever been such a small part of the average pay check so I piss on people crying about food prices. Stop going on vacation 3 times a year and buying a new phone and car every few years Karen.

Check the country of origin. If they're from India they'll be tasteless because Indian bay leaves are very weak compared to European bay leaves. Indian Bay is not even the same species as Laurel Bay and it's bullshit they're even allowed to call them bay leaves

The coarse grind is nice for finishing dishes, but it adds nothing to the flavor. A cheaper flake salt would probably be better.

>yeah I remember nobody even knew how to say the word chipotle.
I remember Chipotle putting up signs that said "Chee-Poat-Lay" or something like that. Most people on /ck/ are just too young to remember when chipotle was considered a new flavor.

Hell I'm old enough to remember when chips and salsa were a novel thing in the US and salsa overtook ketchup in sales
>>

For me it always home grown potatoes, homemade stuffing, green been casserole from home grown green beans and a free range bird you have to pick up from some guy in a parking lot like a drug deal. Best meal of the year.

didn't the original guy release the old version after the jews stole it and changed it to be cheaper?

What are you talking about? Bacon is universally loved. Bacon became a meme fad briefly a while ago when they started putting it in everything like Sundays and on donuts and in cake and cookies and stuff, but that fad quickly passed just like the artisanal cupcake shop thing.
