What's a good, cheap, and filling vegetarian meal?
I volunteer at a homeless shelter twice a month with my Rotary Club, and while we can easily make trays of food en masse, there's usually one or two vegetarians. They're always nice about it, but I feel bad and want to feed them.
Any ideas? Something a little more fancy than a PB&J please
>>
Don't know it because trust me, it's delicious

Anyway you shouldn't be feeding Vagrants

This exact amount of mayonnaise in a salad would be considered healthy but because it's in a burger, everyone is losing their collective shit *eyerolls*
>>
Vegetarians or Vegans?
If they can eat eggs some spanish omelet is very filling.
Also is just oil eggs and potatoes.
>>
>>22059074
>not only coddling these worthless shitstains but actually making them special meals

pizza, baked pasta with cheese, black beans and scrambled eggs, cheese and bean burrito, grilled cheese sandwich, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, omelette, oatmeal with frozen berries and boiled eggs

I'm sure you, anonymous poster, solving captchas to get upset on an anime website, have contributed much more to society.
>>
>>22059074
i didn't know, thanks
>>
>>22059091
This, but pasta and beans. Faster to cook and harder to mess up.
>>
>>22059091
make the beans mixed, e.g. black + red. make the rice into spanish rice or fried rice. watch homeless start beating each other up to get your food.
>>
>>22059074
I hate to say this because it's easy to fall on bad times. But all of their food should be vegetarian. If you are living on the government or society's dime you shouldn't have something die so you can live. The only way they should get a meat product is if it's about to spoil or using a small amount as a seasoning. That said. Rice and beans. Bean chilli. Bean soup. Peanut soup. Some kind of tofu dish.

>What's a good, cheap, and filling vegetarian meal?
Chili can be done in a million ways that are both vegetarian and not awful. Once had it with small fried falafel balls instead of ground meat. Actually pretty OK.
>>
>>22059074
>homeless
>vegetarian
beggars... cannot... be... Choosers!!!! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!
>>
Biryani can be made in large amounts and is cheap as its mostly rice, I'm sure there's a veggie version you could make
>>
>>22059422
I don’t know why the homeless don’t just go into the woods and hunt small animals for an easy meal
>>
>>22059509
You need a license to hunt or it's illegal most of the time. Most homeless people end up with various issues that probably mean they wouldn't make great hunters anyway.
>>
>>22059509
Would you be interested in making a donation to the charity which I run? It's called "Guns for the Homeless" and it's a really good idea.

How strict vegetarian are they? If they're not vegan, then eggs and potatoes. Or even a Spanish omelet. Root vegetables are cheap as fuck at the moment. Throw in some carrots or squash into the mix.

I feel the same way, honestly.

And I put my fucking money where my mouth is. I write a check 4 times a year, 200 dollars, to the local food bank. It buys an astronomical amount of food. It helps feed working, struggling families, and they need it now more than ever, since corporations and the government mostly conspire to fuck the working class in the ass and pay them less and less for more work. I give my money to the food bank because they helped me when I was on hard times.

I would never donate to our local homeless shelter. I would never volunteer at one. Most homeless people who are functional people and determined are back on their feet in under 8 months. The rest of them are degenerate, drug addled, slobs that need intervention, but society refuses to do anything because we have a warped understanding of personal freedom in the US. As if a schizophrenic who reeks of shit and attacks people should have the right to self-determination.

The shelters I live at are run by woke retards. They do not force homeless people to improve themselves to become useful members of society. What they think is compassion only prolongs their mental and physical suffering, worsens their addictions, and brings more trauma to them, and enshittifes the community. The homeless shit, piss, and leave trash and camping equipment everywhere. Our city lets them wander the same streets where young people with money are enjoying themselves at bars, making them feel unsafe. The police, afraid of a politically scandalous incident, refuse to respond to homeless people acting out. are literally feral animals, with even less self-preservation than even the stupidest dog.

I do not contribute to shelters because they are a flawed system. The government spent 40 years mismanaging housing and socioeconomic policies. Maybe they should fucking step up and work on actually helping cities fix the issue at a federal level.

What a crock of fucking shit. What kind of retarded ass law is that shit. If a homeless man who is starving kills a goose or some shit to eat, I say let him. He's not going to pay your goddamned fine, he has no money, so instead society is going to take the burden (at the taxpayers expense, mind you) to arrest, house, feed, clothe, a homeless dude for up to a year. Wow, big smart there. Average cost of an inmate per year is probably at 50K USD/year per person.

Beggars being choosers is ridiculous.

Look into army beans from Balkans, just don't use meat when cooking, or maybe add a but of liquid smoke for a nice smoky flavor.
>>
>>22059217
Sounds like life owes you some misfortune so you can learn some empathy.
>>
>>22059566

Based retarded never heard the term "beggars can't be choosers."
>>
>>22059074
this thread is bait but honestly I've never met anyone who was against volunteering and charity that wasn't a piece of shit so i think it's safe to disregard their opinions.
>>22061052
are you literate? esl? it says right there in the OP that they eat the food and are thankful for it.
>>
>>22061058
This is a Christian website, so volunteering and charity are not welcome here. To quote the gospel, if God had wanted these people to be prosperous, then He would have given them prosperity Himself.
>>
>>22061073
>if God had wanted these people to be prosperous, then He would have given them prosperity Himself.
could you please provide the chapter and verse from the Gospels where it says that?
>>
>>22061073
As-salamu alaykum, brother! It's up to the ummah to set a good example of charity in our communities, no matter how far from the Holy Land we may stray. Thank you for speaking up for the needy and less fortunate, may we give to them all we are able.
