>red delicious>actually fucking disgusting
Compared to a crab apple they are delicious.
Green apple crunchy texture >>>>>>> crumbly probably poisoned by a witch red apple texture.
>>22059699100% correct. False advertising. I was promised an apple that is delicious. Instead it tastes like bitter nonsense. It is the prettiest apple though, and was bred for that purpose. https://newengland.com/food/red-delicious-apple/Interesting read. Scroll down to the "Genetic Downfall" section.
>>22059699Literally the fucking worst. They're the only thing my parents ever bought and I grew up thinking apples were absolute ass. Started working at an orchard-store when I was 15 and tried about a hundred different varieties, ALL of which were better.
I used to say the same thing as a man who loves apples until I tried them again recently. They're pretty good if you buy the bulk ones. The bags always have at least one that's all fucked up.
>>22059699Agreed, they are the worst type of apple I've had. The texture is so mushy. I would be curious to try a perfectly ripe organic red delicious though, to see if they can be any good.
>>22059699when i was a little kid one of my elderly teachers swore they used to actually be delicious
>>22059699I've always found that the redder the apple the blander the taste.
Just out of curiosity is anyone in this thread from the west coast of the U.S.? What is your proximity to the state of Washington? I grew up in California and remember red delicious being one of the best ones as a kid, but now that I live farther east I can generally agree with this thread and would say a fresh crunchy honeycrisp is the best. If anyone has access to a red delicious that might be good it's people in WA though. I remember it had a honey-wine like flavor, and a full texture that wasn't all crumbly
>>22059699>>actually fucking disgustingunrape your tastebuds amerifat
>>22059942That is very interestingI have family in Washington but haven’t spent much time out there. I’ll ask one of them
>>22059699try these
>>22059699they used to be delicious but then they started breeding them for size and color instead of flavorjust eat any of the many other apples that people give less of a shit what they look like
The Japanese know their apples.
>>22059699Bought a bag of Snapdragon apples from ShopRite the other day and I’m 95% sure they had filled the bag with Red Delicious. Stay safe out there
>>22059699>eat an apple that looks like polished mahogany wood>it tastes like shitwe dont have apples like that in the UK, they tend to be more green coloured (they still mostly taste like shit)gee no wonder
We've got some good apples in Poland and I think continental Europe in general. UK apples taste like ash.
>>22059699LOL! SO TRUE! SO TRUE!!
False. Depends who grows them. When they're crisp, they're great but when they go soft they drop to a 2/10. They go soft in the fridge too. For me, it's the Bravo.
