I posit that brie en croûte is the dish that has the largest ratio between the effort it takes to make and how it's perceived. It's piss easy to make and normies think you're some kind of French master.
>>22061335That’s how i feel about French toast. People are soo impressed for no real skill needed
>>22061335this is how i feel about eating grapes, people are so impressed for no skill needed.
>>22061350peeling grapes is tricky
can i use other cheese for this
>>22061459no
brisket is pretty high up there or really any BBQ. you're 99% just waiting for meat to cook. the effort is almost nothing.
>>22061459What are you proposing to croûte?
Mashed sweet potatoes. It's kind of silly how over the top reactions to it are. It's just mashed potatoes with a different flavor profile, and no more difficult save needing to peel them every time instead of getting to keep the skin on like with regular potatoes.
>>22061359Seriously so annoying. Had to do that once for a garniture and gave up after 5 grapes. It was just for me and my ex anyways
where can i order this without stepping inside a french restaurant
>>22061679Italian maggot cheese.>>22061335Are you supposed to cut the mold off the outside or do people just eat that stuff? I've read it's actually penicillin mold so basically you'd be eating antibiotics.
>>22061754A fancy grocery store out a normal grocery store during the holidays.
ET TU
>>22061792if its not wax you should eat it but dont have to if you dont like it. theres some wierd shit you shouldnt eat but youre too poor to ever see it.
>>22061335I would NOT be inpressed by this. >>22061349I would NOT be inpressed by this>>22061697I would NOT be inpressed by this
>>22061987I would be very impressed with that brie if both the cheese and the pastry was homemade.
>>22061463ribs too. but wom*n are not as into ribs and will generally appreciate a brisket more
>>22061335>normies think you're some kind of French master.unless you think all normies are retarded cooklets, i disagree. brie (or literally any other cheese that melts well) en croute is primarily a convenient way to use up leftover puff pastry after making an actual proper dish. i can't think of a single person who holds brie en croute in high regard. then again I'm French so perhaps some people abroad might think it's fancy due to the simple fact that it's vaguely French.
>>22061349>That’s how i feel about French toast. People are soo impressed for no real skill neededYou have to interact with insanely retarded '''people'''.
>>22061987>inpressedUh.. yeah..
>>22061980>me after I et tu croûte
>>22061987That don't impress me much
>>22061459Camembert
>>22062017> Is FrenchYaThat's exactly why no one considers a matter of French cooking over a basic dish
>>22061986I mean, it's hard not to eat it if it hasn't been cut off by whoever prepared it, because by the time it's at the eating stage it's been covered with dough and baked into it, so it's all over both the pastry and the cheese at that point. So my question is whether or not it should be sliced off before wrapping it in pastry. It is technically edible but that doesn't answer whether or not it's meant to be edible.Just like Gruyere, on which the outer coating is some sort of mold that tastes like a combination of shitty asshole and wet feet. That one I know is supposed to be carved off because I was told that by a grocer. I'd carve it off anyway because it literally tastes like someone took a crap on the cheese, but still, it's nice to know that other people recognize this issue. The one surprise is that it isn't sliced off by the cheesemaker.
>>22062017> bread :|> le baguette :O
>>22063216brie a cheese 'à croûte fleurie', just like camembert and many other cheeses. the crust is explicitly supposed to be edible and is generally considered to be pretty tasty. Of course, if you really want to, go ahead and cut the crust off, unless you're dining with a bunch of pretentous pricks.
>>22061335>I posit that brie en croûte is the dish that has the largest ratio between the effort it takes to make and how it's perceived. It's piss easy to make and normies think you're some kind of French master.Wouldn't that mean its ratio is small?
>>22063947OP never specified whether the effort taken was the numerator or the denominator. The word 'between' here is ambiguous and can be freely interpreted.
