Taco Bell experiments more and has unique items you can't get elsewhere. Taco Bells generic mexican items are mediocre, but where else are you getting a crunchwrap or grilled cheese burrito? I'd also argue their sauces carry their food. Del taco is really good at what they do, but its kinda generic once you get past the "Having a double cheeseburger at a mexican place" thing. Their del taco is really good, specially on tuesdays, and some burritos are good, but otherwise its kinda underwhelming.

I have no idea what Del taco's regional strategy is. Obviously there are tons on the west coast, and a good bit in a south. Basically none in the midwest, absolutely none in the norther east coast, for some reason tons in Detroit???Growing up in california, del taco has been consistently cheaper and better than taco bell, so no idea why it hasn't spread more. Also if you are ever in Barstow they have some of the original del taco locations, if you order off the 'barstow' menu the quality and quantity is way better than any other del taco.

I'd buy 50 of them for under 20 bucks and ask for 100 scorcho sauces. This would feed my roommates and I for days. Another roommate worked at a pizza place called slices and she would bring us back some (slices). Usually it was weird shit with potatoes on it or something but we just had rice and beans other than that so the leftovers always kept us going.I miss surviving together like that with my friends. Nowadays everything is in your room and on your own.
