So the place online where I buy all my British pies, pasties, pork rolls and all that good stuff just sent out an email that they will now be sending out all their pies frozen and UNCOOKED. Previously they were cooked and you just popped them in the oven for 20 minutes and they were good and flaky. All other things being equal, is this a change for the better? They said everything else is the same. Another plus is I'll be able to use my EBT but they don't have that set up yet and I will have to spend quite a bit or else I'll have to pay the shipping out of pocket.
Consider eating food
>>22062505what place is this i want to order some
>>22062505I guess that's not a big deal because even the frozen paisanos need to be cooked to 165ºF to guarantee safety, which is the same even if they start raw. it might be slightly more baking time but probably not much. they're clearly trying to cut costs on their end and if their customers are baking them anyway it's not much different
>>22062505The cooking time isn't much different for uncooked pies. Maybe 5 minutes longer in my experience
>>22062776There are tons of places to buy pasties and savory British pies online. I have to because I live rural and no British bakeries/shops around me. This is Parkers. >>22062786Cost cutting? Sure, but wouldn't a single baked one be better or less dry or something somehow? It's like uncooked breaded chicken tenderloins are better than the cooked chicken ones. I want to believe it's more than cost cutting. Why did cook them to begin with?
>>22062829yeah it'll be frescher which sounds like a good idea to me
I bet it'll be less flaky which is what you want.

Yeh they are one of the least affected foods from being frozen.
