Why doesn't Spanish cuisine have the international acclaim that French and Italian have?
>>
It's too much flavor for most Brits and their descendants.
>>
You haven't started the multi-million profit business venture of a sports bar restaurant that sells tapas code-named like local foods and rides the American appetite for appetizers.
Get started with that already please.

I like paella. Spanish bros, redpill me about paella. What ingrédients are tolerated or not ? What drink pair with it ? Is this true you need to use saffron as a spice? That shit is expensive, I can't believe it's used for such a "common" dish, served in generous portions.

and their dinners last like 4 hours, spaniards be ballin out
>>
Too seafood based. Americans, as a rule, do NOT like seafood. For us, seafood is popcorn shrimp, maybe shrimp cocktail, lobster tail, crab legs, maybe breaded fish sticks (fingers across the pond).

>M-m-must talk about the Brits
>C-c-cant sleep, I' thinking about the Brits
>H-h-have to mention the Brits.
>>
>>22066139
then why do Brits flood into Spain so much?

>Why doesn't Spanish cuisine have the international acclaim that French and Italian have?
A few reason for this. I will start with France.
France is Western European so it bonds with others who live in the same sort of climate but many forget the rubbish food from France and just think of Haute cuisine but Northern France is similar to British cuisine, when it comes to good cooking.

Italy is overrated but praised by 'Italian Americans' - Muh heritage. But it all tastes a bit samey.

Spanish food also tastes a bit samey but Mediterranean cuisine doesn't translate well into a non-mediterranean lifestyle, it's nice to sample but it doesn't work when it's -10°C outside

Most of the internet is infected with Americans who see Spain as a homeland of invaders, so that doesn't help much.

The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that foods always taste better in the home of origin.

The Basque country in Spain has some of the highest density of Michelin starred restaurants relative to local population in the world.

Thant picture is a meme. Paella does not look like that unless you bought it freezed and just put it there out of the microwave oven. The jam is from a generic supermarket blister, nothing an Spaniard would eat except on a sandwich. I have never seen prawns with pepper. And the hummus is moorish, until recently most people in Spain didn't knew about it.

Paella is a sensitive topic, Valencian paella is the canon, but each region has its own variation, and Valencians keep saying that anything but theirs is the true paella. But in reality you have many rice recipes under that name, from black paella made with cuttlefish ink, to the popular seafood paella. Just make sure you do a good sofrito and use homemade stock and good quality saffron.

Seafood in America is tasteless. Mediterranean seafood is far better.
>>
>>22066461
Still funy French cuisine named so many crustacean/fish dishes after America.
>>
I like a nice Spanish omulette.
>>
Please remove the shrimp shells and seashells from the plate.
>>
>>22066132
If Spanish food isn't prized then why do fat bitches never shut up about paella and sangria?
>>
>>22066132
But it does
Everybody enjoys an iberico jam and a paella.
Ingredients are harder to come by so perhaps that's why you don't see many spanish restaurants.
Frog food is based on onions and butter.
Itanian food is based on flour, tomato and oils.
Spanish is not really complex but it's based on cured ham, rice and seafruits.
>>
>>22066132
There is also the fact that the "high cuisine" was select by the frogs themselves through their michelin star system from that tire company. So it was obvious they would choose their own first and thus everybody copied them as "high cuisine".
Not trashing the frog cuisine, it's actually good, just saying there is a marketing strategy behind all of this.
>>
>>22066132
It absolutely does but because 16th-18th century Spaniards liked to fuck natives rather than the women they brought with it just became known as Latin American cuisine.
>>
>>22066132
Cause they fry eggs in olive oil like fucking space aliens
>>

France and Italians have international acclaim for different reasons.

France has international acclaim because France was the historical powerhouse of Europe for almost 1000 years and as such almost all nobility ate in French style and France trained the greatest chefs in the world. Chefs from all over Europe would go to France to learn cooking because it was simply the best in the world.

Italy on the other hand has international acclaim basically just because shitalian wops immigrated to America en mass so its beloved by Americans because its locally available while also feeling slightly exotic and authentic because they themselves lack any culture (same reason why Mexican food is highly rated there). And due to the hegemonic power of the US their preferences got exported to the world.

Spanish food never got international acclaim despite being very good because their food never became a cultural export.

You mean not everybody fries eggs in olive oil!?! WTF is wrong with you people!
>>
>>22070667
I fucking love chiaroscuro bros
>>
>>22066132
Spanish cuisine is overrated. Tapas is literally a meme for food bloggers.

Spain as a whole is a shit country minus women in Sevilla desu
>>
I like spain, I wish I had a cute spanish chick to kiss and hug
>>
>>22066132
I feel Spain's neighbouring countries just have slightly better and very similar cuisines. Portuguese cuisine is probably my favourite cuisine, and it's very similar to Spanish cuisine. If Spain was located anywhere else in the world then its cuisine would get more recognition imo.
>>
>>22067795
Lolwat
Name a few. Genuinely curious.
>>22070667
What do you mean?
I fry eggs in bacon fat like God intended
>>
>>22066132
What are you on about? Tapas, paella and iberico pork are staples of social media and have international reach. Iberico pork is just for richfags so poorfags have no idea about it. Croquetes are apparently spanish, so those are international too.

Now stuff like Gazpacho - that doesn't have any reach, which is odd given it's supposedly great for hot temps.

Oh, and churros are just associated with Mexicans because no one thinks about the fact it came from Spain originally when they fucked the natives and left their food culture there.

what a grim fucking place
even in australia you can get fish and oysters anywhere that isn't ayer's fucking rock
