Like 25 people in one neighborhood will be like "I'm glad my favorite Thai-Fusion place got featured" but if you do "I ATE AMERICAN MCDONALDS AND THE PORTION SIZES ARE H....." you're gonna get millions of people. Maybe a couple of those trendy influencer restaurants in NYC or LA will get a feature or two, but mostly influencers go to what is gonna get them the clicks, and with the prices for the world cup, all there is is influencers.

>>22066578I think there's a misconception that other countries' denizens have better taste in food than americans when they just prefer horking down a slightly different type of takeout or fast food. The average person in any country is simply not a food connoisseur.But I have to think that if people have this view of America as the land of trashy food, they want to come here and eat the trashiest food they can get their hands on. Some of the younger tourists probably grew up watching tiktoks of shitty or insane food like donut hamburgers or 3 foot tall sundaes with chicken strips shoved into them.
