German food is about as bland and uninspiring as British or Dutch food, but unlike the latter two, Germans cannot into self-depracation and will get all prissy and hateful if you dare suggest to them that their food isn't all that they crack it up to be. For example, a Brit will straight up tell you that tikka masala is practically their national dish and make fun of beans and toast, and the Dutch can do the same to some extent with their relation with Indonesian food vs. their own cooking, but try telling a German that döner kebabs are more popular than sausage in Germany and he or she starts spazzing out and putting down your own nationality's cuisine instead, and then goes off about how German bread is better than everyone else's bread, ditto with German beer and German sausage and even German salad and obscure German drinks. I've had enough experience to know this to be a recurring thing.

Why is it that way with Germans?
>>
>>22066311
Because they're right.
>>
>>22066322
No they aren't. There aren't German restaurants everywhere like there are for Chinese, Thai, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Turkish, Lebanese, Italian, Mexican, Brazilian, etc. etc. etc. restaurants.
>>
>>22066311
Which one was Germany, again?
>>
>>22066311
I can understand German sosig and beer, they are breddy gud.
German bread is really nothing special at all though, I don't understand that one.
>>
>>22066311
A German restaurant is a good way to tell if you're in a good neighborhood in an urban area.
If there's a corny German Beer Hall with live performances opening early for a Bundesliga Brunch every Saturday, you know this is a place you don't have to worry about being the victim of a crime
>>
I'm pretty sure they would arrest you in germany if you were nationalistic even about food
>>
>>22066330
Yes there are
>>
>>22066379
What if you're simply celebrating the second 7-1?
>>
>>22066403
Nope.
>>
>>22066330
except there are and you are just delusional.
>>22066348
clearly you never tasted German bread
>>
no, we're regionalistic about our food
>>
>>22066407
>except there are and you are just delusional.
So where the hell are they? For every one German restaurant outside of Germany, there are 20 to 100 restaurants of just one other ethnic variety. That's not an exaggeration either, there are literally over 100 Chinese and Indian restaurants each for every German restaurant in the US and UK.
>>
>>22066413
it depends on where you are.
I know for a fact there're german pubs/restaurants all over the east coast/ET zone so maybe you're just some know-it-all from commiefornia?

i do agree with a lot of your other points though, germoids get super pissy about everything and can't take a jab. you'll get an awkward laugh at best. german humor is not a meme and unfortunately it feels like everything is getting worse under the current political development
>>
>>22066413
Yeah, but in America, and I'd assume Britain the German Restaurants there are are typically higher brow, sit down, quality experience restaurants while Chinese and Indian restaurants can have those nice, classy restaurants, but are mostly fast food, buffet and takeout.
You rarely see a Sausage and Schnitzel place that isn't a fully staffed restaurant with live performers and an impressive bar.
>>
>>22066408
vegetables?
>>
>>22066471
I agree, it needs more radishes
They're more than just garnish, and an integral part of a proper Bavarian breakfast.
>>
>>22066407
German bread is nice because almost all bakeries maintain a certain standard of quality. This is the case for a few other European countries. But it's still "nothing special" in the sense that you can still find bread that is just as good just about anywhere, but you'll have to go out of your way to find a good bakery.
>>
>>22066483
There a quite a few bakeries here that have their own unique bread or buns (Brötchen), handcrafted. Even if you're a low/moderate carb fag like me you'll be able to get black bread full of fibers. Its what i miss the most when i'm abroad, good bakeries
>>
>>22066311
British and German food is good. Browns are just filtered by it.
>>
>>22066505
Unless you're somewhere remote or somewhere that doesn't have much European activity, there is always a good bakery to be found. Again, you just need to be willing to go out of your way to find them, you unfortunately can't necessarily expect the local baker down the street to be any good unlike in Germany or France, but after some googling or experimenting you'll find a spot. There are "artisanal" bakeries everywhere.
>>
>>22066311
>a Brit will straight up tell you that tikka masala is practically their national dish
No we don't.

Please tell us more about our country Cletus?
>>
>>22066483
german bakery quality varies by region
eastern germany has below average bakeries except for some outliers and if you know where to go in berlin
bavarian/palatian bakeries are definitely above average
lower saxony has very odd sweet/savory combos but not necessarily bad, nrw is very hit or miss
those are all the regions I've lived in, no idea about the others
>>
>>22066579
I see, makes sense. I have only been around the Saarland region and Münich for now and haven't been disappointed by the bread,
>>
>>22066408
I eat that with fork + knife, don't suck it out of the skin, and I prefer it for dinner.
>>
>>22067870
It's also better with regular mustard. I don't know why Bavarians are so stupporn about it. Silesian weißwurst is basically the same but the traditions aren't autistic.
>>
>>22066413
Germans don't tend to spam out hole in the wall slop shops like orientals
>>
>>22066311
Why are you so triggered? Did you get raped in a German kitchen?
>>
>>22066528
>if you search long enough blablabla
ok but you don't have to search in Germany. there are good bakeries everywhere

I never said the bread wasn't good, in fact I literally did say that it was good and consistent earlier. I'm supporting the claim that it's "nothing special". Which is correct. It's good bread, but nothing special. What I would consider special would be something like tandyr nans.
>>
>>22068013
by that logic there is no "special food" which makes it a stupid argument. Everyone can cook like a Mexican or Chinese or Indian too. I could make tandyr nans too even though Im not whatever nationality this is from.
>>
>>22066330
Germans who emigrate are skilled, so they get STEM jobs instead of working in the food industry.
>>
>>22068239
what YOU can do is irrelevant. you can find good European-style bread anywhere, ergo it is not special. Nothing about German bread is special, it is just as good as French or Italian bread, of course every bakery will have their own take on things but that's true for EVERY good bakery, not just the German ones. The fact that bread from a German bakery is better than bread from midwestern supermarket doesn't magically make it the best bread in the world.
>>
>>22066311
German food is not as bland and uninspired as British food, not even remotely close. Their foods are simple, but have a lot more fats in them.

>döner kebabs are more popular than sausage in Germany
No idea why, kebabs such dick. Sausage is way better.

None of that /pol/ babble changes that Döner is a German thing any Turk from Turkey would throw in your face if you served it to him as turkish dish
>>
>>22069960
the 'sandwich' type of döner is a german thing (if you consider Turkish immigrants german, for some reason). but the method of preparing döner kebab meat is 100% turkish. does putting something between two pieces of bread turn it into a brand new dish?

The only German restaurant I ever went to was at the Anheuser Busch distillery in New Hampshire and it was quite good (which I guess is now closed, RIP). The Polish restaurants in my state are better though
>>

Stop telling lies Ivan. I am a native german and we have german Restaurants. What we dont have is german restaurant chains. Thats all. So just shut the fuck up with your propaganda.

Bratwurst originated in Thuringia or Franconia
Stollen in Saxony-Anhalt.
Schweinebraten is just a roast. Every country has it.
>>
>>22071121
ok good actual arguments
>Schweinebraten
when people think of schweinebraten, they think of the bavarian variety, ergo it's bavarian
>Stollen
ok fair enough, ceded.
>Bratwurst is from x or y
nuremburg is in bavaria these days grandad.
>>
>>22069965
Yes, it does.
Again, hamburgers. Americans didn't invent ground meat patties.

How is it different at all?
>nuremburg is in bavaria these days grandad
Today but not historically. Actual bland Bavarian cuisine could've never come up with bratwurst. And again the earliest source is from.Thuringia.

East coast (metro NYC) here. There are almost no German pubs around. The closest I can think of if Amish food out in PA and the Hofbräuhaus chain. Chinese and Indian food is everywhere, lots of Halal food, every pub at least pretends to be Irish but no German food.
