Now that Europoors have discovered the glory of Ranch dressing, will they finally start putting some respect on American cuisine? I think the days of European arrogance are at an end.

I posted here before about my love for ranch when I first tried it and my attempts at finding the good one. Turns out, they all such except Hidden Valley Ranch powder mix in the sachets. The jars? No. The bottles of ready mixed ranch? Nah. Other brands? Fuck off. It must be HVR and it must be powder mix and it must be from a sachet.
My cousins when they visited fell in love with Reese's Pieces. They called them their vitamins lol
I shipped them a few bags every Christmas until an American store opened up in their area and they could buy their own.
My mother loved egg nog, pumpkin and sweet potato pies and the general Thanksgiving setup, so long as the turkey isn't dry as a nun's cunt.

thank you for proving my point
all US condiments are race-to-the-bottom-sysco awful, despite the fact that it's really easy to make homemade ketchup in-house or any condiment
the supply chain caters to retarded people that go "I WANT TO BECOME A CHEF!!!" and then they open a place and can stay afloat for a long time despite producing refuse because oil and sugar is tasty and can sell
it's not like it's a unique US problem, US is simply the first to """"""optimize"""""" the restaurants out of the flavor
>>
>>22074786
>despite the fact that it's really easy to make homemade ketchup in-house
Shit like mayo sure but if you've ever actually made ketchup or specifically dijon mustard you'd know it's very time-consuming for ketchup and a fucking bitch and time-consuming for dijon. Other stuff sure but you get next to no benefit making your own ketchup for the time and labor you put in unless you make some specialty product like mushroom ketchup which is really its own condiment that just shares the name.
>>
it's mostly mayo, garlic, and onions, right?

>>
>>22074792
Mustard sure
ketchup? mayo?
>no benefit making your own ketchup for the time and labor
yeah except the ketchup doesn't taste like HFCS trash
of course that doesn't count in the US, kraft jelly is perfectly acceptable, after all it resembles a ketchup like 60-70% and can cover up the taste of disgusting ingredients like a normal ketchup would
it's *passable*, you and I can shovel the nuggets into the maw regardless of whether it's homemade or kraft, I absolutely agree with you, that's the essence of american food
would americans accept not eating fast food every meal if it was too expensive to do since the food stands alone as a dish worldwide? of course not
it's all about approaching the threshold of disgusting from the cost POV
>>
>>22074807
>mayo?
I included mayo in things that make sense to make in-house. Hot english or beer mustard are easy enough to make, it's just dijon that's a bitch if you're committing to doing it right.
No, ketchup is not much better when you make it yourself without extra sugar. It's less sweet if you prefer it that way but you'd get 90% of the benefit by just spicing a no-sugar-added ketchup with whatever you would have put in the homemade batch. It would be retarded to make ketchup in-house as a general condiment unless you're some high-class tasting menu and it was a specific part of one particular dish.

If you suggested mayo and not ketchup then I'd believe you've actually made any of these condiments yourself.

>It would be retarded to make ketchup in-house as a general condiment unless you're some high-class tasting menu
see, you agree with me that unless the dish can stand on its own it doesn't make sense to make a ketchup that's not sweet and more herb-based
it absolutely doesn't make sense to make a condiment that isn't designed to mask the shitty ingredient cooked by a retard
that's a normal american viewpoint
oil/sugar/spicy condiments exist to mask the taste of shitty food, that's their whole point!
it's funny how you go on non-western wikipedia for a ketchup and the sugar is like a distant fourth+ ingredient if it's even there
>>
>>22074828
I legitimately don't think you've actually tried to make ketchup or any of these condiments yourself at home or you'd know that it takes like 10-12 hours to cook it down proper from the tomatoes themselves and it's not really better at all than a decent ketchup you would buy pre-made, that you can then spice yourself to your needs. That's why I think you're an idiot for suggesting restaurants make ketchup in-house here >>22074786
and why I think you're just talking out of your ass. I don't think we're even actually having a conversation, I'm discussing the pros and cons of making various condiments in-house for a restaurant and you just want to shitpost about americans. I made two nice jars of creme fraiche just yesterday that I'll be using over the next month or so and I don't think you've made any condiments yourself even once.
>>
>>22074836
you're arguing for a point that doesn't exist in reality

You get this uppity about "bro make the ketchup inhouse make sure it's THE GOOD STUFF it's easy I think" and of course you don't even actually know how to make proper ketchup. If you don't even know what goes into making what you're demanding restaurants make then maybe just shut the fuck up because you don't even know what you're talking about. Pick a topic you're more well-versed in as a vehicle to shitpost about americans.
You want to bitch about restaurants buying mayo when you've never made that either?

I did make a mayo myself and it was very easy and delicious. At restaurant scale, it's even easier and ketchup is exactly the same way
here's a ramsey video too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSHXG-5ShFk
there are plenty of non-kraft good quality condiments available for purchase for anyone in US, if you were an american instead of a brown person you would know. It doesn't make sense to make my own ketchup when european groceries provide better quality ketchup than anything in US restaurants
please stop coping anon, US condiments available in restaurants (cheapest possible) are bad

Some foods are meant to be made by machines. They're just too labor intensive and difficult to perfect by hand, while machines make it perfectly every time, make it so efficiently and in such abundance that the lowliest pleb can enjoy it.

Ketchup is one such commodity. In the past only aristocrats would ever experience such pure ketchup that is glossy as Heinz 57. Plebs would have grainy sauce with the texture of tomato paste. I thank God every day for the fortune to have been born in the era where such perfect ketchup is readily available at such insanely low prices.
>>
>>22074862
>are you saying it's too hard for the restaurants?
No, where did I say that? I'm saying that it's not a good allocation of time or resources making in-house ketchup because you can just buy a decent-quality one and spice it to your needs. If a restaurant chooses to buy a bad one instead of a decent one that doesn't suddenly make it a good idea to make homemade ketchup from scratch. They should just buy a better one. And you're an know-nothing idiot for suggesting otherwise.
>I made mayo once!
Amazing, glad you got there. Go make ketchup from scratch over the course of 12 hours and then compare it to a decent pre-made one so you can realize how dumb your argument is.
>look at ramsey making mayo and not ketchup
I said that mayo makes sense to make in-house twice now. Do you have dementia? I am saying that ketchup specifically is retarded to make from scratch when you can just buy a decent one and spice it. A restaurant spending the time to make a proper ketchup from constituent tomatoes is being unwise with its time and labor for no tangible benefit. You think there would be some tangible benefit, but it's because you've never actually made the product you're demanding gets made in-house because you are a poser retard who wants to pretend he knows what he's talking about.

>>22074864
This guy gets it. Some things take a long time and are worth it. Tomato ketchup is not one of those things.
>>

>If a restaurant chooses to buy a bad one instead of a decent one that doesn't suddenly make it a good idea to make homemade ketchup from scratch. They should just buy a better one.
anon PLEASE communicate that somehow to 99% of US restaurants
I am REALLY counting on you

again, anon...
I did try ramsey's "just fries" in vegas a couple of years ago
the homemade ketchup was so good I ordered another batch and it was hard for me to stand upright after all of that since I was so full

I hate to break it to you because that ketchup was so life-changing, but the homemade ketchup at Mr Ramsey's place wasn't that crazy good because of the lengthy cooking down of the tomatoes(which is the actual process along with the blending and straining that makes a proper from-scratch ketchup). It was because of the shit they added to it. It's funny that you complain about the terrible state of strict cynical cost-chasing in restaurants when the only real benefit they got out of cooking down the tomatoes over using a decent premade product as a base to add to is getting to slap "totally made in-house" on the menu so that people like you(who has never made ketchup in their lives) will think that was totally the reason it tasted amazing and be willing to pay premium for something that is really only elevated by the herbs, spices, etc added to the reduced tomato.
Please please please just take a day and make ketchup yourself so you can realize how much of an asshole you are about this. This will be my last post to you because I have been arguing for too long with someone who admits he has no fucking idea what he's talking about, has never made the product he claims to know so much about, and got starstruck by ketchup that probably just had some balsamic and a sensible herb mix added in.

you're literally agreeing with me and conceding but in a weird asshole retard way
yes, it's "all the shit they added to it" that makes it tasty
yes, they may have ordered those tomatoes reduced from sysco, added "all the shit" later and labeled it as "homemade"
what is the actual outcome of all of this?
the ketchup available on order in all US fast food and restaurants is hot trash and the "homemade" ketchup is good
