Instant Coffee Edition: Rood Aroma EditionThis thread is for discussing coffee and coffee accessories and coffee animeIf you're new and confused, start here: https://pastebin.com/UEzwuyLzIf you're old and confused just stick to instant.Previous: >>22060133
>>22074599this /ctg/ is gonna piss off some purists and I'm all for it. (I'm old and confused)
>>22074605>oh no people are drinking shitty coffee leaving the good beans for me what will I ever do
>>22074612drinking expensive Jamaican blue mountain doesn't make you superior nor interesting.
>>22074622Superior? Yes. Interesting? Maybe to the severely autistic.
>>22074599ive secretly been injecting blueberry bombs into tasters choice and resealing the jar and putting back on the shelves at the grocery store to get normies hooked
>>22074599random question about bean types. I got some Tanzanian whole bean from my brother's workplace and I was wondering what the difference is between something like AA to AF for example.off wikipedia I found this:AAABPBCEFAFTTUGTEXcan someone more adept at telling me what they mean can assess what kind of beans I have?
>>22074642how would you be able to do that without peeling off the top seal? also wouldn't you get caught?
>>22074661Screen size. Green bean size. Different countries call their sizes different things. AAA is going to be a physically larger bean than PB peaberry. AAA-AA will be like 20/64ths of an inch, peaberries will be like 13 and under. If you're buying something like>Columbian Supremoyou just know those should be big AA size beans.
This is my favorite coffee, 2 packs into a bottle of water makes for a great beverage.
>>22074718how is the strength-to-sweetness ratio? i dont mind a sweet instant coffee as long as it's sufficiently strong but the yellow korean ones i had were basically candy.
>>22074687I think mine are peaberry
>>22074687also, are AAA beans pricier than peaberry or do they tend to cost the same?
>>22074741Depends. Tanzanian pb in particular is popular though.
just sat down with a cup
>>22074754a cup of what?
>>22074766
>>22074799how decadent...
>>22074820the lychee and raspberry are noticeable but not strong like those flavors usually are.i often find lychee can be overpoweringbut here its not bad.
got a cheap tds meter after the water tism in the last threadcold tap water read 50ppmppm isnt everything but nice to know its low to start with.i dont have a mineral breakdown of it or anything but.50 is good right?i think i can test the conductivity too, should i do that?>inb4 i have the worst water on the planet:)
>>22074870may be a little low. somewhere between 75ppm-150ppm has been said to be the ideal range.. but it also depends on what exactly is dissolved in your water, which is why people recommend remineralizing.maybe someone else can explain this potentially helpful chart to you, because i can't.
>>22074883do you think i would still need to get distilled water if i wanted to add minerals to make coffee water?or would i need to do further tests to understand what is dissolved in my water to understand what to add or whatever.like a strip test or something
>>22074599I hate these jars so much, difficult to open.
>>22074913Yes :)
>>22074971:(
GOAT coffee
>>22074913jesus fucking crickey... what difference could this make to justify going through so much B.S?
>>22075147Freeze dried instants are magical. Tastes like a legit fresh cup.
>>22075160huh?i mean... i haven't seen the difference myself but as others say, its like what 95% of the drink so if 95% of the thing you are drinking is bringing down the last 5% of it then its probably noticeable.obviously there is level of effort to gain ratio or whatever that isnt worth it
>>22075174explain to me how a difference of a few ppm of dissolved minerals could affect the taste of a brewed cup. My reasoning is that if I can't taste it in a glass of water, I probably won't be able to tell in a cup of coffee either.
>>22075184>explain to menigga im the studentim in here asking retarded questionsbut logically it makes sensejust think of it like seasoning>explain why a few grams of salt makes food taste goodidk the science behind it but it does.(also yes you can salt your coffee)>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PUWQQ-joKE
>>22075184>how do the things Im consuming affect taste? Its really hard for me to not just give you google's ai overview. Try making some coffee with plain distilled. Compare that to brewing with your tap water. If you don't notice a difference, stop buying shitty coffee.
>>22075184>explain to me how a difference of a few ppm of dissolved minerals could affect the taste of a brewed cup.basically you are l'extracting flavorino compoundaroonies from the beanie weanies. think of the water like a great big spongey-wongey. if'n the spongey-wongey has too many silly-billy ppms, it has less room to absorb flavorinos. if it has not enough silly-bo-billy ppms, then it will extract too many flavorinos and pull out even the mean old bitterinos in the deep recesses of the coffee-woffee beanie-weanies.does that make sense?
>>22075351ooooo i get it now
>>22075351>coffee-woffee
Why are such gay high ego snobby faggots? Telling this dude Origami is Japanese and he's like nuh-uh it's British I'm a barista hurr durr I'd know better than you. Faggotass hoe.
Why are barista*
>>22075399hes right
>>22075415Fuck you kid.
>>22075351it does, thanks :3
Being able to specifically add more buffer or magnesium is very helpful. My shitty medium roast normie french press brew a few days ago was only enjoyable because I used an appropriate water comp and dropped in bicarb by taste. Not a coffee or brewing method I'd use my low buffer high magnesium pourover recipe for.
>>22075498>>22075498>>22075461>>22075363>>22075351This is of course just one study, but it would seem that the presence of minerals contributes to the perception of desired flavors in coffee, rather than contributing too their actual extraction. A minor distinction, but still one worth considering, I think.https://prima-coffee.com/blog/remineralizing-water-for-coffee-prebrew-vs-postbrew/
God damn it fuck assman is out here dropping strangely on thread content. Like 2 minutes of worthwhile water talk.https://youtu.be/9zU0FybizSc?t=586>Not forcing high magnesium recipes on chocolately coffees>dialing in high magnesium for fruity eths and other light roastsThats what the fuck I just said.

>>22075749I mean you can see how oily the bag is.

is regalia any good?seems to be the cheapest decent subscription
^shill^
>>22075836regalia coffee is run by known pedophiles. they are complicit in the rape of children. they are also known racists, use slave labor in harvesting coffee, and I have found human fingernails and feces in my beans many timesnow can you answer the question?
>>22075845wtf i love Regalia now
>>741577971I used to drink atleast 5 cups o' joe a day. A few years ago I got sick and stopped drinking coffee. I never started coffee again.I don't know if anyone else experienced this, but quitting coffee hurts. It's a week of bad headaches and irritability. After this prepare for a life that's incomparably worse. I can't work with Excel anymore or do calculations in my head that used to be easy. I have a slow mind in a fast world now.The only good thing now is that I don't have to keep up with withdrawal symptons anymore.
>>22075882>atleast 5 cups o' joe a dayyeah retard don't do that
>>22075882just dont quit idiot
>>22075749looks like a bag of black olives
Is DAK really that good or is it jusr r*ddit hype?
made a 'spressowasn't good but i had fun making itmy insistence on not keeping a brew journal continues to bite me in the ass(still not gonna do it)i also tested the ppm of the water out of my espresso machine and it was only 95thats better than i get out of the hot water tank(140) (do americans call this a water heater? idk)but not as good as i got out of the kettle(70)getting kinda sick of this machine thoit just so slow and noisywish i had the space to rip this thing apart and just rebuild it.but its probably not worth it...i should just return it to my friend and buy a flair...
>>22076734reddit hypeits good but you can find dozens around the world that are as good or better.
>>22076737cool, i probably wont bother buying it online since i can buy really good stuff in my city
>>22076734They consistently source good lots.>>22076736Today seems like a flair day :)
>>22076854>Today seems like a flair day :)what?like a day to buy a flair?
>>22076895No like a day to turn on my flair.
>>22076896oooooooooohhhhthat sounds like a great idea anon :)
>>22076896>>22076910>dancing_in_the_street.mp3
>>22076910High flow basket is in the portafilter. Ready to rip in 10.
>>22076936what are you brewing today?
>>22075749>darkVisibly chunky medium-coarse sea salt grind. TEMPERATURE: Darks will SHIT ashy approaching 195 F; if you do bloom above 188 F, one saturation pour and let it sit 45s— going full Jap and dousing the main pour temp to 176 F would be another trick if it remains mid at the mid to upper 180s. Do not agitate, be circumspect about slow steady pouring. French/Aero Press will help mitigate that further.
>>22075882Caffeine competes with certain B vitamins. Hence the nervous shakes and anxiety with too much caffeine. You can supplement around that. The anxiety and palpitations CAN also be pesticides and/or MOLD contaminants, mitigated by not buying DOGSHIT BEANS. You never really need more than 8 ounces. Make a good cup with great stuff and enjoy it, have some Thiamine/B-complex with electrolytes and don't chase the dragon.
>>22076963The usual. Can't remember I've brewed it espresso this year though. >PRODUCERS israel degefa >PROCESSING natural, 96 hours dry fermentation>REGION oromia>TOWN anasora>ELEVATION 2100-2300m>VARIETY heirloom>HARVEST new crop
>>22077029was it good?
>>2207703011 second pisser through high flow+909s. Very very blackberry forward. Surprising amount of depth for such short contact time. Pourovers are like strawberry lemonade. Ill try to get some more roasted up today. Still have like 3lbs green left.
>>22077049>11 second pissersheesh
just cut my tap water with distilled in a 2:1 ratio
>>22077332hope it works out for you anon
