As a working comic on the road he could write off meal expenses when traveling. The receipt would be for his own tax purposes, not the business'. If he was on the road 200 days a year and bought a donut every day for a buck that's 200 bucks you don't have to pay taxes on. Shit adds up and even though the chances are you won't be audited (especially if you're not trying to write off crazy amounts) it's good to have proof of expenses just in case.
