>thinking about that part in To Kill a Mockingbird where the white trash kid pours molasses all over his food
>decide I should see if it's any good
>went to the store and bought a jar of Brer Rabbit brand molasses
>made pancakes and used it like syrup
>started putting it on toast
>starting putting it in milk and yogurt
>started putting it in my oatmeal
>put some on ham
It's safe to say I'm a big fan of this stuff. I'm about to go whole hog (I think southerners say this) into the world of depression era poor southerner food. What should I start making? Right now I'm planning on:
>Hoecakes
>biscuits
>rendering fatback into lard to spread on my biscuits and use as a general grease
>much more molasses
>grits

>What should I start making?
Zebra pie
Tar biscuits
Rabbit stew
Sansquatch
Little baby doe fritters
Skipjack salad

To name a few

i've brewed molasses before
1:2 molasses:water, like 1/2 tsp of bread yeast per liter or thereabouts, some ginger powder if you want, let sit at 70-75F for two weeks
bretty gud for what it is, the bread yeast gets to work quick enough that sanitizing isn't really necessary in my experience

Buy an ad you fucking faggot. No need to make up such a dumb story
>>

hurr durr every post that mentions a brand is a secret marketing campaign I am very smart
>>

Wait a minute, half of these aren't even real food

If you are dipping into molasses you might as well try sorghum. I don't like it but my dad is a country boy through and through and he loves it on biscuits. Don't have a brand to rec because my uncle is the one who makes it.

Thank you! I've added it to my list. Hopefully I can find a store around here that carries some, I'm up north and a lot of grocery stores only have 1 kind of molasses.

The retarded faggots of 4chan think any company cares about advertising here. They're as bad as redditors.

> Mashed potatoes
> Roast potatoes
> hash browns
> sweet potato
> corn bread
Man, it’s so good in oatmeal. I’ve been doing that for awhile, just haven’t been on an oatmeal kick in a while.

Have you tried the Plantation brand? It's what my Grandma who grew up during the depression used.
>>
>>22077424
Not yet, my local grocery store only has Grandma's and Brer Rabbit.

I used to eat molasses on my eggos waffles in the mornings as a kid
