>doing shit at eating healthy>eat nothing but trash food like nuggets and fries>fuck it eat a carrot raw despite how much I hate it>come to the realizationWhy the fuck do I have to turn everything into a proper cooked meal. I eat fruit raw, bell peppers and spicy peppers are easily eaten raw. Could I eat a whole ass cabbage raw? Broccoli? Raw lentils? A whole can of tomatos?
>>22077482I wouldn't eat lentils raw, but you can eat most vegetables raw, sure. if you want a legume you don't have to cook just get canned beans or chickpeas.
Short answer is yes.Longer answer is that cooked vegetables are generally healthier just because your body has an easier time extracting the nutrients. But when it comes to a matter of convenience, don't let that stop you from eating it raw.
>>22077491So there is REALLY no downside to eating raw cabbage. No secret gotta cook out the pesticides or some shit? Why we eating cearal when we can just eat cabbage for breakfast?
>>22077482>>22077492Kill yourself retard
>>22077492>Why we eating cearal when we can just eat cabbage for breakfastNigga that's called a salad. The downside of eating that much cabbage is just that you fart.
>>22077495Downside of eating too much sugar from cearal is diabetes.
>>22077492grains are more filling and easier to meet caloric needs. but raw cabbage is just a salad. lots of people eat raw veggies every day.
>>22077499The upside of cereal is that it's an easy source of carbs. The sugar is the reason people eat it.
>>22077500You think the majority of this site is struggling with caloric needs and not you know, eating shit with nutrients. Probably half the site doesn't know what the fuck vitamin K is.
>>22077504I didn't make any assumptions about this site, that's just why it's common for people to eat grains in general.
>>22077508Yeah but like the entire western world are all fat fucks who eat cearal and grains when they could be eating raw vegetables like carrots, cabbage or anything else raw. I might eat a whole ass turnip now.
>>22077512>fucking freak fat retard ate nuggets n tendies his entire life>discovered the carrot>wtf i love raw veggies now>i am now an expert in nutrition>the whole world should now eat like thisFucking die freak.
>>22077482Yes, it's possible to eat raw fruit and vegetables. They should be part of your regular diet alongside cooked food. Going full raw food is retarded and will make you look like a meth head with AIDS and can cause all kinds of health problems.
>>22077504I think a lot of people aren’t struggling, but that’s because they’re cheaping out and the cheap stuff is just very calorie dense. Vitamin and micronutrient rich foods aren’t usually macronutrient rich, so eating “healthy” ends up being more expensive.
>>22077482>>22077492>Goitrogens are substances that interfere with thyroid hormone production, potentially leading to goiter (thyroid enlargement) or hypothyroidism if consumed in excess, particularly by individuals with iodine deficiency.>Common dietary sources include cruciferous vegetables (e.g., broccoli, kale, cabbage, cauliflower), soy, millet, and cassava.>Cooking goitrogenic vegetables significantly reduces their goitrogenic potency by destroying the enzymes that activate these compounds.
>>22077550I read that populations in Africa who eat a lot millet have a huge problem with goiters because millet is the bulk of their caloric intake.
>>22077482You want to at least blanch things like cabbage and broccoli in boiling water for a few seconds. This is to protect you from soil-based pathogens such as bacteria, protozoa and worm eggs.Washing them in cold water just isn't good enough these daysRaw sprouts are one of the worst for food poisoningPeople think it's healthy to just munch on raw sprouts but it's super risky!
>>22077579Thats funny because sprouts are one of the few foods anyone can grow effortlessly on their kitchen counter. The home sprouter get massive returns for minimal investment while the sprout buyer gets to pay an exorbitant price for a tiny amount of possibly human feces contaminated sprouts. I would never ever buy sprouts. They're so easy to grow in under a week on your countertop.
>mfw the veggies are fuckin rawIf you really want to eat lentils raw you can do it if you sprout at home them first like the based sprouter above me is talking about
You can eat regular vegetables raw, but beware of stalks, peels, and seeds: they contain the most dietary fiber, but fiber is a double edged sword. Too much of it can backfire and make you bloated and constipated.
>>22077482It's harder to digest. Raw carrot takes a long time to chew. Soft cooked carrots are sweet and easy to digest and you end up absorbing more nutrients since we don't digest raw vegetables as well.>I eat fruit raw, bell peppers and spicy peppers are easily eaten raw.A lot of fruits are "meant" to be eaten raw, peppers are fruits. But some like apples are still easier to digest when cooked.>Could I eat a whole ass cabbage raw? Broccoli?Yes but your overall intake will probably be lower than with cooked vegetables because they're harder to digest.>Raw lentils?Raw lentils and beans have lectins that can make you sick if they're not properly cooked. Kidney beans especially will make you really sick if you eat them raw.>A whole can of tomatos?Canned foods are cooked.>>22077572That's probably more of an issue with no iodine in the diet. It was a problem in the USA too before iodized salt was created because of inland populations who weren't consuming any seafood that naturally has iodine and the soil was low in it.
>>22077482I bought a nutribullet and wtf I love veggies now
>>22077913I make banana ice cream in a nutribullet, its perfect.
>>22077482>Carrots & CabbageShred it and eat it with a bit (lot) of vinaigrette>TomatosOf course you can eat it raw you doofus. Dice it into a salad, or slice it and sprinkle it with olive oil and salt.>pepper bellYou can, but it's a bit shitty to digest raw. Usually I add some in taboule or salads.
>>22077482so, you discovered salad.
>>22077550fucking goitrogens
>>22077492Because cereal (rice, wheat and corn) as much more caloricly dense than cabbage, economically as well grains (cereal) has much less logistical cost.
