Is ground chicken decent health and cost wise? I had some homemade ground chicken burgers recently and they were delicious. I'm sick of tenderloins, breast, thigh and honestly never even thought of ground chicken. I don't see or hear much about it. Anything wrong with it?
>>22083291yeah it's good. can be a bit bland compared to ground beef or pork, but it's not really an issue when you're mixing it with seasonings and other stuff. it's pretty common as a cheaper/healthier alternative to other kinds of mince. ground turkey too.
>>22083291Might want to get all your good vibes in during June, Pride Month. July is right on the horizon.
>>22083291If you can find a store or butcher shop that will grind it for you fresh, it is good. Just don't buy the slimy prepackaged shit.
>>22083291it's extremely good, healthy, and cheap, but don't let the word get out or it will explode in price.
Nah, it sucks, don't do it.
>>22083291It's just not very good. You can get whole frozen chickens with more utility in fat and stock along with the meat. If you like it, you like it. Don't let anyone clip your wings, baby.
>>22083291Grinding it yourself is best IMO. I enjoy chicken thighs as is, but when drumsticks are on sale I will buy a bunch and grind them up for sausage and loose ground meat. Wouldn't recommend doing it for white meat though unless your one of those picky eaters or have some.
If you grind it yourself from cheap thigh or leg meat, it's worth it. Preground is overpriced and treated with other shit that diminishes the chicken flavor.
>>22083632minced is better, the much larger surface area allows for maillard maxxing
>>22083291i like it a lot but your question is dependent on your location, you should have an idea ofnwhat is a good price for meat (here is 10$/kg or so). what health consideration is there, meat is meat except pork which has like b1 or whatever pan fry with spice and veg to make taco like filling is my preferred lazy way
>>22083646*throws a pack of mince into a roaring fire* slrrrrrrp i'm maillard maxxing
>>22083291the cost:flavor ratio is too wide for it to be viable.possibly in a soup.
>>22083594it's already really expensive. so is ground turkey. idk where you live where it's affordable. Just grind it yourself.
since when does chicken grow in the ground
>>22084223You have to get the right cultivar. If you get a good modern ground chicken it'll grow almost anywhere: clay, loam, sandy... you name it.
>>22083594It's somehow like a third more expensive than pork mince over here. I got like 500g for 2 pounds (britbongistani money)
>>22083291it would be a good idea to bread them and pan fry as chicken burgers
have a wide side bowl of water to wet your hands when working with ground chicken (unless of course you're wearing gloves) because it's so sticky. same with ground pork or ground turkeygotta rub your hands together in the water to get the residue off and keep forming the rest of the meatballs or patties or whatever.i prefer ground chicken to ground beef because it doesn't shrink as much, so i can make it the size of the bun from the start and not estimate
>>22083291When making meatballs or dumplings, adding 30 to 40% chicken to beef or pork will greatly improve the texture.
>>22086209>because it's so sticky. same with ground porkYou what? Pork is not sticky at all. It's fatty af and will coat your hands with a fat film.
>>22086276The fat sticks to your hands therefore it is sticky. Hope this helps!
>>22083321>cost wiseSomeone's not reading entire posts around here.
>>22086281No one on Earth would describe fat as "sticky". It is in fact the opposite of sticky, so much so that many types of fats and oils are used as lubricants, specifically so that things they are applied to will not stick.
>>22086349>wtf's the matter with u? that stuff that sticks to your hands isn't stickygood point
>>22086351ESL or just plain retarded? "Sticky" does not mean "sticks to your hands". If you put your hand in a bag of flour then it would stick to your hands but no one would call dry flour sticky.
>>22086367>sticky doesn't mean "sticks to you">animal fat isn't sticky because flour isn't called sticky when it sticks to youif i wasn't so retardedly esl i could probably make sense of this
I was just memeing no need to go all autistic up in this bitch. who cares if it's sticky or not...
>>22086407Why kill me when we could share a pop tart together
>>22086409oh ok maybe that would be nicer
No it's time for war
>>22083291just put breasts in a food processor
Ground chicken lettuce wraps with peanut sauce is one of my favorite meals. Easy, tasty, and healthy.
Is freezing ground white meat chicken a bad idea? I food processor'd a breast and froze it as a test, tried making a patty out of it with an egg and breadcrumb crust but it was somehow too wet to hold together in a patty shape and insanely dry after frying to 160 internal.I switched to whole, skin on but deboned thighs and they work way better in chickfila knockoff sandwiches but I really want to get a good recipe for homemade mcchickens, which I'm pretty sure needs ground white meat.
>>22083291>I'm sick of tenderloins, breast, thigh and honestly never even thought of ground chicken.Buy a meat grinder (or an attachment for a stand mixer) and make the ground chicken yourself. I prefer grinding up chicken thighs or drumsticks because they have enough fat for it. Pre-ground chicken always gives me runny shits and smells bad.>>22083642>>22083644This. I can cook a whole week of food off a 16-pack of chicken drum sticks simply because being able to grind the meat myself provides so many other options.
