Or is alcohol, alcohol, and there is nothing different about it as a ingredient?
>>22083398Alcohol is ethanol and ethanol is all the same but beer does have different types of alcohol in it like tert-amyl alcohol
Malt liquor fucks you up worse than beer.
>>22083398It's a cope by alcoholics to justify their shitty behaviour
>>22083506Weird projection, lad.
>>22083398not that ive noticed but people swear tequila gets you "angry drunk".Ive never had much tekillia but i call bullshit
>>22083398Act? I don't know. But they do give a slightly different high. A beer buzz is distinctly different than the equivalent in corn liquor.
>>22083398If it's all just ethanol then no. However if it's not distilled properly there can still be levels of methanol in the finished product and this can alter how fast you get drunk, how you behave, and how you feel the next day. This is less of a problem now, but hypothetically an unchecked bottle of booze that didn't have the methanol removed would certainly hit differently.
>>22083599>However if it's not distilled properlyBeer isn't distilled at all and will always have the full amount of methanol in it.
>>22083398So now meme means "claim"?What the fuck? And yes, that's absolutely true. I'd call it a fact, not a claim.I'm an alcoholic so if I drink I get hyper and wanna party all night and won't stop until I can't stand. Some people have one and get drowsy. Some can have 2 or 3 responsibly and enjoy it and put it down. Everyone's a little different. But quit just bending "meme" to be whatever you want it to be in the moment.
>>22083610that's not really what OP is asking. the claim is that different types of alcohol effect people differently, as in wine drunk is different than beer drunk is different than liquor drunk. not if different people get drunk differently.anyway, it's pretty much nonsense OP.
>>22083610Look at this meme guy right here.
>>22083624Usually this question is for spirits like vodka, tequila, whiskey, ect. Beer, wine, spirits, those definitely hit differently due to things like sugars, nitrites, and additives. But if done right and just drank alone, whiskey and vodka drunk are no different.
>>22083624Wut? Different drinks have different alcohol concentration. A % is a unit of concentration, in this case mL of ethanol per 100 mL. Higher % means you get more alcohol per mL of drink. Therefore, the effects will be different. Perversely, people often get more drunk due to binge drinking "lower" % beer than on wine. There's also the confounding factor of what rich vs poor people drink. Poor people mostly drink cheap beer, hence the association of beer with violence
>>22083405There are differences between the methanol and tannin content of things too which could cause a difference in how someone feels. Just like how tea and coffee both have caffeine but they don't make you feel the same and coffee seems to cause more side effects for some people.Fermentation itself creates a bunch of things that can have a noticeable effect on how you feel. Even people who eat things like homemade sauerkraut will report feeling different after consuming it which could be from histamine and other amines. >>22083605I don't think they were implying beer was distilled, usually the debate is between liquors and not beer or wine as much.
>>22083624>>22083633I never noticed any subtle differences. My dad claimed whisky especially made him "meaner than a snake", but they way I drank (a lot, nightly) it didn't matter what it was. It got the job done and got me smashed. Some drinks took more to do it. But I didn't notice different moods of drunkenness. I did have worse hangovers from certain things, so I learned to avoid those. I can only speak for myself, but I was the same kind of happy drunk no matter what I was drinking.
>>22083643Yeah. I drink vodka 99% of the time. And the only time I notice a change from happy drunk is when I get lonely or think about good times. And of course sugar and caffeine also alters the mood, but usually it just spikes me and makes me drink harder ans faster.
>>22083643It'll still depend on the individual somewhat. If you're generally more positive and happy then that'll make a difference. Physically there can be differences in tolerance for things as well, some people might tolerate various things that could cause someone else to feel worse.
>>22083648>vodka 99% of the timeThat's where I was just before I quit. I was drinking so damn much every night that if it was anything else I'd be deathly ill the next day. Caffeine and sugar were long gone by then too. Anything could upset the balance. It was just Crystal Light and vodka mixed 50/50 for the last couple years. Or double vodka/soda/lime at the bars. It was getting to be that drinking out would be too unpredictable so I'd just drink at home and talk on the phone with people. If I went out planning to have a few and then get properly drunk at home I'd always "forget" or change my mind and then blackout in public. Glad it got so bad or else I'd still be killing myself a little every day. My friends who drank that hard and didn't quit have been dying the last few years.
>>22083659I was wrecking a 30 rack of Busch lattes because the beer high was just better, and made for a more functional alcoholic. Not sure why most people choose vodka, the gin is right there.
>>22083661Of my people who have died, more of them drank 30 beers a day than drank a nightly fifth of hard A. It's the extended, near constant period of drinking that takes the liver out sooner. Going hard and fast is way more reckless for stuff like DUIs though. The beers all day guys could somehow manage to work or drive around and never seem that wasted. I drank twenty beers or more a few times but it was such a different way. So much urinating and just processing all that liquid. Of course that's because I binge drank fast. If you're drinking like 2 beers an hour every hour you're awake it's gotta be different.
>>22083398It's just the dilution. The presence of certain other chemicals does affect the severity of hangovers, however.
>>22083398There are other psychoactive drugs in booze in small quantities, this results in a different feeling. The rate of absorption also affects how drugs feel, something like vodka gets in your blood stream much quicker leading to different subjective effects. Google congeners, they're the main reason different drinks feel different and cause different types of hangovers of varying severity even if you have consumed exactly the same amount of ethanol. Dark drinks generally contain the most with stuff like vodka being the most 'pure' and therefore best for hangovers.
>>22083610>But quit just bending "meme" to be whatever you want it to be in the moment.a meme is a packet of cultural information, so yes op was using it correctly>>22083398more sugar seems to make worse hangovers for me. straight shots of gin hurts less than red wine
>>22083651>If you're generally more positive and happy then that'll make a difference.im a depressed miserable arsehole fuck, but a happy drunk. no idea how
>>22083398There's not a strictly biological difference, but different flavors and contexts will necessarily put you into different moods even if the only thing the ethanol does is lower your inhibitions. Buying cheap vodka and watering it down just enough to tolerate the taste and guzzling a bunch of it alone in a dark room will get you one kind of drunk. Getting a nice whiskey with a flavor you really enjoy and having one too many glasses of it while you're out with friends will get you a different kind of drunk.
Finally on the tail end of withdrawals after a month long handle of vodka every day bender. It's amazing how much energy I have back already. I do feel like I did some brain damage this time though. I'm a lot more forgetful and struggle with quick math now that I'm sober. Eating soup is still embarrassing. My hand shakes like a 90 year olds. This withdrawal wasn't as bad somehow though. I frontloaded a lot of the electrolytes and supplements because I knew I wouldn't be able to get them down during detox and I forced myself to eat at least twice a day. That was really hard but without something solid in my stomach as a base I would just immediately shit out any water I drank. I had anti nausea chews, heartburn meds, sleep aids, hydration gummies, kidney cleansers, and a bunch of other supplements to help my body recover. Plus I actually tapered correctly this time.I still haven't found a way to stop the nightmares though. I hope i never go back but if I do, I at least feel like I could survive it. White knuckling it when I ran out before, I wasn't sure if I was going to live through it.If you're starting to drink every day stop while you still can. It's so much fun until one day it isn't.
>>22083398Hops has some calming chemical in them aswell so beer made with hops is extra relaxing.
>>22083811Holy shit, good for you. Sounds like you did the best you could without medical assistance. I always worried about getting to that point. I took up cannabis because I need to have something. I don't dream at all really using that every night. That might solve your nightmare problems.
>>22083818Fun little fact, hops are actually related to weed.
>>22083811I really feel sorry for you, I have the genetics to just switch between "get drunk every day" to "as straightedge as Ian McKaye and the only thing it effects is how willing I am to yell out something stupid.
>>22083398>Is there any truth to the meme that different types of "alcohol" effects people differently?different types of alcohol effect different people diferently.
>>22083506who said the behavior has to be shitty to be different?
>>22083804>no idea howyour superego is fighting you due to societal leanings of morality.drinking allows the ego to disregard the superego and be happy for a change.this is how most alcoholics are created.
>>22083398they want to think it's different, but it's not"i can't have jack daniels", no, you can't get shit faced, there's a differenceyour body doesn't care about the 0.5% of whatever ingredient is flavoring the alcohol, it's still alcohol
>>22084260
>>22083890makes sense, good thing i stared drinking post college so i completely missed the binging years
>>22083398Yes, my hangovers from gin are substantially more nauseous than other liquors, even if I puke less. Something to do with the botanicals, I assume. My headaches from wine tend to be worse, but the hangovers are otherwise much better than beer. Something to do with a dehydrating effect from the tannins, I suppose.>>22083643I think this is an association thing; if people associate certain liquors with specific moods the liquor then exacerbates the idea and takes them to that state. Just like college girls and tequila.>>22083800>congenersI learned something new today. I was always trying to refer to the "additives" that distinguished different liquors, and people assumed I was drunkenly raving.
>>22084269Booze ain't food.
>>22083398It is just a meme alcohol is just pure ethanol it is all the same. There are no other oils or compounds in alcohol.
>>22083398Im a beer drinker for a reason,>whiskey drunk make me forget everything>vodka drunk makes me lose track of time>tequila drunk makes me want to do coke>gin drunk numbs me out i avoid hard stuff these days and only drink beer.
>>22083884And yet there is no truth to the statement.
>>22083398Beer sedates me much more than spirits. Probably the hops or the sheer amount of liquid. For spirits it's probably more a set and setting thing. I also highly doubt that methanol will affect it at all. Grain swill has almost none at all while it's just a thing in fruit brandies and especially those made from pomace.
The worst hangover I ever had was when I went to a wedding at a winery. I wasn't much of a wine drinker but I thought I'd give every variety a chance. The next morning I had a thumping headache and a sore throat. It continued to get worse until I couldn't get out of bed. Pretty sure I actually had COVID or some shit but I still blame the wine.
>>22083514That's placebo because they see mexicans getting wasted with 3 shots of tequila and starting fights with each other so they think "tequila = angry" missing the point latinos have low tolerance to alcohol and get irritated easily when drunk.t. Mexican
>>22083610>So now meme means "claim"?Memes are ideas that spread like brain parasites, meme doesn't mean "funny picture" or "joke".
>>22084860But they aren't something you "fall for". They aren't trickery. You guys always defend the thing but you fail to defend it in the use where I'm resisting.
>>22083610You should get tested for ADHD/Autism, and I'm not memeing.Alcohol affects both those groups far differently than people without. The biggest indicator is that your energy levels spike from dopamine rushes. I also get super animated, talkative and excited when I drink. Which makes me want to drink more and more, and more often. This will cause you issues in your 30s or later, it will cause you to gain too much weight and it will cause your sleep to be negatively affected. Sleep is going to be your biggest enemy and you can't just force caffeine upon yourself to fix it.
>>22084858I usually hear tequila called the “wild drunk”, usually by women. Like it’ll get you dancing on top of tables and shit. I don’t think those people understand alcohol nor do they care.
>>22084858that makes senseplus because of the acquired taste its seen as the "challenge" spirit
>>22083506Seems a strange thing to lie about. I don't drink but if an alcoholic tells me that different types of alcohol get him drunk in different ways then I'd be inclined to believe him. Wouldn't alcoholics be the experts?
>>22085046No actual alcoholic will claim bullshit like that. They don't care as long as the drinks are equivalent to whatever they prefer. Most will drink just any dry spirit and couldn't care less except for flavour. With other stuff it's different. Like wine with its acidity, liqueurs with all the sugar, beer with the low abv etc.
My dad gets mean when he has Fireball.
>>22085147Shut up Orel
>>22083398Depends.The alcohol itself: Strong drinks like vodka make it easier to consume more alcohol in a given time, making you drunk faster and more dehydrated since you're getting less water compared to light beer. The beverage: Sweet beverages like ciders or cocktails usually contain a bunch of sugar, which makes you more hyper, counteracting the effects of the alcohol. Wines contain tannins, which can make you nauseous or give you headaches. Beer contains malt, which doesn't do much beyond making you fat.
>>22085046most alcoholics are retarded
>>22083506gay teetotaler nerd
>>22083398different types of alcohol have different rates of absorption. the effects on your gut and degree of hangover is highly related to the type of booze
>>22084442wrong
Vodka = party mode and sociable, very talkativeBeer = just feel full. Only good during the dayWine = ridiculous headacheBourbon = liquid heroin Tequila = full party mode
>>22083398higher alcohol % beverages will get you more drunk faster, compared to like, light beer. there is no difference in where the ethyl alcohol comes from, other than how quickly you can consume it. It's a faggot bro-science idiot retard gorillia nigger thing to say something like "huh, tequila makes me happy and bourbon makes me sad" other than the psychological effect.
>>22085918this is really stupid logic. if this were true there would be no difference between bottom shelf vodka and premium brands. there are chemical reasons why alcohol is processed differently aside from ethanol
>>22085918>faggot bro-science idiot retard gorillia niggerit lashes out because it doesn't understand
>>22083398Some people are allergic to certain grains. I know of several people that won't drink Bud because of the rice they use.
>>22083398it's like, you know, dude the terpenes, and other stuff, they like, come together in different amounts and like, all effect the high i mean drunk differently. i think it's called, like the entourage effect or something dude
>>22083398Ethanol is ethanol, but delivery method can affect the dose-response curve, and ethanol has quite different seeming effects at different dose rates over time. Many "coloured" alcohols also have cogener alcohols and tarve amounts of other psychoactive substances (like GBL in red wines). They most certainly affect the hangover. Things like prosecco can even have a seemingly differing effect from equivalent dry white wine due to the small bubble size increasing rate of uptake
>>22087962But also a huge amount is the "preloaded" given stereotype some has of a certain drink
>>22083398Beer gives me explosive diarhea shit chunks but clear liqour and hard seltzers just make me queef mucous out my butt
>>22087967What the hell is wrong with your ass?
>>22083398It's the truth. Some alcohols are made with specific ingredients that affect the end result
>>22083506How is that supposed to be a cope you mongoloid? Do you even understand what OP meant?Apparently your drunken dad hasn't beaten you enough
>>22083398I get a different type of buzz from the various crops that produce alcohol.
>>22087778>entourage effectI didn't know there was a term for it. But people have said similar things with tobacco and caffeine too, that vaping doesn't feel as good as actual tobacco or energy drinks don't feel as good as tea. We might've identified the main psychoactive compound in these things but there are so many others. Same reason why artificial flavors never taste quite right.
