Big boy

Negative. This is a Big Boy. Probably more interesting to make at home, too.
>>
Experiment concluded. 8oz ground beef is too large for even a "restaurant size" brioche bun. I also think 2oz and not 2.5oz is the right size for a single smash pattie.

Burger thread.

This was my inspiration. I even shaped the patty about 1in in diameter larger than the bun and made a dimple. Still made itself into a ball
>>
I think a 5-6oz burger and a hotter grill would have made for a pink inside and thin enough to reasonably bite

wtf
do you have a vertical mouth?
>>
>>22085301
Then you just suck.
My hand made patties end up looking like thin McDonald's ones and I stack 2 w/cheese in between n bacon with it still being a flatish finished burger.
>>
>>22085998
ate it. a double-cheese cost 6 bucks now?!?!
>>

How tall and narrow can you make a burger?

Does /ck approve of this one? Didn't feel like cutting onions this time. Iceberg lettuce instead of romaine. 6oz instead of 8oz. American + cheddar
>>

What did/will you do with the rest of the tomato?

5 min hold. Finally the color is right. I've been having a hard time with that lately, even with my thermopen

I had two slices on the first one, two slices on this one, and I made two tomato sandwiches yesterday for lunch. Tomato is gone.

I'll pass

Put the cheese on the bottom instead of having the whole thing upside down. Prevents the juices from making the bun soggy. Otherw...

Oh fuck no.

Why are all homemade burgers 90% bread?
>>
>>22087881
Pass because too rare or too well done?
>>
>>22087883
I don't understand. That's two people that have said no to the cross cut. It was over 135 internal when I took it off the heat. That lands it easily somewhere between medium rare and medium. I don't like rare burgers but I don't think there's anything wrong with medium rare. My personal preference is a true medium for ground beef unless I grind it myself.
>>
>>22087853
looks absolutely gorgeous
>>22087857
if this was served to me i would never come back to that restaurant. looks like it should still be moo-ing
>>
>>22085877
Why are people calling something else a big boy? Bob's was the original and McD's is the counterfeit.
>>
>>22087956
ground beef isnt like a cut of steak, it isn't as safe to eat because of how its ground together with other parts of the cow. thats why a lot of people have issues with ground beef at anything other than well done
>>
>>22087956
the biggest thing is that if you enjoyed the burger thats all that matters! :) it does look fantastic and its very photogenic, i just think you'll find a lot of people don't like underdone burgers compared to an underdone steak
>>
>>22087961
Meat isn't cooked simply to sterilize it, proteins change when heated changing taste texture and bioavailability. I'm not eating uncooked meat of any kind.
>>
>>22087961
I’ve eaten my fair share of medium rare-medium tube meat burgers and never gotten sick. Probably doesn’t mean much but that’s my experience.
>>
>>22087979
i mean you can probably eat a small amount of raw ground beef and be okay. i specifically said "as safe" because im sure youll probably be okay most of the time but it just isnt as safe as fully cooked through ground beef is all. again, its totally up to you! your burger is still very pretty! and if it was yummy for you then thats awesome!! :) thank you for sharing your pictures!! :)
