the whole 4chan discourse around Ramsay is incredibly disingenuous. even the grilled cheese thing is blown way out of proportion and ignores the whole context around the production of those videos.

there's a lot to criticize Ramsay for. he's a sellout, his face is filled with plastic, his tv shows are over dramatized, he often puts little effort into his youtube videos. but people acting like he can't cook is just dumb.

>And he can't properly cook a grilled cheese.
He can and he did.

What you missed was the whole video where he visited a cheesemaker and he was using his cheese.
He knows full well that a mature cheese will not leak all over the place like Americans prefer with their 'imitation cheese flavored food product'

It's a grilled cheese sandwich not a handful of slop.

>>22098312
>. was he cooking it in his fireplace or am I remembering something else?
Something else.

A slab of hard mature cheese will not melt and it's pure folly to pretend otherwise, he knows this and so should you.
It would have been hot but it would NEVER melt like a Kraft slice.
>>
The problem with the grilled cheese video is that people act like Gordon personally set up the entire video himself. Handpicked the kitchen equipment, the ingredients, etc. But that's not how people on his level operate. The man has an entire production team that prepares all of that for him. Gordon likely didn't even know what he would be cooking until he showed up to film. Now, should he have had the awareness to realize he messed up and done another take? Probably, but the dude is busy and has a massive ego, and probably just doesn't care that much about his youtube channel. So he probably did a single take in a rush and fucked off. Should the production team have realized it was bad and not uploaded it? Maybe, but then they don't get paid.
It was just a bungled production. They chose a poor location, and poor ingredients. If this was made by somebody who was more personally involved in their content creation, it probably wouldn't have seen the light of day, but Gordon is really just an actor in these, the videos are made by a company. If you think because of that video that Gordon would be incapable of making a proper melty grilled cheese if he actually wanted to, you are being disingenuous.

melting the cheese is a requirement
>>
>>22098333
>melting the cheese is a requirement
Only to Americans who are used to having a cheese that melts at room temperature.

I have seen these complaints before when a guy serves a baked potato with grated cheese on top and Americans have a hissy fit because because the cheese isn't melted.

Must be a cultural thing.
>>
>>22098297
Spotted the Europoor. Real chefs don't respect Gordon. He is a meme that got popular doing shitty reality tv. Their are no good British chefs. Common knowledge that they have the worst food in the entire world. You live in a tiny bubble while the whole world laughs at you people.

Nope, it was a really thick sandwich and only in the pan for a minute because it was overheated and the bread was burning. Try and make an excuse for the bread being burned lol. There wasn't even any steam from the heat despite him trying to emphasize how hot it was. A fireplace isn't great for proper heat control and probably not something he actually does regularly, just for that video which is why it was fucked up and burning the outside while undercooking the inside.

you are an unapologetic eurofag. i have never made a grilled cheese sandwich with a kraft single. either sliced cheese from the deli, or shredded cheese i grated myself. all kinds, different bread too. guess what? the cheese fucking melts when you heat it properly, instead of dropping it in a pan and then quickly realizing you’re about to burn the bread and look like an even bigger jackass in one take

>>
>>22100197
Did you see the thickness of the cheese he used?
How do you expect that to melt?

It's only Americans that screamed and had a fit because they normally have a gooey mess and that is what they are used too.
Same as the incinerated wood shavings they call bacon, unless it's the same burnt, brittle offering, it's called 'undercooked ham'.

There is a whole world outside of America that doesn't eat the same as Americans eat (eg. Not covered with Lowrys)

The cheese could've been razor thin and it still wouldn't have melted because he burned it in a fucking fireplace in 60 seconds and heat never reached the center.

>>22098141
How do I eat it without spilling half of it in my lap?

Structurally the one that he was shitting on is better than the jenga tower of burger components that he needed to skewer just for the camera shot. And he played it up like a retarded nob who's never eaten a burger in his life so I give no quarter to him.

No, he's right. Ramsey did cook it in his fucking fireplace.

>>22100388
>How do you expect that to melt?
He specifically says in the video that he cooked it to get the cheese "nicely melted"
https://youtu.be/8E4cQHejFq0?t=253
So shut the fuck up, retard. You can see in the video that the crust was straight up black black on one part after just two minutes because he just had to cook it in a fucking fireplace. It's clear that his pan got too hot for him to give it any more time on either side to give the sandwich time to warm up in the middle without actually burning the bread.

>here is your Michelin star chef grilled cheese!
Lmaoooo
>>
>>22100515
You can have a grilled sandwich without all of the internal components being emulsified.

If I made a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, I don't expect the ham to have a Maillard Reaction, just because it's grilled.

I have seen the same with hotdogs . . .a simple hotdog with just a bread roll, sausage and onions . . . .What can go wrong???

If you flash fry onions, to just crisp the edges but retain the rawness, it's somehow a crime in the USA where the expectation is to sweat them down to a sweet flavored mush.

****NEWSFLASH****
Not everyone eats the same as Americans eat.

Maybe you have trouble reading english, so I'll ask you again:
Was the cheese supposed to be melted at the end in Ramsey's video or not?
Read that slowly and give me a yes or no, or I will interpret your whining as you apologizing to me and shitting yourself.
>>
>>22100530
Most hot dog stands in America use uncooked, diced onions. And grilled cheese requires the cheese to be melted. Case closed.
>>
>>22100535
You have already lost and you are just running around in circles, refusing to accept anything outside of your bubble.

Am I being detained?
>>
>>22100539
I just wanted a simple answer to a yes or no question. Why are you so afraid of answering it?
Was the cheese at the end of Ramsey's video supposed to be melted or no?
I would trust world-class chef Gordon Ramsey on his opinion in the video, which is that it SHOULD be melted, but maybe you think you know better than him.

I know you want to change the subject to things like hotdogs or onion-cooking techniques and we can talk about that...
...as soon as you answer the question that was the original point we were arguing about.
>>
>>22098167
Indian hands typed this. I wanted to say "hi Gordon" but this is so jeet coded it's brutal.
>>
>>22100545
Other anons and myself have already addressed this, it's not melted in the way Americans expect and it's true that he must have known that a hard cheese would not melt the same way as American cheese.

I'm just running in circles here.
>>
>>22100549
>melted the way Americans expect
Can you name me a country where I would order a grilled cheese and it is traditional for the cheese to be totally unmelted?

>>22100549
>I'm just running in circles here
More that you're running with goalposts because you got contradicted by the chef you're trying to defend. Retards here like you are saying that it shouldn't melt at all, that it would be folly to expect it to melt period:
>>22098317
>A slab of hard mature cheese will not melt and it's pure folly to pretend otherwise
>>22100388
>How do you expect that to melt?
But Gordon Ramsey himself said the opposite in the video you were arguing about but apparently haven't watched in some time. Now it WILL melt but just differently is I guess where you are moving the goalposts. But it wasn't melted at all in the video. He cuts the sandwich into quarters and then takes a bite out of it and it is still 100% solid and unmelted.
>>
>>22100550
Pretty much all of them except the USA.

Most of Europe are proud of their cheeses and the only cheeses that melt are bland and made for melting, like Camemberts or mozzarellas .
