hangover “cures” are a meme. I have yet to find a dish that actually cures a hangover. It’s always a mission trying to eat when I’m hungover because I feel nauseous and have zero appetite. But I eat with the goal of fixing my hangover, and every time I am left immensely disappointed because I still feel sick and nauseous after eating. I’ve tried them all; pho, greasy food, spicy food, various soups of stews, coffee, even healthy options like salads or goddam açaí bowls. anyone who tells you hangover cures exist is straight up lying to you or lying to themselves
The best way is simply to drink an unholy amount of water right before bed.
>>22098334the best way is to just not drink alcohol
>>22098334there’s different degrees of hungover and not everyone has exactly the same type of hangovers. people who claim that eating grease or whatever the fuck will instantly have you back to 100% are probably being hyperbolic. the truth is more like if you eat a proper meal, rehydrate, and sleep you will be back to 100% by the end of the day (it’s required, even. you will not feel better until you satisfy these conditions). unless you’re old or have been on a multi day drunken bender, those hangovers can be much worse.
>>22098334not true
>>22098339This is the best way I've found too
>>22098334>doesn't have a bottle of pedialyte on standby at all timeswhat the fuck are you even doing bro
99% of a "hangover" is caused by you being severely dehydrated, having pissed away all your water and your electrolytes. Just drink a couple gatorades or a pedialyte or a liquid iv or something. It's not rocket science.
>>22098334>hangover “cures” are a meme.yeah no shit. anyone over 25 can tell you that.>>22098339>>22098363doesn't help. period. the only thing i've found helps is by limiting the alcohol ingested. if you want to get a good buzz for an hour or 2 or 3, perfectly manageable without a hangover. may be a little tired the next day.if you want to get seriously drink for several hours, expect a hangover.
>>22098334the key is to keep drinking (yes this works)
>>22098387But what do I do the day after that?
>>22098334"Cures" don't really exist for anything. Just symptom management while your body goes about its routine maintenance.Fat can help ease the stomach. Electrolytes like salt and potassium are good because you pissed a bunch out whilst drinking. Certain specific foods (eggs for example, fermented vegetables too) contain enzymes that help break down secondary byproducts of alcohol metabolism. Spicy foods act as vasodilators to manage inflammatory pain. Simple carbs restore glucose stores. If you were expecting some magic potion to immediately absolve you of the consequences of your actions then I don't know what to tell you.
>>22098376This is true. If I have like 8 beers over a few hours and go to bed at 11 or 12 I won't be hungover. If I drink 12 or more beers and stay up lollygagging until 3 or 4 or 5 I'll be hungover when I wake up.
>>22098376I've been a major alcoholic for years (I don't mean to brag but I hallucinated just earlier today) and drinking tons of water helps. Also every time you wake up in the middle of the night to piss, drink another tall glass of water. It usually takes 5 or 6 tall glasses of water over a couple of hours to rehydrate. You can tell if you didn't drink enough water if your face is puffy in the morning or your uvula is swollen. Or when you eat in the morning and the roof of your mouth hurts. These are all signs of dehydration. The closest thing to a real hangover cure is an energy drink. I assume the B vitamins in energy drinks are the same vitamins depleted by alcohol because drinking an energy drink takes like 50% of a hangover away instantly.
>>22098387it kinda works, though it’s definitely possible to be drunk and hungover at the same time.
>>22098452Your vulva swells when you're dehydrated? Wtf man. I've been a bad alcoholic too and I think you're energy drink hypothesis is partly true. Alcoholism fucks with b vitamin absorption. Most alcoholics are vitamin deficient. B vitamin deficiency is actually what causes wet brain. The other part of the energy drink equation is caffeine masks some of the hangover symptoms.
Not a food But activated charcoal before bed really helpsMaybe even again in the morning

>>22098514I stop for months occasionally cold turkey and I just get auditory hallucinations for a few days at night and can't sleep. My family is made up entirely of alcoholics so I assume I have some kind of genetic resistance to DTs because I've never heard of a family member having DTs or pancreatitis. I usually know I have to stop when I've gone 3 days without eating and anything other than B1, B12, iron, and vitamin c. Or when I start mixing salt into water so I don't die of hyponatremia.

Hangovers are less severe when I drink white russians
>>22098376>doesn't help. period. You probably drank like one or two glasses. You need to drink 5 or 6.
Sleep slows down the breakdown of alcohol. That is why you wake up with a hellish headache and nausea.
>>22098339you do the water plus you take a shot every 2 hours when you get up to piss.
>>22098553You sound like a pussy.
>>22098570I can't really control my gastric motility. I also drink very large quantities of alcohol which is known to delay gastric emptying. If I knew a fix for it I would absolutely do it because it's kind of ruining my life
>>22098542How much do you drink a day? When I was a 12 pack a day alcoholic, I quit cold turkey after a few years of that level of drinking and I had the chills (cold turkey goosebumps) the sweats, racing heart, very very mild hand shakes, and I had a minor visual hallucination. I was smoking at night in my backyard and when I stubbed the cig out on the ground the ember started moving slowly away from me. I thought I got the ember on a slug or beetle or something and I tapped it with the toe of my shoe but there was nothing there and the glowing ember vanished like magic. I've quit the 12 pack a day habit cold turkey many times to dry out and the withdrawals are always very minor and only last a day. I guess 12 drinks a day isn't enough to get severe withdrawals.
>>22098593It usually gets worse and worse until I quit at like a 15 pack a day. I have a job so I really can never become a 30 pack a day alcoholic. You're probably right that it just isn't enough to cause severe withdrawal. I'm also not drunk all day long since I have a job. Right now I'm drinking about 10 to 12 a day, usually in the span of like 3 hours. I get visual and auditory hallucinations when I'm falling asleep or waking up. Usually I see shit floating in the air above me right when I wake up.Also I'm a pretty small person at 5'8 and 130 pounds so 10 beers for me is probably like 15 beers for someone who is 6 foot and 200 pounds. I often wake up still drunk 5 or 6 hours after passing out. For me the worst symptom of withdrawal is just the sense of dread and uneasiness and I get really jumpy especially when I can't tell which sounds are real or hallucinations.

I never get auditory hallucinations and the only visual one I've ever had I already described. What are the auditory hallucinations you're hearing like?
>>22098640Auditory hallucinations are way more common I've heard. I live near a busy road so I hallucinate police sirens, whistles, vocal murmuring that sounds like it's coming from the next room with nobody in it. Usually I can tell if it's a hallucination because it sounds like it's right next to my head but other times when it's vague and distant I can't tell if it's real or not. I also have a cat and I think I've hallucinated her meowing.
>>22098334sucky sucky fuk fuk gook bao bao love you long timehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_Q5dSbBczE
>>22098648That's odd. I've been an alcoholic with a similar drinking habit to your own for a decade and I've never had auditory hallucinations.
>>22098656I think on some level it's also linked to anxiety because it's worse when I'm withdrawing. I have very bad generalized anxiety which is the reason I drink to begin with. When I'm hung over I'm also very anxious. I also have vivid nightmares and sometimes I dream while I'm still awake. Laying in bed with my eyes closed and basically watching a movie in my mind.
>>22098666>devil digitsYou're cursed, dude. I have horrible diagnosed GAD too which is one main reason why I drink. I have the vivid nightmares if I don't smoke weed before bed. Weed is a really powerful anti dream tool. It really works at suppressing dreams but I suspect that's at the cost of deep REM sleep. Also have the constant anxiety movies playing in my head when I close my eyes. To quiet the thoughts and anxiety visuals I constantly listen to/watch degenerate IRL live streamers. Livestreams are so dynamic and there's always something interesting or funny happening.
>>22098334You have to figure out what works for your stomach though. Oj, toast and greasy eggs does it for me, the thought of pho makes me want to puke What foods make your stomach feel good in general?

>>22098334>TFW no big tiddy Viet whore to eat pho with Fucking kill me
>>22098729Oh, no. I would not recommend trying it now if you've never done it. Weed today is really strong compared to what it was 25 years ago when I started smoking. With your anxiety issues and whatever else is making you crazy it's not a good idea. There's a good chance you would end up with psychosis. I've been a daily weed smoker since the mid 2000s so my tolerance is very high and I'm acclimated to the effects of marijuana so modern high strength weed doesn't bother me. I always (wrongly) assume other alcoholics are also experienced drug users like me. It's rare to find an alcoholic who doesn't do drugs as well or has zero experience with drug abuse.
>>22098334You're using 'meme' to mean 'myth'. A 'meme' is not necessarily something untrue so I wish you fucking retarded kids would stop using the word incorrectly. Hangover cures are NOT a 'meme'.
>>22098748Oh fuck off. If the weed is stronger you smoke less. No one takes a hit off of some 27% THC weed and goes into psychosis.
>>22098334Hydrating is a huge portion of it but chugging water before bed won't help. Alcohol blocks secretion of ADH resulting in your kidneys not recollecting water like they should. This effect takes a long time to stop so chugging before bed won't help much. The second and arguably most important part is acetaldehyde. This shit is the primary metabolite of alcohol and causes nausea, anxiety/dread, headaches, and palpitations. Acetaldehyde is poison and takes a healthy person ~24 hours to excrete. The only REAL treatment for a hangover is hair of the dog. Alcohol directly agonizes GABA receptors which severely reduces the anxiety/dread feeling and dampens nausea. The ultimate hangover cure is really a few beers and a hearty/salty soup followed by hours of sipping water/diluted gatorade. Pho or menudo are my favorites.
>Hangover curesRetarded>Hangover ManagementIts literally this. How and what you drink determines your hangover severity and what you can do to mitigate and outright eliminate it before you sleep/passout. >Any alcoholic drink with sugarMakes about any hangover so much worse>B-Complex before, during or before sleepingI try to eat a medium sized meal before drinking and take this along with zinc and d3 and it helps a lot.>WaterYeah whatever that rule is about water but add another cup. I seriously find myself pissing way too much when I drink so I definitely do not skimp on the water.>No Hangovers but still very tired the next dayStill haven't figured this out I wake up the next day able to operate just fine but have mild to medium fatigue. I really wish there was a way to eliminate that last one
>>22098334It really depends on what causes your hangover. For some people (diabetics or borderline diabetics), the symptoms of a hangover are chiefly the disruption of blood sugar levels. Eating a good meal the morning after will fix this. For others, the hangover is the result of dehydration. Drinking water before bed will diminish it, and eating salty foods along with more water in the morning will help reestablish electrolyte balance and fix the hangover. For others, it's just innate sensitivity to alcohol metabolites. As far as I know, there's no reliable cure for this aside from drinking in moderation, which is gay as fuck.
>>22098754No, not after a hit. But if someone is mentally ill, suffers from extreme anxiety, is an alcoholic, and has zero experience with weed it's not a good idea to try it in current year. It is not an entirely benign drug like redditors would have you believe. Especially modern weed that's been bred to be a THC bomb. The other cannabinoids that even out the THC and make for a smooth relaxing high have been bred out in favor of THCmaxxing.
>>22098748I actually avoided all drugs until I turned like 23 and got a really shitty and stressful job and ended up drinking and vaping. Now I'm 32 and been drinking on and off heavily for almost 10 years. I don't vape anymore because I had a heart rate of like 100 all day long every day although I loved doing it. Anxiety has taken everything from me unfortunately. I've done prescription Xanax (which I don't have anymore because doctors here don't like to give addictive drugs) but other than that I've only done nicotine and alcohol.

I know one of them was "Beer:30". I think the other was Keystone Light, it's been so long I'm not sure tho.Anyway, they both tasted like formaldehyde, and I got a headache within minutes.Meanwhile, I once wanted to test my alcohol tolerance and drank something like a third of a bottle of Kirkland Signature Irish Whisk(e)y and other than having to stagger to bed I had no problems.tl;dr: drink even moderately decent quality stuff and you won't be sick later
>>22098899>a third of a bottle>a lot
>>22098899there are a lot of factors that go into a hangover. congeners are a big one. genetics plays a much larger role than most people admit. your health and hydration at the time of drinking have a huge impact as well. your age is a big factor. and your alcohol tolerance. generally the more often you drink the milder your hangovers will be.
I drink a liter of pickle brine after boozing.
>>22098334Drink Gatorade and go back to sleep for an hour.

It’s not just the physical symptoms if you’re a long term alcoholic, it’s the effect on your GABA receptors. So you might be able to beat the physical symptoms with hydration and electrolytes, but dragging your brain up and down over and over again is going to give you mad whiplash. This doesn’t necessarily mean you are always going to feel like shit the day after, it just means you are way more susceptible to mood swings and other shit. The point is, everything is subjective, there is no miracle cure, and everyone who is drinking is doing so for a reason. What that reason is, and whether it is a worth the drawbacks, is up to you.
>>22099220I definitely notice the mood swings.
>>22098557Not everyone wants to spend all night sucking off slavs.
>>22099220There are specific brands and alcohols that give me hangovers. I can go crazy with some Vodka and not a feel a thing the next morning. But if I drink say, some E&J i have to be more careful or I'm fucked. what do you think is the reason for that
>>22098812This is my favorite rabbit hole when it comes to Marijuana that keeps getting overlooked because of decades of counter-programming that was "Its just a plant, its safer than alcohol" now studies are popping up and they think the higher THC content in weed may be linked to a increase in schizophrenia but they aren't for sure yet.

Water + electrolytes + 4 eggs for breakfast + NAC + advil. You'll feel functional in a couple hours.>>22099238Dark liquors, wine, or shitty IPAs and dark beers have a lot more congeners (byproducts like tannins and histamines) than clear spirits. Some of them nuke your stomach and make you feel like shit the next day if you drink a lot. >>22098369>99% of a "hangover" is caused by you being severely dehydratedThere is also acetaldehyde and congeners still being cycled out which cause toxic damage on their way out. But drinking water helps cycle those out.
Every other day rum drinker here. The answer for me is drinking lots of water mixed with a little ovaltine right before I pass out for bed. I make a huge insulated mug of it and sometimes wake up and drink more of it. By the morning I am 95% fine. The next day I don't drink, I eat plenty off varieties of food which replenishes my body. I have been doing this for close to 20 years now. I am not an alcoholic and often go on long repositioning and world cruises without having a sip for weeks.
>>22098339No you drink a shit ton of water before bed and pound a half a beer when you wake up. Always works 100% success rate.

I don't know who decided to breed out the full spectrum cannabinoid strains in favor of super THC weapons grade weed but I hate them. I only have anecdotal evidence but the high grade THC only weed of today fucks people in the head way harder than full spectrum strains. The other cannabinoids are in there to balance out the THC. >>22098334Does she want the sex from me? My peepee feels funny.
>>22098339there's a limit to it. most of the hangover is not dehydration especially if you spiked your drunkenness at some point rather than just sucking down another shot per hour after you hit cruising drunkenness. If you can slow down your drinking to the point you can clear the aldehyde and not cause digestive irritation water will let you keep that level of drunk forever without a hangover though.
>>22101093*the limit is microscopic for asians though, light drinking all night will nuke them as bad as getting blackout drunk
Nobody believes me until they try it, but curcumin extract (found it tumeric) and black pepper. The japanese have a drink called Ukon Gold that has tumeric in it, but it's not really in a high enough concentration or being enhanced with piperine to get the beneficial effects of helping your liver deal with shifting the acetaldehyde that gets produced as you break down the alcohol (which is thought to contribute to hangovers).Sounds wacky, but I really recommend giving it a try sometime after drinking a lot, but before going to sleep. Shits magic.
I take a lukewarm shower and sip water little by little as I go.In the bathroom, it’s easy to clean up no matter what happens.

>>22102079Go chug some aquarium anti-parasitic treatment, it's like 10% aldehyde. It's the intermediate metabolite toxin that gets created from alcohol that makes you sick.
>>22102079Kind of but without the fever/chillsUsually headache, nausea, fatigue, sensitivity to sounds/lightIt's super easy to prevent though, and can take a few hours to resolve unless you're an actual idiot. I guess some people may be generically inclined differently but ultimately it's not a big deal unless you're stupid or negligent
>>22099723That's partially true. Weed is a weird drug to begin with. It's a physical depressant, mild hallucinogen in high doses and emotionally psychoactive (sorta like an antidepressant). THC is the primary cannabinoid that makes weed psychoactive, while CBD, CBN, and some terpenes give it it's physical depressent qualities and counteract paranoia. Naturally occuring weed, especially in higher latitudes, usually has about as much THC, as CBD, giving a comfortable body high and some mental relaxation, while strains closer to the equator tend to have higher THC and less CBD/CBN with a much more psychoactive high. It's those strains that the CIA began breeding and pushing to growers a couple decades before legalization, and is only made worse with extracts. Another thing people don't consider is the growing conditions. Weed is a fertilizer hog, and most available fertilizers are synthetic and will accumulate in the flower during the growing cycle, (some of which are alkaline metals) and if they aren't flushed out, are going to be present in the final product, and likely contribute to a lot of the negative reactions. If you aren't buying organic outdoor weed, you are smoking chemicals with your weed.
>>22098334my hangover "cure":1) spend as much time trying to stay asleep as possible2) chug a monster energy drink and a ginger ale3) throw up from the carbonation until there's nothing left in my stomach
>>22102183>and can take a few hours to resolve unless you're an actual idiotyeah that tracks. I still remember the first time I ever had a hangover was when I was a retarded teenager that lived off coca-cola. I had a migraine so bad I couldn't open my eyes in a dark room, I literally just layed in bed all day sipping on cokes for hydration. If I just drank like, water, I would have been on my feet before lunch.
>>22102487>It's those strains that the CIA began breeding and pushing to growers a couple decades before legalizationI agree with everything else you said but you lost me with me the above.
>>22098334You can't be hungover if you never stop drinking.
>>22102658Right, the CIA would never involve themselves with the drug market
>>22102710>It's those strains that the CIA began breeding and pushing to growers a couple decades before legalizationWhy?
>>22098744American GIs were hiring these 10/10s for 2$ per night during the warMaybe we were born in the wrong year...
>>22102721Who knows? Why would they distribute crack and run guns? The answer provided was money but that sounds like bullshit to me.Maybe the old guard still thinks weed will create a lazy population, so you keep the supply low on the lazy attributes? Maybe it cuts into a revenue stream that hasn't been divulged so they want to ruin the industry? Maybe they're still wanting to experiment on the population at large with psychoactives? We wouldn't know for another few decades if it's true
>>22102773Anons CIA weed conspiracy is retarded and makes no sense. Weed has become what it is now for a bunch of different reasons but I highly doubt the CIA is one of them. Growing technology and practices that allows higher potency weed to be produced developed. The stigma against weed use has been dropping every decade. The cartels moved away from bulky low profit brick weed to easier to move high potency drugs and high profit drugs like meth and fent. The medical marijuana industry, broad decriminalization, and legalization in many states is what created the industrial dispensary weed we have now. There's so much money to be made by everyone involved from growers to the states making billions in weed tax revenue. What I've said is a lot more believable than the CIA making weed stronger to make the masses retarded. They don't need helping making people retarded. The internet is doing a better job at that than anything else.
>>22098334Menudo always works for me
>>22102804I could hear the same explanation given about coke dealers for the crack explosion in the 80's.I'm not saying it's for sure true. I'm just saying the CIA being involved with making the weed industry worse would not even be the wildest thing they've done, and I would not be surprised if it's true
>>22102804There was no medical cocaine industry with medical cocaine dispensaries selling cocaine to anyone with a medical cocaine card , there wasn't broad decriminalization of cocaine, a legal recreational cocaine market with cocaine dispensaries on every corner never developed, there wasn't a broad societal acceptance of cocaine as a drug less dangerous than alcohol, there wasn't easy legal ready access to cocaine, there weren't legal cocaine growers bringing billions of dollars in tax revenue to states. It's an apples to oranges comparison.
>>22101425i don't think I'd go back. i've actually become way more productive and successful as an alcoholic. could be a coincidence with late 20s but I only romanticize the time spent with friends doing itglad you found some non medicinal shit tho
>>22102908weed psychosis is going to be absolutely ignored for decades
>>22102908was meant for >>22102876
>>22103033By the weed industry? YesBy the medical community? No, especially in illegal states.>>22102908Right, right, they don't get involved with legal industries like firearms.. To reiterate, my point is that it's not outside the realm of possibilities for the CIA to involve themselves like >>22102487 says. Of course it's not a 1-to-1 comparison, but the points you bring up are irrelevant. Legality doesn't matter to entities relatively above the law when the end goal is influencing the industry/publicPic related is a good hangover cure
>>22102653Yeah, I guess it's harsh to say stupid when half the time it's ignorance due to youth. When I started drinking at 21 it was with people who had already been drinking at like 16, and the water before bed thing was insisted upon
>>22098748bang on. I never really smoked or did edibles until I was around 25. Suffer *somewhat* from anxiety, but I kinda just will it away and suffer through it. Tried some edibles and nearly lost it, never again. Honestly was entirely scary and not at all fun and I've stopped drinking as well as a result. So overall maybe I can recommend them? lol.
