>The newest McDonald's prototype has been revealed and is available for franchisees whose restaurants are due for a remodel, or who are planning new locations

>The prototype stands as a symbol for the modern way consumers interact with fast-food restaurants. The prototype has lots of windows which means much of the building is see-through - with the kitchen almost fully visible from the dining room, and even the parking lot.

>The front counter has been reduced to a single window & to the left is a set of temperature-controlled order pickup lockers, so the locker for fries will be set at a temperature different from the chain’s McFlurry or iced coffee drinks

>There's also...a Playplace which is in the lobby area and is visible from the outside through red-tinted glass.

No one cares. Fuck that evil corporation. Stop promoting them.

nah the local Chinese will hoover them up

Satanic.
>>
>>22102879
yea cool because when i go to a fast food joint alone and sit down to eat i want every single person driving by to see and judge me
>>
This is designed to showcase their robots when human employees stop even trying to work in that condition
>>
all these windows are gonna be full of signs.

As long as the quarter pounder stays fresh and juicy, I don’t care what they do to the aesthetics of the building
>>
Wish they put the pickup lockers in their own vestibule off the side of the food prep area. Segregate the dashers and other gig drivers away from everyone else.
>>
>The prototype has lots of windows which means much of the building is see-through - with the kitchen almost fully visible from the dining room
I don't eat mcdonalds, but this is a beneficial feature as you can see what type of people are handling your food and make a proper judgement for yourself whether to eat there or not.
>>
>>22102925
Oh so you're going to stop eating fast food altogether? Because you know 99.9999% of kitchens are staffed by the same people.
>>
Open kitchens in fast food have been somewhat common for decades. Not every location has them but a lot of them do. In the case of the newer McDonald's, it's probably mostly due to having a back room area being less space efficient now that they've increased automation in so much of the process. Lots of the basic prep is done off site, so there no longer needs to be space for that. It also should be noted that the first McDonald's were pretty much see through, with the cooking are visible to all. The biggest difference now is that there are far fewer workers plus an indoor dining area.
>>
Surely more windows will make people rush in to pay $15 for D-grade beef.

A large part of the entire fast food experience is we pretend to not know what the sausage is made of. We pretend that the burger patties haven't been sitting in sickly yellow colored plastic warming station for 40 minutes that they grab and slap on a bun being handled by a 19 year old who probably cranks his shit 4 times a day and doesn't wash his hands after.
Why then would I want to sit in my car and watch that play out in real time before eating?
>>
>>22103017
Exactly, this is such a boneheaded move. No one wants to see in a kitchen and no one wants to be watched like a zoo animal. Cooking is stressful enough and shit gets real and people are pushed to their limit and if they have to be afraid that some cunt and her kids are going to hear him toss out a curse word it's going to make the job even shittier which means only shittier people will work the job making the service worse and the whole system eats itself. God I hate this whole fucking world, there isn't a single part of it that works rationally.

I expect franchisees will drop locations in Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Oakland and Memphis in short order.
>>
>>22103021
That outdoor patio would never be built in those locations anyway. Too many street people infesting them. It's already bad enough with them wandering inside but at least in that situation, the employees behind the counter can see and hear them. Outside, customers will have to run the stinky panhandling gauntlet to get to the door.
>>
Put a fence around it and you get a nice penitentiary block

I thought fast food buildings were now designed to be resold, this seems like a HVAC nightmare. The ACs are going to overloaded and broken constantly dont fix what aint broken etc
>>
>that much glass

This better be for a rich white suburb
>>

Practically a concentration camp compared to McDonald's 20 years ago
>>

That meme gets repeated endlessly but how many of the generic box fast food places have you seen actually sold? They're cheap to build and cheap to take down. As for the new McDonald's design, the roof has an overhang around it and they'll probably use double pane windows. Heat might be a problem in some locations in the afternoon, especially if it faces west but they could add a layer of blinds the lower automatically as needed. It messes with the look but concepts usually end up with these types of modifications when built.
>>
>>22102894
>>
>>22103223
yep. fast food joints are usually on prime real-estate as well. McFat's real-estate portfolio is estimated at 120 billion
>>
>>22103231
second only to the one true Church
>>
>>22103223
They'll make the blinds advertisements probably
>>
>>22103171
Tbf I think that is the plan given their pricing
>>
>>22102890
if you're so fat you're ashamed to be seen eating fast food you should not be eating fast food
>>
>>22103234
Yet another meme. The Catholic Church owns Vatican City and a few properties in Rome. The properties of individual church buildings do not belong the Catholic Church itself. They're the property of the individual parish, a distinct legal entity, that can, and some have, break away from the Catholic Church, taking their property with them, as it belongs to the parish, not the Church. Forbes stopped listing the Catholic Church as being one of the top land owners in the world but the myth continues on because some people care more about an agenda or sounding interesting with "factoids" even if they know they're not true.
>>
>>22103394
I wasn't implying a single country or legal entity owned all the land, only that it was owned by the catholic church which is many entities all of which are aligned to the same organisation and are under the leadership of the pope.

it's more a curiosity of demographics
>>
>>22102879
i dig it
>>
>>22102879
it reminds me of the old mcdonald's restaurants which were walk up only. i think it's kino.

it's gonna have wasp nests and homeless.
>>
>>22102879
It won't work. No one wants to be in a fishbowl, and no one wants to sit outside with a scenic view of a parking lot.

Agreed, and the play places were always a good idea.

This isn't very green. There should be no windows or very limited at the very top of the wall to let a little light in. Even so, LEDs are still better than multi-pane windows.

Guess the feds will be locking up franchisees left and right, then, under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
>>
>>22102894
I was never allowed to play in the ball pit because my mom would always tell me that brown kids would piss in there instead of getting out and going to the bathroom. Looking back, I don't think she was wrong
>>
>>22103167
this is built to be dissassembled in a weekend.
>>
>>22103632
I wish. It'd be fun if they brought a pop up McDonald's out rural for like two weeks. Every old man in the community would meet there in the morning, kids would flood the place in the afternoon. It'd get so much business. Then disassembled and taken somewhere else. I know an empty parking lot they could set up in and even hook up to sewage.
>>
>>22103223
>They're cheap to build and cheap to take down.
You're so close to getting it...
It's so they can resell the property easily. If you can tear down the building easily then it makes it easier to resell the property.
>>
>>22102879
Philadelphia had one like that in the 90s. It was shuttered then immediately torn down in 2019ish. They even had the original mascot on it rather than Ronald
>>
>>22103223
>how many of the generic box fast food places have you seen actually sold?
Several dozens, but usually to another chain. Not fast food, but I know of a Pinoy restaurant in a former IHOP, with the A frame and everything

i really hope this kills the company

hold on... i got it... macdonalds... but.... its always hot inside
thoughts? let me hear em
