i think i'm developing restless leg syndrome. apparently one of its causes is an iron deficiency. now i don't think i have any vitamin/mineral deficiencies in my diet but i'm desperate at this point. give me some iron-rich food/meals to try, fast-food or not.
>>22103582i have bad anemia and i don't have any leg problems. go get a checkup. if you still want to eat lots of iron, then eat raw beef liver. cooking food massively lowers the bioavailability of iron since it has to be in an organic complex to be used by your body
Buy 200 bags of any breakfast cereals, pour water inside the bags, get a high powered magnet and put it on one lower corner of the bag until all the iron bits gather in the corner.Collect the iron bits and swallow them.Or you can suck on an old pipe until it's shiny.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQ5lzpAw2qE
>>22103582If you have an iron deficiency then just get an iron bisglycinate supplement. It's really hard to correct a nutritional deficiency through diet alone. Iron bisglycinate is pretty well absorbed and doesn't cause many side effects like other forms do.
>>22103587i forgot to mention that vitamin C is very good for increasing iron absorption so eat some oranges when you eat the liver
>>22103587To get enough iron from beef liver to correct an iron deficiency you'll probably end up overloading on copper.
>>22103636The interplay of mineral absorption is difficult for me to understand, doesn't iron reduce copper absorption and vice versa?
Only sensible post set I have seen is over herehttps://www.reddit.com/r/norge/comments/1rqarr8/restless_legs_rls/Medical:pramipeksol, pregabalin or LyricaCheck if its akathisia or chronic comparted leg syndrom Try to OD on magnesiumglycinat and Potassium, and see if it helps. Ferritin should be in the upper 1/3 percentile, not at normal low levels.
I started to get RLS after drinking (which is fairly often) so I started taking magnesium-suppliments. That dealt with the problem. It's a very unpleasant thing to have, can't sleep at all, can't get comfortable for a second
>>22103582>iron deficiencyif you're male this is not a thing unless you have a serious condition.broccoli and liver is filled with iron.
>>22103643It can but it mainly applies to high dose supplements. Lower dose supplements and food don't have that issue as much.
>>22103582I wouldn't worry too much about iron, I would be more inclined to look at potassium and sodium, the usual electrolytes. Iron deficiency will affect you more than just a twitchy leg and it's not that common in males. If you are a drinker, then look at additional B vitamins. Everyone drinks too much water these days and this has the effect of diluting electrolytes.
>>22103665what's the difference between magnesium glycinate and sulfate? i have a massive bag of the latter that i use occasionally
>>22103582I used to have problems with leg cramping at night and I just took Potassium/Magnesium supplements and it went away.
>>22103704>Everyone drinks too much water these daysHow do you figure? In America I'm pretty sure it's the opposite. Obesity has never been higher.
>>22103708Glycinate means it's bound to glycine which enhances absorption. Magnesium sulfate isn't absorbed very well so it's mainly used for constipation. Magnesium oxide is also poorly absorbed. If you want magnesium to actually be absorbed as an electrolyte then get magnesium glycinate/citrate/malate/chloride.
I also have this problem. Would eating lots of bananas work?
if you think you have a deficiency stop guessing andGET A FUCKING BLOOD TESTless than 100 dollars, walk in and give a vial or twoyou will get real numbers that you can act on rather than fucking around with retarded guessingyou don't need a doctors note or prescription
>>22103789>suspect iron deficiency>give a vial or two>die of blood lossgenius
>>22103672many male have iron deficiency because they refuse to get their hemorrhoids treated as they age.
>>22103805At my most anemic as a 13yr old girl they took 8 vials and it was fine. You'll be fine giving 2, I promise.
>>22103813put your trip on boobachanalso post 'em
>>22103813why did they need 8 vials? sounds like baloney
Stop being an internet schizo and get a blood test from a certified medical doctor
>>22103587>btw you need to eat raw beef liveryah, nah, thx
>>22103912>but i'm desperate at this point. >nooooooooo not like that
>>22103884Different tests need different vials
>>22103582are you drinking a lot of drinks with artificial sweetener?
>>22103833I'm too busy and cold desu>>22103884I got tested for a bunch of things at once, it sucked> BaloneyThat's not how you spell that
>>22103918It is gross though, pills are fine
>>22103950did they discover your super aids? my anemia reached a point where i needed a blood transfusion so 8 vials would probably kill me
>>22103582stand on a vibration plate for 10 minutes before bed
>>22103959Oh shiiiiiiddd, well I'm glad you got more blood instead of dryingYes though, thyroid superaids
>>22103582Eat beans, liver, whatever else is high on iron and immediately after eat an orange or two. The acidity helps the absorption of iron. I know this because I had the exact opposite problem.
>>22103812What?
>>22103582>give me some iron-rich food/meals to try, fast-food or not.red meatraisins
>>22103812You leave my asshole out of this.
>>22103582Are you on any psychiatric medication? A lot of them can cause RLS. And you'll know if you have it. RLS is impossible to ignore and will drive you crazy.
>>22103582Turmeric supplements work for me.
>>22103596thats only for non heme iron
>>22104340animal products still contain some non-heme iron too
>Ctrl+F MagnesiumYou are in good hands OP, listen to Anons.I'll add my own autism. I LOVE distilled water, the pure taste. I also clean my water cooler about once a month, I really want my water to be pure and clean. But distilled is bereft of any minerals. I put some trace minerals in my water, have for about 6 months now just to make sure I'm getting what plants crave.Natural spring water is great too if you have a good source. I will not touch tap water, won't even give it to my cats.
>>22104446what's the point in remineralizing your water when you are probably getting those same ones in your diet?
>>22104453First: Alcoholism. Then once that got sorted, a lot of physical exercise (2+ hours a day) plus multi-day hikes. It's the same shit in Gatorade minus the sugar (or sweetener) and flavour.I'll drink a nice cool glass of distilled without the drops.
>>22104463oh ok. seems to me like most people waste their time with this since they don't drink diuretics like alcohol or sweat from physical activity
>>22103582Liver, unironically.
>>22103582It's a neurological problem. Diet isn't really going to help with that. An ex-girlfriend of mine, who had perfect huge double-D bazongas, used to have to get up in the middle of the night and walk around to ease her RLS discomfort.Strangely, after learning about it from her and eating out her sweet beautiful pussy a bunch of times, I found out I had it too. Fortunately, for me it's very minor and intermittent and can go for months between sudden bursts of problems with it. Usually it happens when I'm tired and need to go to bed anyway. Only a couple of times has it kept me awake for any long periods.
>>22103582Dude I've had this for as long as i could remember. I started eating 10 eggs a day and it's gone now. I also started magnesium, omega 3 and multivitamin
>>22106293Nutritional deficiencies frequently cause neurological problems and RLS is a symptom of iron deficiency for some people.
unironically, if you are in this thread and are fucking around with>should I take this? should i eat this?>maybe this is the cause of my problemsDO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO TAKEhttps://www.questhealth.com/product/depression-nutrient-deficiency-panel/13939M.htmlOR SIMILAR, ANY COMPANYquest is just the largest company with franchises in every us city, but fucking any place that does blood draws can do this shitnot knowing what's in your fucking blood and guessing with constant supplements and diet changes that make you feel like you are doing something doesn't actually fucking do anything aside from 90% of the time waste your fucking moneyblindfold throwing darts at your fucking health is stupid and you know it. TEST, MEASURE, TREAT
>>22106379Blood tests for deficiencies aren't always reliable. E.g. for magnesium, only 1% of the magnesium in your body is in your blood so you can have a deficiency that doesn't show up in a simple blood test.
