when you're breading something, can you put the breadcrumbs left in the tray back in the jar and reuse them for later or do you have to throw them out?
I usually just toss them in the organic waste bin, but I recently bought panko, and it would be a shame to throw away a few bucks worth of it for nothing.

use the chef john method where you put it on a plate and then sprinkle the panko on which produces less waste

might mold if it got wet enough. just keep it in a separate container so it doesn't contaminate your whole supply if it does go bad before you can use it again

of course I would think of reusing it only if it's completely dry.
putting it back with the unused batch is probably a bad idea because of contamination.
the safe way to store the leftover panko would be in the freezer, but it will likely lose its crispiness. But it could be reused to make meatballs or stuff like that, I guess.

You could keep it in the freezer. I wouldn't trust it to have been potentially contaminated which is likely and then to be left at room temperature for an indefinite amount of time.

any bacteria on the things you are breading will thrive in the breadcrumbs.
throw them away.

I personally just fry the leftover crumbs in a little puddle of oil, move them around a lot for 2-3 minutes then add the crispies to whatever im eating

yeah, also dont bother washing the bowl either, anything harmfult to you is visible to the naked eye
