It was great.
When are you going?
>>
>>22107359
You trying to fill a hole or something? Drip at home or from the gas station gets the job done.
>>
>>22107372
>gas
>>
>>22107376
You doing a European thing? Yes, gas, short for gasoline is the refined product that is used in most engines. Petroleum, or "petrol" is the unrefined product used to make gasoline, jet fuel, asphalt, etc.
>>
I had a nice big switch brew yesterday.

Dumb cunt.
Both petrol and gasoline are made from crude oil and petrol is a high BON than gasoline

i think you could use a cup of coffee
>>
>>22107359
is this a decent scale? it's a timemore black mirror basic 2. just wondering what i need to upgrade next..
i have a hand grinder, a gooseneck kettle (no +/-1 adjustments tho, only increments like 200, 205, 212), a small scale for weighing beans, and a chemex. i think the only thing missing is one of these scales, right?
>>
>>22107690
At this point I'd just drop $100 on a bookoo ultra and be satisfied you've got an "endgame" piece of gear with nothing to upgrade to.

Nigga, that's 3-4lbs of coffee.
I'm not dpending 3-4lbs of coffee on a coffee scale.

it looks like this one uses bluetooth and has an app for your phone, and sometimes needs firmware updates. i really dont want something like that. I'd prefer something that is as analogue as possible. i dont ever want to connect a piece of coffee equipment to the internet for any reason.
>>
>>22107801
It functions entirely bluetooth and app free if you'd like it to. Having your phone act as an external display is incredibly useful for non coffee kitchen shit. I toss a big Cambro container on my Lunar for weighing out flour and it blocks the readout. Being able to log shit to beanconquerer is very nice when you're freezing a bunch of tubes or bags.

someone who makes coffee every single day will quickly learn to eyeball amounts and extraction times, i'm convinced scales are for retards who can't trust themselves to follow a recipe unless the exact amounts of ingredients are listed down to the gram, it's all food and cooking and coffee spergs treat it like it's a strict chemical reaction.
>>
>>22107850
>amounts and extraction times
the better scales do more than that, though. they automatically calculate flow rate of your pours and the brew ratio of coffee to water in real time. maybe not necessary but certainly not something you can just eyeball

ive just done that, i hope its good
>>
>>22107792
is she holding it that way because the cup is for me and shes presenting it so when i go to take it from her i can take it by the handle?
thats very thoughtful.

that's the proper way to hold a cup with a handle. you are supposed to grasp the cup and let your fingers go under the loop; you're not supposed to grip the handle with your whole hand.
she is very learned in proper etiquette and manners, you see.

totally solid, a great choice at a great price point

cool. the basic 3 has a bigger silicone pad and the added coffee:water ratio thing which i dont think the 2 has. and its only $7 more so i might go for that one
>>
>>22108189
sure why not
id rather just do the math myself but thats just me

hmm, i guess i thought the scale did something that i couldnt do in my head but i guess maybe it doesnt. i do premeasure the water and beans so i guess i might not even need that.

you either drank too much coffee or not enough coffee, or you drank your coffee too late, or too early..

why would anyone choose to use such a device and why are the japs so fond of it? wouldnt it have all the same problems of a stovetop percolater?

Coffee time!
>>
>>22108000
I only have one cup at a time (mokapot) so I always finish it.
>>
>>22108330
it looks cool and is fun to use and makes a unique cup of coffee
theyre popular in japan because prior to the invention of the v60 syphons were pretty much the only way coffee was made at hip cafes
and no, the brewed coffee is never recirculated through the bed so it does not have the issues of a stovetop percolator

Puts out a fuckload of aromatics. Best smelling brewer. Its a spectacle like jap ice drip towers.
>>
For me, it's a french press full of freshly ground beans poured over a generous pile of instant milk powder, butter and brown sugar.
>>
>>22108340
sounds pretty fuckin tasty
>>
>>22108340
does the milk powder dissolve good? i remember having a hot chocolate mix that used milk powder and there would be little chunks that didn't dissolve
>>
>>22108330
rule of cool
>>
>>22108350
It dissolves fine, but if you use too much the coffee will develop a film. The one I use has lecithin in it which helps the powder dissolve and also emulsifies the butter.
>>
>>22108370
seems unnecessary. why not replace the powder and butter with heavy cream?
>>
>>22108373
I'm just not in the habit of stocking cream. Convenience over luxury.

>>
>>22108374
nonsense. tell me the truth. are you too fat to go to the store? too poor to afford cream?

I live on an island, so the less liquids I have to carry over on the ferry, the better. Powdered milk is king and butter is just a staple I'd buy regardless.

>>
>>22108483
is coffee grown on your island?
>>
>>22108487
no
>>
>>22108537
just curious
do you like it?

to keep things relevant: i purchased Hank Green's coffee, it's a washed Colombian and it is just fine, it's exactly what you would expect from a washed Colombian
