Right is so lifeless and boring. Left was iconic and looked badass. Every single thing became soulless in the late 2000s even the fucking Gatorade logo.
>>22109669why are the /gd/ fags posting on /ck/ again?
consumers gravitated to minimalist labels at a time when they were rare so every company redesigned their labels to get an extra .01% revenue
>>22109669Why?To mock us.
>>22109669Modern logos need to be simpler and more immediately identifiable because people see so many logos every day that they start tuning them out. Extra details end up becoming a liability.
>>22109669I was just thinking to myself I can’t remember the last time I had a Gatorade it’s almost a miracle they’re still around at all
>>22110077...Just because you haven't had one?
Any oldfags remember Gatorade Gum? Man, that was some good stuff.
The classic Gatorade logomark appears on the bottom, near the barcode, of most multi-pack offerings, in smallish print. Why? I assume it has to do with maintaining the trademark, similar to how Coke puts an image of the bottle silhouette and Dynamic Ribbon in a similar place on all it's packaging.
>>22109669Didn't this happen when they did their stupid G1-G2-G3 shit? I guess the pre workout is still made but the g3 isn't. Who the fuck cares about Gatorade pre workout? Fuck the exec who came up with that stupid shit.
>>22110181Remember when it came in glass bottles?
the most potent gum ever
>>22110580Pepperidge Farm remembers.
>muh soulless logogrow the fuck up cunt
>>22111290Hahaha I remember that episode of family guy. Good lord, has it really been twenty years?
This was the best one
Anyone remember the tiger woods Gatorade flavor? It was in like 09 was delicious
>>22109669let me guess: new female head of marketing?
>>22111337Those were actual commercials when I was a kid in the 80s.
>>22110068Even without being inundated with logos, it's just good practice to have your logo more easily identifiable faster. The original wasn't a bad logo though because it functioned as a recognizable symbol with a well-defined silhouette. In that respect I think the older logo was better because it was more immediately identifiable than the big generic black G with a tiny orange lightning bolt in the middle. Older one had better asymmetry and use of color.
>>22111373It lives on in the form of power water watermelon flavor
>>22111607Yep. I 'member.
>>22109669George Soros
Their target demographic (young African Americans) are illiterate in record numbers, so the logo needs to be simple with no reading required
>>22109669Left looks like it would belong in some industrial cleaner bottle or some automotive grade products. You know, something toxic. Kids could mistook the bottle for Gatorade. Tesco? At one time made their homebrand bottles of Bleach indistinguishable from a milk/yogurt bottle lol. Also when I was a kid I often seen my dad gargling his mouthwash, and I keep seeing the same ads on TV of people doing the same. So ine time when I was in kindergarten age, I woke up in the morning and tried mimicking my dad / the TV. Gargled the mouthwash. It was unbearablly painful and I looked in the mirror to see my tongue, and it looked like the fucking canyons with valleys and gorges etc. My mom was both furious and concerned and made a bigg fuss of it, mad + crying calling up wll the neighbours and calling up my dad at work. Turns out I gargled fucking Dettol. Antiseptic solution lol. It was the same color and same fucking bottle design, similar logo in the mid-90s. Don't Gatorade / Monster energy drinks also look like toxic soudge, green yellow color? Kids are stupid man. There was a kid that died coz they were watching Naruto and one kid buried his head in the sandpit coz he thought he was Gaara.
>>22112304>some automotive grade productsYou want your car to go fast and people who drink gatorade want their bodies to go fast and need hydration. You make fast logos for products that make things fast.
>>22109669most likely the first logo had a designer who got shares from the use of it, that's why it has copyright as an art piece along with the fonts used, but now that the deal is done they switched to a trademark logo that they can keep using without paying anyone, I mean, look at the font, what the fuck is that, times new roman?
>>22111313I still hate minimalist Logos now what?
>>22111651I think it's that the word Gatorade was more prominent on the old label which takes more time to read than just seeing a G and a lightning bolt. It also might have something to do with smartphones and needing small but easily identified logos on them too.
>>22112390>installing the gatorade app so you can scan qr codes on the bottles and collector gatorewards
>>22112469for 10 million bottles you get a real full size living gator
>>22112390The smartphone thing is a good point, since everyone these days wants a logo that's circular and looks good in 20x20 pixels with transparency behind it and the new one is definitely better in that regard
The new logo is a good example of ugly flat design. The big flat black G is there looming over everything yet signifying nothing. The lightning bolt is haphazardly placed askew on the G. And it has to have GATORADE in small text above the G so everyone knows what the product is. It's an ugly and lazy design.
remember when Tropicana did the same thing and it backfired so hard they changed it back almost immediately
>>22112493The G stands for G – gravity. The lightning represents the gravity of lightning. It means Gatorade brings you down very fast.
>>22112498>Back in 2009, Tropicana spent $35M on a full rebrand, ditching their iconic packaging for a sleeker (read: blander) design. Within two months, sales plummeted 20%, losing them $30M almost overnight.Holy shit lmaoooo
>>22113124this shit looks like it came from the pharmacy department, no wonder it tanked. they could have been less retarded than this
Alpia has to print "back in the classic form" on the wrapper for like three years to recover from this
>>22114250Reminds me of that downright stoner babble nonsense about the new Pepsi logo, with the Pepsi Galaxy and whatnot.Page after page retarded nonsense they pulled out of their asses to make it seem like a simple logo was worth the price tag.
>>22114329If I were the head of a company and some ad exec pitched me this, I would fire him on the spot
I remember gatorade and cereal kind of being "luxury items." Like not something you'd always have stocked but it was a treat to have at the house. Now it's funny seeing gatorade and cereal being dirt cheap at the store.
>>22114370>cereal kind of being "luxury items."are you a WW1 veteran
>>22114370>>22114530Not him, but back in the day it was kind of a class divide thing whether you had name brand cereal, or had to buy store brand cereal that came in a plastic bag.Nowadays the actual class divide is people who eat cereal for breakfast and people who eat eggs for breakfast.
>>22114250what did they mean by this? does chocolate with more corners taste better?
>ywn have Gatorade in glass bottles again
>>22114883Everything written in that image is retard drivel
>>22114329I read once that the whole thing was cooked up way after the logo was in use and that it was some satire piece, like Rockwell doing the "Retro Encabulator" video.
>>22115880No it isn't their using science to figure this out 100,000s of dollars worth of studies and fact finding verified and checked by scientists prove this. Companies are greedy and they wouldn't pay people for this if it didn't work if science says so then the flavour peaks.
>>22115949this piece has more corners
>>22112390>It also might have something to do with smartphones and needing small but easily identified logos on them too. This is false and I hate seeing it being repeated, we used to have detailed logos on much smaller screens and it wasn't an issue back then.
