wamela tredIt's summer. How do you enjoy your wamelas. Any recipes specifically using them, or do you just bust em open with a rock and devour the insides like a filthy animal?
I'll typically just cube it up and munch it down.
I devour everything like a filthy animal.
>>22109834I eat the slicies
>>22109834it's wawamelm, not wamela.stupid fucking foreigner.
>>22109834if you arent dousing each bite in fresh squeezed lemon juice you are a failure
>>22109953Cubes are shit. Slices are where it's at.
>>22109834I do a ring slice and then cube. Watermelon feta salad is the only recipe I’ve made with it
>>22109834seeded watermelon has the most intense flavor because of the flesh that develops around the seeds. however they go bad quickly. unfortunately all the watermelons ive had this summer sucked
>>22109834I wash the melon, peel the rind off with a veggie peeler (the one that looks like a safety razor), then cube it all up. I cut off the pithy part and make wawamelm kimchi out of it, and eat the cubed fruit as normal. Any excess gets bagged and fridged
cut off top and bottomthen quarterthen cut thick slicesthen cut rind offthen cut slices horizontally for melon sticksI pickled the rind once, it's mediocre.
>>22111008>Watermelon feta saladInteresting. I'll have to keep this one in mind for next summer, although the recipe I read calls for avocado too, and that might be outside of our budget.>pickled wamelaAlso neat to think about. Better than just throwing it in the garden for compost.Found a recipe for wamela sorbet, too. Looks easy enough. Anyone ever done it?
>>22109834Just thin slices for me. Sometimes juice.
>>22112723watermelon feta salads are pretty goodput some spinach and thinly sliced red onion on thereif you cant afford avocado atm, you can go to the bank and take out a watermeloan
>>22112760Watermelon ice water with a few cucumbers is super refreshing
