Red Delicious really only has been selected and cultivated for look and it shows.
Great for displaying, don't bite into it.

i really liked cosmic crisp on “launch” but some of bags i’ve got more recently about half had bad spots spanning 1/3 of the apple. just doesn’t feel worth it but i think it’s due to their total shelf life they sit longer with the blemish so it develops a lot deeper than other apples. thanks for reading

My parents refuse to eat other apples they only buy and eat honeycrisp apples.

Apples suck. Give me (in order of better to worse) dates, strawberries, bananas, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, etc etc etc over apples. Not pears though, pears are just apples but worse.

the cosmic crisp was developed over more than 20 years at WSU, a cross between the honeycrisp and enterprise apples. the upcoming sunflare apple began development around the same time and should be available in about 3 years, and is poised to be even more popular than the cosmic when it reaches consumers. it's a cross between the honeycrisp and pink lady and is harvested earlier than the cosmic. it's a strikingly beautiful apple that will stand out on shelves.

Escape you're groupthink bubble and try a red delicious when it's in season. A good one has no graininess, a delicate floral flavor, low tartness, a light sweetness, and a satisfying thick skin. Might be too subtle for modern palates, but it's a very good apple.

If it's grainy/mealy at all, it's out of season or has been sitting on the shelf far too long. It's not that hard to pick a good apple, retard.

This snarky reddit quippy shit doesn't fly irl when I put my fist in your face.
Eat a good red delicious or don't.
Not my concern.
But don't call all red delicious bad because the only ones you've ever tried were picked in December and sat in a school cafeteria pantry for two months.

This is weirdly accurate (for the ones I've stocked). Funnily enough the Kanzis are usually in the packaged towards kids bagged selections, previously Blues Clues at my store. Now we have minions themed pink ladies. Where is Sugarbees, I have some customers that swear by those. Honeycrisp is definitely the number one seller though, second is probably cosmic crisp. Galas do well in the three pound bag, just behind granny.
T. Works in produce, I just stock them and talk to customers about them, I personally do not like apples (Asian pears are good though).
>>
>>22110160
I buy cosmic crisps because they taste good and also have insanely high fiber.
Makes it easier to get close to enough fiber intake.

That is a beautifully framed photo. I’ve always found it interesting, the way they grow the individual fruiting branches as units of trees for space efficiency. I wonder if they’re completely proprietary or if you could get a tree?

>Not pears though, pears are just apples but worse.
Pears are way better than apples.
Problem is, "real" pears go from slightly unripe (best time to pick them), to ripe, to rotten mush, in precisely 3 days after picking. So 90% of widely available pear varieties were bred to be picked unripe and stay so as long as possible (and then turn directly to mush, without going through the ripe phase: hard as a rock on the outside, but the core is brown and sludgy).
A proper ripe juicy pear is one of the best fruits ever.

Fuji buy only from California.

That’s new. Or very old, rather. Appropriately, says it comes from Cornwall and Devon. Says it’s the healthiest apple. I wonder if there are variances in the substrate or ph?

MY doctor told me the apple is GREAT for diabetes prevention AND it's nature's toothbrush AND it was Hitler's favorite fruit.

YOUR doctor is most likely a Mossad agent trying to make your teeth fall out so he can fuck your mouth without obstruction.

Cosmic crisps when you get a good batch are fantastic, but sadly it's a roulette between that or getting an inedible batch that's completely devoid of any taste or one that punches you in the face with this awfully bitter, almost chemical aftertaste. It's one of the only apples I can think of with such godawful quality consistency, so it's in "red delicious" tier for me. It's either fuji, braeburn or sweetango for me.
