My family and I once drove through the middle of Alberta, or whatever that Canadian state was. There was a valley. And as far as the eye could see, there were brown, dried out, former husks of trees. Just standing there as timber waiting for the soonest wildfire. This was like 10 years ago.

Wildfires are entertaining to see online and in the news until your city is completely enveloped in smoke like many cities right now. And that smoke is dangerous and has tons of particles in it.
