apparently asparagus became a popular side for steaks because it was a Swedish king's favorite dish
>>
ok

You’re an interesting guy.
>>
>>22113164
When I was in Sweden, I had a dish with smoked salmon, asparagus and some sauce. Was absolutely fuckin delicious.
>>
>>22113164
Was it the King that ate himself to death?
>>
>>22113267
He ate so much asparagus, when he took a pee his wife smelled it and died
>>
So Sweden HAS contributed to world cuisine, after all. You lied to me, /ck/. Maybe this thread can explore what else Nordic countries contributed.
Rule 1.) herring doesn't count, because they also eat that in Holland, Britain, Germany, Poland, and the Baltics.
>>
>asparagus
I bought this and this make me pee hard and smell bad. What kind of hell veggie is this?
>>
>>22113301
it's heaven in your mouth and absolutely the best side for steak, along with wild rice
>>
>>22113301
It is bestowing you with pee superpowers

Copy+paste from hot dog thread
>deep fried onions on hot dogs
Pretty sure this first became popular in Denmark. And it is soooo fucking good
>>
>>22113301
Asparagus is what green beans wish they were
>>
>>22113280
Isn't pickled herring very Nordic though? And gravlax
>>
>>22113410
preserved fish in general
not necessarily the origin (except for gravlaks), but yea very nordic
>>
What else. Personally, I'm a huge fan of roe paste. Even though apparently Scandinavians consider it children's food? I can't not love it just because of that.
>>
>>22113301
I think broccoli is worse in terms of affecting your pp/excretion taste.
>>
>>22113433
It's certainly not children's food but was more popular with the couple of previous generations.
>>
>>22113439
Please don't let it die out. It's one of my favorite things, ever.

it goes real well with boiled eggs or a mild cheese
haven't heard that one before, though i know a fellow scandie who thinks that liver paste is a childish thing to put on bread
i'm guessing she got that impression because picrel is one of the more popular brands
>>
>>22113448
She a tard. It's just emulsified liver paté.

They just need more rustic liver sausages.
>>

I thought it was because the rich enjoy tinkling on each other at night

a bit - her favourite type of animal is dinosaur
>>22113938
mmmmmaybe
dont think i've seen leberwurst in stores though, so that could be a problem
i'm guessing she hasn't tried it with pickles
>>
>>22113433
Roe paste and liverpate are fucking delicious and adults eat it at least where I live. But they're more "old" cuisine so maybe some people think it's icky.
