Guys, I went to preheat the oven. Opened it up to take a pan out, and found that there was already a half eaten cake inside.(A plain cake with no icing on it) I forgot I left it in there, It's been about 3 days. I'm thinking of eating it. Should I? Y/N
>>22113412It's fine. Sugar in cake acts as a bit of a preservative. Unless there's visible mold or it smells like alcohol then it's fine.
>>22113412It would be fine to eat. What if you left a loaf of bread on the counter for 3 days? In the oven in probably safer.
>>22113416That's reassuring, because I'm already eating it. Checked for visible mold, and didn't see any. Smells fine. It's a little toasty now, since I let it warm in the oven while it was preheating.>>22113417>What if you left a loaf of bread on the counter for 3 days?I don't know. I've never tried that. When I bake bread, I wait for it to fully cool, and then stick it into a plastic container. Sealed. I always eat the full loaf within 1-3 days. While the oven is mostly covered, it's designed with openings to allow airflow.
>>22113412you'll be fine as long as it doesnt make you sick
>>22113419>It's a little toasty nowImo that’s the best way to eat an older unfrosted cake, toast and add a little butter
>>22113412As long as the recipe didn't include lettuce, you should be fine.
