"Yankee Stadium. September. Hot dogs have been boiling since the opening day in April." --Heywood Floyd, "2010: The Year We Make Contact"I've never understood this, though. Doesn't boiling just turn everything soft and mushy, and transfer nutrients to the water? Why would you boil hot dogs instead of frying, grilling, barbecuing... anything but boiling.
>eating a hot dog for the nutrientskek
>>22118128are we seriously going to have to go over this again?? >:|Simmer, sear, serve. It's the only proper way.
Hotdogs can be eaten cold from the can, theyre already cooked at the factoryYou're not cooking them, they're in a casing and you're just warming them up, you can grill them for added flavour but at the end of the day they're pre seasoned and smoked at the factory anyway
>>22118132that's too complicated.
>>22118162Pretty sure they strip the casing off in the factory though once they're done cooking them.
>>22118168They definitely have a "skin" from the steaming at least, you can see a colour difference on the inside near and the outer layer
>>22118128Hot dogs taste best when boiled and don’t wind up with that crunchy / chewy texture you get from the grill - that’s a good thing
>>22118128>hotdog>nutrients Silly child.
>>22118128>get you're hot dog water, hot dog water>Chock full-a nutrientz>$1/cupIt's too easy to make money off of goys
>>22118128My family calls them rot dogs and we either grill them, sear them, boil them, or bake them.
>>22118128There's a time and place for any method of cooking. Do I prefer a nice grilled dog? Sure at a barbeque. However, at say a ballgame a boiled hot dog all wrapped up in foil so it steams the bun for a good soft bite is fine too.
>>22118215Your joking right
>>22118233No? I'm not going to a ballgame to eat gourmet food. I'm there to see Cubans throw 105mph fast balls and big fat white dudes smack them 400 feet. I can enjoy whatever hot dog gets me back to my seat faster.
>>22118128The point is to keep them hot. They're already cooked at the factory so it isn't about cooking them, its about heating them up. Every other heating method you mentioned will either dry them out or burn them. Boiling them in water will keep them hot and ready to go all day long. Also, as far as boiling stuff out of them, processed meats like hot dogs have some unhealthy stuff in them like nitrites and whatever else. I don't know if that gets leached out by boiling, but if it does then it actually makes them healthier because that stuff is toxic and you don't want to be eating that anyway really.
>>22118128>Why boil hot dogs?to absorb the broth.
>>22118129this>>22118128they become juicy, it's casual eat on the cheap anyway>>22118132there is no proper way for cheap meat, it is what it is, you usually avoid it, you don't polish a turd
>>22118200> rot dogs, rot dogs, rot dogs, rot dogs dudeYet they still don't buy a decent cut of meat.
>he doesn't drink delicious hot dog water
nanna always told me to boil my penis before hanging out with my boyfriend
>>22118129FPBPFuck the Yankees.
>>22118352>they become juicyyou mean watery? even if you were right who the fuck wants bodily fluids oozing out of their their hot dog. that’s deranged
>>22118520Do you like juicy or cardboard dry steak? There you go, now stop making such a fuss about the lowest meat you can buy.
>>22118544I do like juicy steak but it’s the exception
I don't understand boiling hot dogs and sausages in beer. What could that possibly add?
>>22118554i've tried "beer brats", i've tried beer brats in beer, i've tried beer can chickenit doesn't add anything
>>22118162>the canBong detected
>>22118128I boil mine sealed in the packaging perfect dogs every time
>>22118162>You're not cooking themso it only counts as cooking if you starting raw?
I actually prefer my dogs boiled. My family doesn't know how to grill for the life of them so I've only ever had burnt dogs for most of my life.
>>22118128I put them in the air fryer for 7 minutes.
>>22118599burnt glizzers are the best. a little char might put some hair on your chest boy
>Doesn't boiling just turn everything soft and mushy, and transfer nutrients to the water? That only happens when you cook them for too long or cut them open
>>22118620There's a difference between a little char and the entite thing plus most of the core being soot.
>>22118629yeah okay that’s a bit much, sounds like your folks are cremating them lol
>>22118128>Why boil hot dogsSodium Nitrate. More moisture to do cosmetic sear on the grill. Keeps them hot on a cold New England day in the dog cart.
>>22118599Charred dawgz are good tho
>>22118574grilled in the package works great too
If you turn your nose up to hotdogs you are unironically a midwit. It's the people's food and a cornerstone of the most based sport in the world, baseball. You don't understand the beauty of a dog.
>>22118128Better taste than microwaving and no smoke.
>>22118128>nutrients>In a hot dog You probably look like a hot dog
>>22120806You wish I did queerboy.
>>22118128>transfer nutrients to the water?Just drink the hot dog water then if you're so concerned about not getting all the nutrients from the hot dog
>>22118128>nutrients in a hotdog Oxymoron >>22118129Fpbp
>>22118128Steamed is the proper method. Doesn't dry them out like frying/grilling/baking, but doesn't leech the flavor and nutrients out like boiling.Take the steam pill.
It's a fucking hot dog.
Nothing wrong with boiling them or microwaving them. We are talking about some processed and precooked garbage “sausage” here.
>>22120857>we
>>22120851Steam evaporates all the essential nutrients in a hot dog though
>>22120761>I eat these scraps of shitty meat, eyeballs etc. because of a "sport" designed only for the dumbest goys Good for you
>>22120761At least they're midwits, you're a dimwit.
SimmerSearServe
>>22120719I love carcinogenic coal as well. I just eat ash on the go. It tastes so good. Right, fellow retards?
Simmer
>>22120975Sear
>>22120976Serve
The searing part looks disgusting and unnecessary
>>22121018every hot dog should be kissed by the griddle anon
>>22121019i like mine chopped up and boiled in with the instant noodles, i've tried skilleting them beforehand and nothing changed
>>22118128Don't forget to use protection!
>>22118168casingless hot dogs are for barbarians and babies.
>>22118200Boiled, then butterfly the dogs and insert already cooked bacon and cheese my fav. Yum. Can toast buns at the same time. I use Lo Broil tho, made too many mistakes with Hi.
>>22121036Thanks for my first laugh of the day bro, I needed it.
>>22121037they're expensive, man. at least for how many hot dogs i ate in a day back then. now i can justify it
>>22121049Like this, except I don't wrap the bacon around it, i just stuff it to one side then cheese on the other, often overlapping the already cooked bacon.
Quebec has Hot Dogs perfected and I cherished the couple years I lived there. The made the outside of the buns toasted and often had chou or coleslaw in the dogs. I could go to a nice diner and get 2-3 toasties, some ballin' ass french fries and a pop for like $5 in 2010. French fries almost always made in house. Malt vinegar and seasoning salt/pepper available. And of course, they had poutine, which everywhere does now but they were the original with the squeaky curds that melt so perfect under the hot gravy. And I wasn't in Montreal, I was in real QC, where everybody spoke French. I learned before I went but was obviously not perfect. They always helped me out, because I would at least try to speak my Franglais.
>>22118352so you eat your turds raw?
>>22120899>evaporates all the essential nutrientsare you a brain rotted zoomer or a dumbass boomer?
>>22118576When you re heat leftovers are you cooking?
>>22118128boiling hot dogs does not make them softer, and all it does is cook out the fat.
Red "kosher" or "nathan's" hot dogs, the ones with the red casing. Fried or raw chopped onions, ketchup, mustard. Sometimes I'll smash an avocado into the bottom of the bun. Put that fucking hot dog in the air fryer. Get it crispy, get it charred. Now enjoy the cronch. God, I must have so many polyps in my colon.
>>22118132>Bundle up unwanted cuts of organs and low quality leaf scraps, add a quarter days worth of salt to make it edible, and shove it into some intestines or cheap casing>You now need to cook it in this specific multi-step process.Ironic huh
Boiling is believed to be the most cost effective way to cook/heat them. For me it was either pan fry or grill. If you're microwaving, cut them down the middle to make them less explosive. >>22118162>theyre already cooked at the factoryTrue, people used to eat them cold out of the pack before the listeria crisis of the early 90's and subsequent ones after. The last listeria crisis proved that even reputable companies like Boar's Head don't even check their cures meats.
>>22122967are you doing speech to text like a filthy phoneposter?
>>22123086Can you not read like a foreigner
>>22123086I use speech to text because I am disabled sorry
>>22118128Natural casing hot dogs are best boiled because it will tighten up the casing without it cracking. You get the best snap on a natural casing weiner from boiling the dog
>>22123155Retard
>>22123372>Natural casingbut who wants to eat poopchutes
For me the best hot dogs are grilled or pan grilled or deep fried in oil ripper style. Boiled dogs lack the brown Mallard flavors I crave.
>>22123440>Mallard flavors
>>22123440√ Simmer√ Sear√ Serve>>22123451>Mallard reaction
>>22123433Me. Ambassador skin on weiners are the best brand you can find widely distributed in the states
>>22123648I admire your moxie but I just don't like the thought of eating offal, innards, and entrails :[
>>22123429Okay
>>22118128No idea, you're never supposed to boil them. You throw them on the grill.
>>22123648>Ambassador skin on weiners
>>22118128Probably because it doesn't take long and doesn't create any washing up.Also>nutrientslol
>>22120761Why are Americans like this?
>>22123649That's what goes into a hot dog tho
>>22124047Like what? Baseball is unironically the best sport
steaming the clear winner in the hotdog wars, i've eaten hotdogs in every single way you can and that's the truthketchup sucks dogshit on a hotdog toot. hotdog ambassador
>>22124261Honestly it depends on the kind of 'og. Meal type, casing type, they really cook different. I do love a steamed 'og though.
>>22118196Well it does have protein and salt which are nutritious. But yeah hot dogs are nowhere near healthy kek
>>22120761Fuck hot dogs. Theyre shit. Kielbasa, bratwurst, Italian sausages are all better than shit tier hot dogs. Baseball is boring too. Watch something thats actually exciting like hockey or boxing.
I dice hotdogs with some onion, pickles, cheese, mustard and ketchup then fill out the bun with the hotdog stuffing and just chuck them in the oven or airfryer. Best shit ever every single time.
>>22118576>so it only counts as cooking if you starting raw?Yes, otherwise you are just reheating cooked food.
>>22124278Shut up
I microwave hot dogs. I am lazy. I want to eat now.
>>22120899the nutrients hit the top of the steamer and the precipitate back into the hot-dog, thus doubling up the flavor. Do you even cook?
>>22121062quebec has fast-food culture perfectedI'm imagining an American accent on Quebec French, pretty funny. They have the best swearing system.
those hot dog rollers get the dogs perfect everytime. gas station hot dogs and nachoes are a real treat as long as your store actually cares to clean the place.
>>22125045Think of it more like an accent from FARGO trying to speak French and that would be more accurate, lol.
>>22125172kek, even funnierI wish I had stayed to live in Quebec, I loved hearing the accent everywhere and the people were fun, QC is riddled with French immigrants though.
The heat of the hot dog cooks the water. Simple science here guys.
>>22125179Simple retard right here guys.
>>22118128It makes them feel better about eating hotdogs.
>>22118132Nigga it's a hotdog.
How many hot dogs do you eat on average a day, really?
>>22122980>the most cost effective way to warm a hotdogEvery single day I'm reminded that this board is mostly Indians living in poverty. Jesus Christ.
>>22125319They are Europoors actually.
>>22125324>Europoor>IndianThere's no difference.
>>22121019Nice Snackpack you got there!
>>22121062Looks good anon.Do they butter that toast?
>>22120851>>22125039I enjoy a grilled dog, but steam is the true GOAT way to cook a dog. This joint on the way to the beaches of Southern Maine is always packed during vacation season.
>>22120761Oh I understand the beauty of a dog alright.
>>22125353as with people from US or Mexico, and Santa Claus and every nigger that ever lived
>>22125897damn thats a very lanky mario
>>22125880not going to say those arent great dogs but the hot dog king grills them and thats all we need to settle the debate
>>22118128It keeps them warm and moist. >Doesn't boiling just turn everything soft and mushy, Kinda the point. You don't make Hot Dogs with premium cuts.>and transfer nutrients to the water?...Nutrients? In a Hot Dog?
>>22125870Yeah, pretty sure.
>>22125253>>22125934Before and after
>>22125045Foie gras poutine at au pied de cochon, give it to me. Pic somewhat related, I was at his place in Mirabel last week. Tremendous.
>>22118128>Doesn't boiling just turn everything soft and mushy,That doesn't apply to hot dogs. They become fatter, springier, and better tasting. > transfer nutrients to the waterMostly salt and fat from the outermost layers. Hot dogs are a not like meat with whole cells and biological structure. It's pulverized meat matter reformed and suspended in a solid media.
>>22118128I think boiled hot dogs taste nasty
>>22118128Icelandic hot dogs (lamb+pork+beef Vienna sausages) are best boiled in pilsner. Peak 'dogging
>>22125897What a terrible thing to know
