Why does everyone love italian food so much?
you can cram carbs and pretend its fancy
Partly due to reputation.
Italian cuisine is the only good food all of America sees and thanks to their cultural hegemony it's become a global fact.
What most people like is Italian American food, it's a totally different cuisineSame goes for when people say they like Mexican but really it's tex-mex they likeOr japanese food but really they just like teriyaki sauce
>>22121110I think it boils down to simplicity.Italian cuisine uses relatively few ingredients, doesnt require much time or effort, it's hard to fuck it up so even complete retards can make it and tastes really good.
>>22121178Personally I hate americanized Italian food but I'm European so I guess it just a matter of preference.
>>22121176Das ritePizza, calzone, buffalo moozarell', olive oil. These faggots had nothin'. They ate pootsie before we gave them the gift of our cuisine.
>>22121110Because Italy makes the best duwangs
>>22121178No one outside of the USA likes italian-american food
>>22121178The only Italian American dish that's popular outside of america is our version of pizza
>>22121178youre from the us, we get it
>>22121110because it's fucking delicious.
>>22121110>Italians were the first people to make use of tomatoes inside of their cookingI know this is bait but it still makes me mad.
>>22121110cheese and tomatoes taste goodpeople don't really get as excited for italian food that doesn't use those things
>>22121110>easily made pasta with jarred/canned sauce and ground meat>midnight pizzas>garlic bread, bruschetta>good wines, sausages, and cheese>actually make mushrooms, beans, and fish taste good>most of it is simple peasant fare without French pretentiousness and can be made by broke college kidsYeah, wonder why.
They really fucking lost their shit when tomatoes got brought back from the Americas, huh?
>>22121178I'm murican and I prefer genuinely italian pizza margarita to regular american pizza.(Though I also really love pineapple pizza.)
>>22121690Faggot, go back to college or something fucking faggotnerd
>>22125214no u
>>22121178>Same goes for when people say they like Mexican but really it's tex-mex they likeNo retarded White person thinks this, btw.>But Tex-!Like I said, no retarded White person thinks this.
>>22125255So the non-retarded whites think that?
>>22125255Tex-mex is just mexican food made in a clean kitchen where people wash their hands.
Spoiler: all the "good" italian food is foreign.
No country besides Italy loves Italian food. Everyone else loves "Italian" food.Fucking Japan puts ketchup on spaghetti and calls that a Naples dish.
>>22121110>Shitalians immigrate to USA>Americans start to love shitalian food because of shitalian americans and it seems exotic and interesting to puritan palates.>Later on the USA becomes world hegemon and exports its culture to the rest of the world>The rest of the world starts to consume Americanised Italian food like American pizza and American pasta. Same happens with Mexican food which is why people even in Europe and Asia eat tacos now (but not real Mexican tacos, shitty Americanised tacos). Has absolutely nothing to do with ingredients or how good the cuisine actually is, its all about marketing and soft power of the cultural hegemon.
>>22121110Because they are subhuman normoids that just do whatever others tell them to.
>>22125781Except me. I'm my own man. I think for myself.I am tall. I am smart. I am handsome.
>>22125762Americanized Italian and traditional Italian food are both delicious. If it was truly as bad as you pretend it was then it wouldn't have become popular. Same with Americanized and traditional mexican food. Lots of things are tasty and you don't have to be mad about them.
>>22125791>If it was truly as bad as you pretend it was then it wouldn't have become popularFirstly, I didnt pretend it was bad. If anything I was shitting on the original shitalian cuisine more than Americans.Secondly, yes it would have. The point is that there isn't really anything special about these cuisines but they are a cultural export from the world hegemon just like blue jeans and pop music. If another country became the most powerful nation in the world instead then the world would not eat Italian or Mexican food. Its entirely about geopolitics rather than anything about the cuisines themselves.>Lots of things are tasty and you don't have to be mad about them.Utterly vapid statement.
>>22125799>Firstly, I didnt pretend it was bad.You said that american tacos were just the same and that they were shitty, and described most everything in your post with made up words that incorporate the word shitty. You definitely are saying that it's bad.>secondly, yes it would haveIf that were true then processed cheese would be as popular everywhere as it is in korea. But it's not, is it? Your mindless prattling about how everyone should logically be a 1:1 clone of America falls apart when you realize... the world isn't a 1:1 clone of america culturally. There are influences sure, but that's more about reach and exposure. If the people of the world had taste as shitty as yours then no, these things wouldn't become popular.>vapidIt's true, you're just a bitter fag.
>>22125806>You said that american tacos were just the same and that they were shittyYeah and you said "Americanized Italian and traditional Italian food are both delicious". Tacos are not Americanised Italian food retard. I didn't say anything bad about Americanised Italian food. Learn some reading comprehension man.>and described most everything in your post with made up words that incorporate the word shittyThe only word that incorporated shitty was the portmanteau of SHIT and ITALIAN, retard. Is this the perceived slight against Americans? You fat fucks are too sensitive, it wasn't even insulting you.>If that were true then processed cheese would be as popular everywhere as it is in korea.Processed cheese IS popular everywhere retard, try leaving your country once in your life maybe. Go to any supermarket in Europe or Asia and you will find American cheese slices which they put on their American style burgers. But its beside the point - not everything becomes a cultural export so even if you were right, which you aren't, a single counterexample wouldn't disprove it because there are a lot of other factors.>Your mindless prattling about how everyone should logically be a 1:1 clone of America falls apart when you realizeNo retard I never said everything would logically be a 1:1 clone of America, you just made up that strawman in your own mindless prattling. You're taking the concept of cultural exports and misunderstanding it to an extreme because you're a moron.>It's true, you're just a bitter fag.Yeah it is true "tasty" food is "tasty", hence its an utterly vapid statement Einstein. I'm apparently a bitter fag because you made up a strawman of me not liking something I never said I didn't like, deranged womanly behaviour.
>>22125823>Processed cheese IS popular everywhere retardI didn't ask that, reread it please. You seem to have trouble grasping my point, so I'll make it simpler for you.Is processed cheese exactly as popular everywhere as it is in Korea? Or do things from America have varying degrees of popularity based on the tastes of the population exposed to them? Answer this obvious question and feel good, then move on to why I asked that:If American things have varying degrees of popularity(or none at all) based on the tastes of the population, then why are you saying that things are only popular because of cultural exposure when clearly that is not enough to make a cuisine popular beyond its home borders, to the extent of saying that ingredients or quality has absolutely nothing to do with it? An engine is necessary but not sufficient to make a car, if you can understand the analogy.
>>22125836>You seem to have trouble grasping my point, so I'll make it simpler for you.No I understood your point but the goalpost you are setting is not a refutation of my argument. Why should processed cheese be as popular everywhere as Korea? Its still a cultural export of the US even if its not as popular as a single country that loves it particularly. Uniform popularity was never the argument. >If American things have varying degrees of popularity(or none at all) based on the tastes of the population, then why are you saying that things are only popular because of cultural exposure when clearly that is not enough to make a cuisine popular beyond its home borders, to the extent of saying that ingredients or quality has absolutely nothing to do with it?For the same reason I would say that processed American cheese is not good cheese yet its still popular around the world? It has very little to do with quality or merit and is all about the marketing.
>>22125440>Tex-mex is just mexican food made in a clean kitchen where people wash their hands.Best description of it I ever heard
>>22121110So first off, Italy and France were the big Cultural/Agricultural powerhouses in Western Europe. If you heard of a new recipe in Europe then chances are it was French or Italian. Second, there was a BIG migration of Italians to America. Once they got here the found that a lot of ingredients that was fairly pricy in Italy was super cheap in America and the food-loving Italians went a little crazy. A lot of what we think of Italian like Pepperoni and Spaghetti with Meat Sauce are actually pure Americana and honestly I think they're improvements. Third, Pasta is super easy to work with. Buy it dried, keep it for months, boil for a few minutes before serving.
>>22125941Historically Italy was nowhere near France culturally or agriculturally.Especially before the Columbian exchange Italian food wasn't all that different from most other Mediterranean countries. Was basically seafood, beans, rice like Spain, Portugal etc.One of the main driving forces for the Italian emigrations was the total lack of agricultural land.
>>22121214You guys can't make pizza for shit
>>22125762>(but not real Mexican tacos, shitty Americanised tacos)Texmex mogs the shit out of Mexcrement "food."
>>22126385it doesn’t and even if it did tex-mex is still mexican/tejano cuisine, so you’re basically saying>mexican food is better than mexican food
>>22126385You better be joking, like, for real lolThe only thing texans are good at is treasoning their nations (btw: spain-france-england, mexico, the union and themselves all the same)
>>22126523>and even if it did tex-mex is still mexican/tejano cuisinewith some extra outside influences which is why it's not just called mexican food, and mexicans don't consider it mexican foodmexican food is good too tho
>>22121110They get hypnotized by the accordion music that plays whenever you eat it. I do think Italian food is overrated though. It's functional but nothing special.
I like traditional Italian cuisine because the recipes are generally very simple and they tend to use few and/or seasonal ingredients. i think any cooking style that operates that way will be enjoyable, but Italian is the one i picked up.it's really fun to browse the farmer's market and Italian grocer, pick up a few fresh ingredients and cook something nice with that.
A good red sauce is hard to make
