Me Din DinsGoing international again lads, for my first trip to Sicily and Palermo. And I must say what a place, hot and chaotic and occasionally smelly but so welcoming and historic and the food has been delicious so far.
Kept it simple last night, I had the Glassa which is almost like a potato and beef stew with pasta, my missus had the Sugo di Salsiccia Ragu which was gorgeous. We had aracine and panelle too, like a chickpea fritter.Very nice and very cheap, like €35 with two drinks each.
Went to a monastery with a bakery in their courtyard this morning for a giant Cannoli it was lovely
For lunch a delicious focaccia with truffle mortadella, pecorino, pesto and honey. It was very bosh with a beer
Is Italy one of those places where the people pretend they can’t speak English even though everyone can? I’d like to go but I can’t really be bothered to learn or speak linguini spaghetti luigi.>>22122786God I could demolish a cannoli.
>>22122785>aracine and panelleso jealous. I'm in NYC and I get those things but only at a few places and also they're expensive
Pizza tonight, the cheese particularly was really good DOP stuff
>>22122801>I’d like to go but I can’t really be bothered to learn or speak linguini spaghetti luigi.Just-a add a "a" atta da end-a some words-a and do a gifrel
>>22122801Nah I've generally found people in Italy very friendly, north and south. I only use basic phrases like "vorrei... per favore" and such and that's more than enough. One guy today asked me if I spoke Italian lel, I said just a little but he seemed pleased.
>>22122777Living the high-life eh?Looks like you are enjoying some good grub as always, I know where you live and I know there is not much in the way of industry there, what you you do that means you can afford to take so many trips abroad - just curious?
>>22123083Extremely Jelly. Excellent photos! Have a great trip!
>>22123274> what you you do that means you can afford to take so many trips abroad - just curious?I am just not poor like you, fren.
>>22123324Don’t get cute snaggletooth, going to Italy for you is like going to Alabama for us. I can fit 2 of your UK’s in my state

Kind of bottled it here. GF didn't want to go to a seafood restaurant at the seaside. Women eh. Nice pizza though. Gf had a lovely salad.>>22123863>>22123341Not me lads, rude of him to pretend. I'm working class myself, I can sit in the roughest pub and have a good chat, or at the other end I've somehow met several ambassadors and not felt too out of place. Such is life.>>22123274Not much really mate lol, just have a decent steady job and over the years I've built up a decent enough surplus. Hull is cheap as fuck as well as friendly and historic.

Gone in a place with Michelin recommendations several years running. Very reasonable prices still.>>22124340Just had a Sicilian Pilsner
>>22124472No show us all your pussy you little exhibitionist (; I’ll give you $20
We got some of the nicest Sfincione as a sample, and some free shots of what I think was a honey grappa before we even sat down
Starter was a taster board and it was really really nice, mopping up all the sauce with crusty bread. The panella was really good too.The aubergine and I think artichokes in tomato sauce were actually amazing. I think the meatballs were swordfish.
>>22124474BMI of your date tells me youre american
>>22124496Skin colour tells me she ain't, thougheverbeit
For my pasta course I had QUINTO QUARTO RAVIOLI FILLED WITH RAGUSANO DOP CACIOCAVALLO CHEESE SERVED WITH BUTTER, SPLEEN AND LUNGSorry I'm not shouting I just Google Lensd the menuThe missus had the beef and pork Ragu and it was nice.
Also this dog in a pram turned up
>>22124534Kek
>>22124534What did he order?
>>22123171have you not traveled much Anon? in most of the world even the smallest amount of effort to speak the local language and be curious about the culture will greatly endear you to the people. I've only experienced what you describe in a few large cosmopolitan cities. Honestly, the U.S. is one of the few nations where that attitude is widespread even outside cities. I've heard from a couple people that much of China is that way as well but i've never been and can't comment.
>>22122788Define "bosh", faggot.
Best Din Dins thread ever? Definitely in the running. Enjoy your travels. We live in Maine where the whole world comes in the summer so we stay put during the warm months. Traveling to Spain the late Fall though. Maybe i'll do a thread while we're there.
>>22125520Please stay un Muttmerica.
>>22125515It was a joke, calm down
Ragu, prosciutto and funghi aracine (arancini)The traditional Ragu one was the best
>>22125698

>>22122777B O S H !¡ H S O q
>>22124058that beer looks baller af
Prawn and shrimp pasta with pesto and pistachio tonight lads. It was bloody nice. In a trattoria that feels like their front room, all the plates and glasses are mixed up and you can see in the kitchen and the TV is going through Inter Milan's transfer rumours.Missus had a carbonara as the menu was "too fishy", the mardy shite. It was nice too.
>>22126291They seemed appreciative of my limited Italian, got a free lemon granita and a hug from the waiter on the way out lel
>>22126297
What a gaff. Love it.
>>22124067>>22124070>>22124473>>22124496absolutely pathetic and miserable people

>>22126535Really is mate. These Italians know how to live.
>>22122786The Italian deli I used to go to (in the US) had imported Sicilian cannoli, they were great and I can only imagine how amazing they must be when you actually get them fresh.
>>22126553We don't really have the climate for this.Having said that, across the river from you is Grimsby (Ok it's not what it used to be) but with the seafood coming in, we could have made more of it. Such a shame.
>>22126553>>22126688Just a point of interest, how are the prices?I guess Sicily gets it's seafood locally but I lived in the South of France for a while and the seafood was pretty inexpensive compared to Britain, even though the Langoustines, Oysters and Mussels came from Britain?
>>22126706Pretty cheap in most places, even cheaper in some
>>22127276
>>22126139i am jealous. my local bakeries only sell those but they are very stingy with the pistachio butter
>>22127276>>22127279Good prices indeed. They are so lucky being surrounded by good produce, it's just a way of life to them. Good thread din dins anon.
>>22126291>mardyThat's a word I haven't heard in years, I used to live near Worksop. North Notts.
>>22127557>Good prices for touristssalaries in southern Italy are lower than in Eastern Europe by now
