I was able to intercept many bags of kirkland frozen scallops but I don't know what to do with them other than pan searing with a little butter and garlic. I tried baking with bacon around them and that was OK but is there any other good way to use these up? These are them from costcos site. Thank You.
>>22122874we cook them like scallops

>>22122874I’m pretty happy with eating scallops with just a garlic butter sear desu, but i also put them in pasta. Usually the little bay scallops though. You could do a sushi bake thing> sear> dice> mix with spicy mayo> add to baking dish with seasoned rice> broil
>>22122906>pastaNo, I'm not fat. Though one guy did give me a great idea about adding them as the center of crab cakes. That was a good idea. Funny thing is if you look back in CKs archive I asked this very same question like a year ago and am still trying to eat them down. Unfortunately, most people here apparently don't know what to do with them other than a pan sear.Doesn't sushi have rice in it? If so, no that's more poison. Or did you mean sashimi?
Frozen scallops in a bag taste waterlogged just like the frozen shrimp in those bags
>>22122916That's why you have to pat them dry or put out in the sun until they dry or to put out in the paper towel with a pan then dry sear rather.
>>22122913You’re the strange grain guy!! No, i didn’t mean sashimi as apparent by The rice step in my greentext. But, you could do a similar thing without using rice. The main component is dicing seared scallop to turn it into a creamy base that you broil the top of. Add scallions, sesame seeds, furikake, whatever sounds good! Like pic rel but you don’t have to have the rice layer. Just get snack nori to eat it with> center of crab cakeThat sounds like a scallop scotch egg lolMixed into the crab cake would make more sense to me, but I’d be interested to see it if you make it!
>>22122925Someone just said to use the scallop as a cheap but not cheap filler and form the crab cake around it. It turned out well.
https://archived.moe/ck/thread/20946360/#q20948733Oh man I've had them since 2024? I gotta start scarfing these things down.
Make a cream sauce with a little white wine and shallots. Works really well with bay scallops too.
>>22122874scallop chowder is the only way I would even eat that frozen crap
>>22122952How are you supposed to get the scallops to you if they are not frozen? You have some special boat I don't know about?
>>22122874>you know what we really need? tell the shoppers how much protein exactly four (4) scallops have visibly on the bag>why, is it a 4 scallop bag or something?>no, theres like 15 to 20
>>22122986How else would you reasonably know how much protein was in there without doing mathematics?
>>22122986I'd imagine a serving size would be four scallops.
>>22123328whats a "serving size" ?
>>22123328Maybe if you're an infant. I usually get about 3 servings out of a 2lb bag.
>wild caught sea scallopsmore like collected

>>22123343It was a battle I tell you. Ignoring the adrenaline spiking in his chest, he released the net's drawstring. Hundreds of giant sea scallops cascaded across the deck in a chaotic, clattering pile of mud, rock, and shell.Shucking was a race against time and freezing fingers. Thomas sat on a low crate, a short, sharp knife held in his gloved hand. He grabbed a massive, barnacle-encrusted shell. The scallop sensed the danger, its blue perimeter eyes flashing as it violently snapped its valves closed, aiming to pinch his fingers. Thomas was faster. He slipped the blade through the hinge, severed the muscle with a precise twist, and flipped the top shell away. With a practiced scoop, he separated the sweet, pearly-white adductor muscle from the dark viscera, tossing the prize into a bucket of clean saltwater. He did this hundreds of times, his shoulders burning, his thumb bleeding where a jagged edge cut through his glove.
>>22122952Unless you are diving for your own scallops, they have been frozen. Either you thaw them yourself, or you buy them from a store that thawed them.
>>22123343TOO SLOW! AHHHHHAHAHAHAHA!

>>22123335Varies by how big the scallops are. You can buy "baby scallops" the size of a fingernail, or the big honking geriatric scallops half the size of your palm.
