Today I learned A&W used to be a restaurant. I always thought it was just a root beer company, but no, apparently A&W was one of the biggest fast food chains in America in the 60s and 70s until it got replaced by McDonald's and Burger King. That seems like such a massive downgrade. An A&W restaurant sounds much higher quality than McSlop. It was probably 25 cents for a burger back then too. What went wrong? Lol.
>What went wrong?Boomers rejected God for degeneracy and self-worship.
>>Still exists. Stopped at a 'n W on a road trip last week and got an ice cold mug of 't beer
>>22123676it's still going pretty strong in canada
>>22123676They still exist? There's a kfc/a&w in Seattle I used to go to. Stopped because the workers were fucking God awful and rude. The food is pretty good and can't beat that draft rootbeer
Only I time I been to an A&W was at the ærœport in Toronto. Also the first and last time I had poutine which was thoroughly enjoyable for a layover
>>22123709Was it busy?
>>22123676They're still around and are really popular in CanadaJust behind McDonald's and only a little behind SubwayThey've been going for a more 'ethical' food approach in recent years and people seem to really enjoy it as an alternative to McDonald's
>>22123676did u know A&W stands for Amburgers and Wootbeer?
>>22123783>subwayHow is that still popular in Canada
>>22123676>Lol. twitter bot thread
>>22123783>>22123833Look at this one at the airport. Almost 5k reviews and almost 5 star average. Which is fucking insanity for a fass food place.
>>22123833They sold franchises really, really cheap for a while in the 2000s; almost every small town and even some villages will have them because some boomer decided to make it his retirement projectUsed to be staffed almost entirely by fillipinos
>>22123676they have them in indonesia. i went to one in Manado. it was actually delicious and the root beer float was also awesome.
>>22123840Holy fuck so I wasn't just shitfaced from the $30 double vodkas and the 10 x 10mg thc gummies I ate before I dipped back to NZ the other week. My flight was mega delayed so we partied at the bar, last thing I did before boarding was get 2 x cheeseburgers and scarf them down. Fucking delicious.
>>22123676how do americans survive their own diet?
>>22123950Going by how much they whine about medical bills, they don't.
>>22123707> Typical zoomer response.> Blame "boomers".You fuck-wits have no idea what you are talking about. You all seem to be an authority on things that happened before you were born.
>>22123950they dontmost americans that've ever lived are dead now
>>22124024not true. there have been a total of 550-600 million US citizens of which about 340 million currently extant
>>22124033i was just being silly, but i love the fact that you looked that up
>>22124039and apparently there have been around 117 billion people going back to when we were basically wild animals
>>22123676A&W practically invented the fast-food franchise model in the 1920s, but their contracts were wayyyyyyyyyy too loose. A&W franchisees were essentially doing whatever they wanted. My old man used to bitch how there was never a standardized menu. Liker you know how you can walk into a Taco Bell or a Wendys or a McDerp's and get the same fucking thing for the most part at each place? You might get an amazing Papa Burger in one town, and a terrible hot dog in the next, if they even had it. People back in the day started to crave the absolute predictability that McDonald's offered because at least you knew what you were getting.
>>22123676Japan seems to be the place where old US chains go to live on. A&W is here, but only in Okinawa, and it’s pretty popular down there.
>>22123967ok boomer
>>22123833They don't fucking have anything else. They're 3rd world
>>22123709‘ys
amburgers and wootbeer
>>22125575I'm telling the Bishop
>>22123707>blaming boomers for everything>zero sense of personal responsibilityZoomers doom themselves.
>>22123964>>22124024>they don'tnice, nice
A&W is a pretty big deal in Canada still
>>22125586He's actually an unc just ignore him.
