Does it retain any sweetness?
>>

You will never be Danish
>>
>>22124717
This shit is oversweet and vile.
>>
>>22125462
>oversweet
it's mead
what the fuck did you expect? liquid bread?
>>
>1700
>vikings
Vikings were gone and Catholicized way before that point.
>>
>>22125642
Mead can be dry so there's no sweetness at all just like with wine. A lot of mead is too sweet because people hear "honey" and think it has to be like that. Same issue with apple cider in the US at least, since I've heard Euros have more dry cider.
>>
>Nordic honey wine
>hibiscus and ginger that grow nowhere close to Scandinavia.

Are you retarded?
>>
>>22125655
>so there's no sweetness at all just like with wine
i've never had a wine that didnt have any sweetness to it
grape wine, i mean
interesting
as for apple cider, the only ones i've tried smelled like symptoms of diabetes type 2, but maybe my country isnt the typical european country

1700 was two weeks ago anon
>>

>since I've heard Euros have more dry cider.
Especially the popular English ciders are sweet too with added sugars and ingredient lists from hell in general. Taste like sour apple candy.
It's just the French cidre brut that's always dry and pure.
>>
>>22125696
yeah its like the vikings must have sailed around or something
>>
>>22125769
>Especially the popular English ciders are sweet too with added sugars
Huh? Try something actually labelled as a dry cider, retard.
>>
>>22125655
>there's no sweetness at all just like with wine
Are you at least aware that you’re retarded? Like, do people tell you that a lot on a daily basis?
>>
>>22125790
I said popular, imbecile. It's not like only Americans prefer that overly sweet swill.
>>
>>22125808
What are you considering popular exactly?
You can buy big bottles of dry cider from any supermarket that don't have ingredient lists from hell or added sugars and aren't super sweet. Dry cider is very popular here.
>It's not like only Americans prefer that overly sweet swill.
I'm not the guy you were arguing with before about that and I agree with you. But there is nothing wrong with people liking sweet cider either. I just disagree with the notion that English ciders are all sweet with additives.
>>
>>22125830
>I just disagree with the notion that English ciders are all sweet with additives.
I never said that. Still popular brands like Somersby, Bulmer's or Strongbow all often contain a lot of shit while French cidre or German apfelwein are pure.
>>
Why are people here so obsessed with the wildly successful kickass resource with a huge searchable archive about whatever you want to discuss and a great community Reddit?

Gb2gaia fag.

>French cidre or German apfelwein are pure.
They really aren't any more pure if you're looking at similarly mass produced brands. If you're comparing big popular brands to big popular brands the ingredients list is going to be pretty much identical.

I like dry mead, but I don't love this type of stuff. Tastes like syrup with added alcohol.
>>
>>22125830
Dry Cider in the UK is not dry at all i was very disappointed

t.french
>>22125769
The Spaniards (well at least their basques) make proper cider too
>>
>>22125642
Nost mead ive had tastes like acetone.
>>
>>22125874
Nah, if you compare the cheapest cider sold in plastic bottles in countries that make real cider compared to mid priced cider in the countries that make ""cider""" the plastic bottle one will clear
>>
>>22125910
Only non-alcoholic cider is sold in plastic bottles like a milk jug.

Well yeah when I think of "popular" English cider I think of like supermarket 2L bottles of cider rather than Strongbow.

Always wanted to try Mead. I've got a bit of a sweet tooth.

I know. Fatness is a big thing here.

It's not as law forbids it.

It's not hard to ferment out all the sugar. You're the dumb one and I know that must be hard for you. It's pretty common today for someone to have poor reading comprehension and social skills and to just lash out at others because of it.

Making your own is easy. 6lbs of honey, 2.5 gallons of water. I use Lalvin K1V1116 yeast, gives a nice dry product with neutral esters that don't have much influence on final taste. Let it ferment for 30 days. At this point, you have a dry mead that's between 9.5 and 11 ABV, depending on the type of honey you used. Call it 10%. At this point, you can rack it to a secondary and add your spices. For a traditional red blodd mead, add 2tbsp of dried hibiscus flower, 1 tbsp of hops pellets (I use mittelfruh because it's mild and I have a bunch, any hops will work. This is a very medieval style of mead seasoning, the hops plus juiper and hibiscus are not things our modern palates usually enjoy together), 2 tbsp of dried juniper berries, lightly crushed. Let this sit for 3 days, then bottle. It is ready to drink immediately, but the flavor gets better with time. Mead is also delicious plain, or with cardamom, grains of paradise, and long pepper corns for a Christmas drink.
>>
>>22126377
Forgot to mention, the amount of hibiscus, juniper, and hops are per gallon. I usually split mine up into a gallon of blodd, a gallon of whatever I'm experimenting with, and leave a half gallon plain.

Real men drink bone dry wines.

The culture of reddit is cancer because it never evolves. It is like nerd early 2000’s internet meme culture frozen in time with safe edgy humor
>>
>>22125655
At that point just drink tequila cut with water or extra dry wine. Why would you drink mead?
>>
>>22126534
real men do no such thing. real men only drink room temperature everclear straight.
