Venison is great if you process it correctly and know how to cook it. Don't drive around with it all day, showing it off to your buddies. Right after you've killed it and are sure that it is dead, you slit its throat to bleed it out and then gut it out right where it lays. I usually take it home and then I'll get the hide off. At that point, split it in half, long ways, and then let it hang in a cool dark area with good airflow for a couple of days, making sure to check on it daily to make sure no mold or anything else funky is happening. A good water/vinegar solution rubbed onto it with a cloth is a good preventive measure
