How can I enjoy this shit without it tasting terrible? I’ve tried soy sauce and lime, but adding melted cheese isn’t a good idea since I’m trying to eat somewhat healthy.
I eat the stalks raw, the flowers are crap. Cheese IS healthy, stop falling for diet advice from idiots and garbage peddlers.
>>22125600If brocolli tastes bad to you you're too far gone. Might as well troon out and do keto
>>22125610>I eat the stalks raw,That's the worst part, do you chomp on like it's nothing?
>>22125600Pepper, red pepper flakes, italian herbs.
>>22125600I love broccoli
I would simply not eat food I don't like
>>22125622I want to do the same, but it's just taste not so great, I'm not sure if I'm eating it wrong somehow.>>22125623>I would simply not eat food I don't likeI need veggies in my diet, and broccoli is a solid source for that, do you recommend any others?
Cook it with teriyaki chicken
>>22125627>do you recommend any othersI guess that if you need your broc, you could try tossing it in a skillet with some kind of Asian sauce like teriyaki and onions, peppers, tofu, carrots, and a protein for a stir-fry
>>22125630>Asian sauce like teriyaki and onions, peppers, tofu, carrots, and a protein for a stir-frythanks
>>22125600>Not getting the superior versionThat's why
>>22125600Eat it raw or steam it until it's soft. "Tender-crisp" broccoli where it's cooked but still firm has none of the freshness of raw and none of the milder sweetness of fully cooked. Also, add lemon or vinegar. People usually forget to add something acidic to their vegetables.
>>22125627Cabbage is almost fucking tasteless if you're such a baby you can't even eat broccoli. Peas are good. Spinach?Have you tried cooking broccoli quick steam in microwave or blanch, then add butter plus ranch seasoning? Shit is always fire imo. You get the cheesy essence there without the calories.
>>22125600stop overcooking it just do a quick steam or a stir fry, when it turns a brighter green color it's done, take it out of the pot or pan immediately if it turns a darker olive green you fucked ityou only need 1-2 minutes on high heat or boiling waterwhen you cook it like this you get a nice fresh green flavour instead of stale farts
The only vegetable I can think of off the top of my head I don't like is bok choy, kind of tastes like piss. So I guess if anyone has any recommendations on how to make that taste better that'd be cool
>>22125618only good answer itt
>>22125637>Cabbage is almost fucking tastelessI hate cabbage more, I'm okay with spinach and peas, cabbage is crunchy tasteless green paint chip.
>>22125646is the worst answer so far, and keto diet is retarded.
>>22125620>it's nothing? It's flavorful and crunchy. Beats celery and carrots.
>>22125649I love me some cabbage. Just stick to spinach and peas then >>22125651I love celery and carrots what is wrong with you guys?
>>22125651Funny thing I hate the crunchiness of the broccoli stalk but enjoy it on carrots and celery.>>22125657Retarded.
>picky eaters can't handle salted vegetableswe need to kill all these defective creatures
>>22125657Celery is gross, carrots are OK I guess (but worse than broccoli stalks ofc).
>>22125672>Worse than broccoli stalksYeah I'm gonna need you to face the wall
>>22125600You can't. Brocolli is a garbage vegetable that every living thing (except rabbits) hates.
>>22125600Soy sauce, oyster sauce, mirin, rice wine vinegar, sugar, sesame seed oil and corn starch. Saute it up with a bag of frozen florets and enjoy over rice. Throw some meat in too if you want, I like pork tenderloin.
Anything sauce related broccoli goes well with because it has a greater surface area than most other vegetables and will retain that sauce better.
>>22125684you are a liar and nobody likes you
>>22125600don't steam it. fry, grill, roast, fucking anything but steaming the goddamn thing. in fact everyone's aversion to broccoli is entirely because they had someone who fed them steamed broccoli from a frozen bag that smelled and tasted like baby vomit. but we don't have to live that way! you can get real fresh broccoli! you can prepare it right! you can even sauce it up! but for god fucking sakes, PLEASE don't steam it.
>>22125600Just boil in salt water. Broccoli doesn't need anything else even pepper.
>>22125600Does roasting seasoned veggies in olive oil not exist to you people? >>22125649>cabbage is crunchy tasteless green paint chip.Weird way to say lettuce
>>22125600dressings are a hack seriously try them>>22125610>stop falling for diet advice from idiots and garbage peddlers>cheese IS healthynice try, idiot garbage peddler
I just steam mine and it tastes great
>>22125600just eat it pussy what are you 5
Okay so far I have: Red pepper flakes, Italian herbs, Teriyaki, butter, ranch seasoning, lemon, vinegar, oyster sauce, mirin, seasame seed oil, that I will soon be trying with broccoli in the soon future
>>22125758These are all great ideas, report back
>>22125732im not OP, but can confirm
>>22125600Raw. Dip it in some hummus or something.
>>22125600Or get Brussel sprouts instead.
>>22125650How long have you been doing keto?
>>22125778as a rule of thumb: if someone is too plebeian for broccoli dont even bother suggesting brussel sprouts
>lowers your estrogen and filters manchildren while tasting greatWhat a based little vegetable
>>22125783I like to roast my Brussels sprouts with red grapes. They kinda caramelized and you get a nice sweet taste to balance the bitterness of the sprouts.
>>22125758Hope you enjoy them, Nicofriend.
>>22125600Lemon butter you dumb fuck
>>22125718nice diarrhea collection, but you remain dead wrong
You can literally put it in the blender with nacho cheese and put it on steak, chicken, seafood... whatever normal meat food people eat. Pulse it though.
>>22125627>I need veggies in my dietNo you don't.
>>22125879Don't tell him. Just let him die eating that shit and filling up this forum with other unhealthy barely edible foods like bread, pasta and rice.
>>22125882>bread, pasta and riceohyou again
Raw broccoli with some simple avocado & lime dressing. Avocado, lime juice, garlic if you want, a little bit of salt, some olive oil too. That's all you need.I eat raw broccoli and raw carrots this way.
>>22125610>Cheese IS healthy, stop falling for diet advice from idiots and garbage peddlersseriously, it's always the dumb fatties who think cheese in unhealthy for some reasonI mean, maybe if you're eating triple cheese pizza for all meals. but there is literally nothing wrong with cheese in normal quantities. just eat less garbage, it's not hard
>>22125922red meat, especially red meat full of nitrates and nitrites, is way worse for your health than the average cheese. not all cheeses are even that high in saturated fat, try some goat cheese sometime.
>>22125634is the right answer
>>22125922>in normal quantitiesNote here, a 1lb block of sharp cheddar is not 'normal quantities' for the purpose of this discussion.
Only eat a few if raw. Otherwise, steam it thoroughly.
>>22126006Boiling is more effective and remove the terrible taste.
>>22125600Steam add salt and pepper and then put loads of butter on them. >>22125710Wrong most people's aversion comes from eating overboiled broccoli. Steaming IS the answer fuckface!!!
>>22125627There are so many veggiesBrussels sprouts> Get a bag of frozen> roast for 20 min at 400> pull them out and smoosh them flat> salt, pepper, whatever> put them back at 450 for 15 minutesDo you like cauliflower? I personally love broccoli but hate cauliflower, maybe give it a whirl. Asparagus is good pan fried or oven broiled. Peas, spinach, eggplant, squash, cabbage, green beans, soy beans, a million different types of green leaves desu. What do you need from your veggies? Fiber?
>>22125859If you can’t govern people because of cheese you just suck at governing
Buy with big stalkVeg peeler the side of the brocc stem to take away fibery exteriorSlice lengthwise in halfSteam for about 7 minEat plain. All the weird flavor goes away and you get the soft tender vegetable meat taste that you otherwise only taste in artichoke meat. I went from avoiding stems to preferring them.
>>22125600>but adding melted cheese isn’t a good idea since I’m trying to eat somewhat healthy. You have no options cause you are clearly retarded and a weak little pussy
>>22125621Ignore this poor person with defective taste buds who puts the same boring shit on everything regardless of whether it makes sense or not.
>>22125710Steamed broccoli is great. Just dont let it steam for a half hour. Grow up.
>>22125600Try them on a roast dinner with plenty gravy. Sorted
>>22126008Yes that too and it's how you blanch it to stir fry it.
>>22125600salt and sprinkle of white wine vinegar
>>22125600>I’m trying to eat somewhat healthy>Eats poisonous flowersjust go eat some steak
>>22126205>dude just go eat processed grass instead
>>22125848yep. as soon as OP adds lemon to the equation he’ll shut the fuck up
Can some QRD me the best way to cook broccoli and cauliflower from frozen? I'm thinking put on sheet , drizzle olive oil, salt & pepper then put in @ 400f. Flip halfway a little more drizz and S&P? Will it turn out nice and roasted or is frozen best steamed? I don't have a steamer so I just put a little bit of water in my pan and cover with a lid, but it's a bit mushy then.
>>22126255I’ve had luck with the toaster
>>22126255I make chunky cauliflower mash, just boil them frozen, then drain and mash together with butter, pepper, salt, mustard and a bit of curcuma.
Stop being a fucking dumb child, start with that, it'll come naturally afterwards.
>>22125600I cant believe none of you uncultured barbarians mentioned balsamic vinegar cream. It comes in different flavors too like fig, orange, honey etc.
>>22126309>none of you uncultured barbarians mentioned balsamic vinegar creamif you want to enjoy broccoli, it turns out that you dont need anything besides broccoli to enjoy broccolibuddy man dude bro
>>22126267Anyone have the cartoon version of this?
>>22125600Salt, pepper. That's all they need.
>>22125600Try roasting them rather than the usual methods of cooking. I've found that, with roasting, a lot of the broccolish nastiness mellows out. Of course, you'll lose any health benefits/nutrients compared to steaming, but you might enjoy the taste more.
again, if you undercook broccoli it tastes bad, and if you overcook broccoli it tastes badroasting is too harsh, makes it dry and leatheryyou have to steam it until its tender and bright, and then take it off before it starts to wilt and turn dark green/olive. when the color goes away, new gross taste compounds are developed instead of the delicate zucchini artichoke meat fleshlike taste>thread longer than 6 posts>op will only read the replies that say to douse it in 500 grams of sugar and salt and seasoning to hide the overcooked flavor
>>22125610If you cut the stalks into flats/candlesticks, they cook like bamboo shoots and taste good
>>22126012>What do you need from your veggies? Fiber?I try to atleast have on single green on my plate. I might give cauliflower a go.
>>22126420>op will only read the replies that say to douse it in 500 grams of sugar and saltI have read every comment don't worry, I also ignored the anons that thought it was funny calling me a retarded child even though most retarded children wouldn't even dare try to find a way to enjoy broccoli.
>>22125600It sounds stupid, but if you really want to force yourself to eat healthier, eat it with your nose plugged (I know, it sounds incredibly stupid, but it works to make most of the bad taste go away). It works with any food; I do it whenever I'm forced to eat something I hate, lol.
What tastes bad about it?Is this like the cilantro/coriander thing where only some people taste it differently?
add hot sauce
I just slice it thin, blanch it and dress it with olive oil, garlic and vinegar. That's it. But you could try Neapolitan pasta with broccoli. There are two variants, wet and dry, and the wet one has itself two variants, sauce or soup. All start with blanched and shocked brocc.Dry: Saute in olive oil with whole garlic cloves Add red chili flake at the end then toss with freshly boiled spaghetti.Top with a little grated cheese and serve.Wet 1 (soup): Saute in olive oil with whole garlic cloves Add chili flake and vegetable broth to just coverBring to the boil then add broken spaghetti.Allow the liquid to reduce, topping up with boiling water from the kettle as necessary until pasta is done. This makes the pasta release starch into the soup, thickening it and giving it a pleasant texture and silky mouthfeel Serve with cheese and pepper. Wet 2 (sauce): similar to above but with slightly more broth so the kettle is unnecessary. Beat an egg or two with grated cheese and add the pasta/broccoli/broth mixture to the egg a little at a time until about half of the pot contents have been beaten into the egg mixture, tempering them then pour back into the pot and off the heat. It thickens into a savoury custard, a common way to serve vegetable-based pasta dishes in Naples. You can make it without pasta, boiling unbroken spaghetti separately and dressing it with the broccoli custard after.
>>22126552>eat it with your nose pluggedIf there is nothing else to eat I get it, but I do genuinely want to enjoy eating broccoli, I have used the nose technique when eating raw tomatoes.
>>22125610Stalks are shit, flower is the good part
>>22126538Try green beans, they’re super good
