Best canned fish and how do you eat them?

For me it's roasted sprats in spicy tomato atop toasted somun or pasta.

Also a big fan of smoked herring with mayo, mustard, and red onion on pumpernickel.

Try looking for grocery stores that have fresh sardines. I was amazed to find that they're actually cheaper than the canned ones and they taste way better.

Sardines are good but what ways do you eat them? I feel like there's just no way to enjoy these little creatures without carbs...

>best canned fish
Cantabrian anchovy
>how do you eat them
On a skewer with a proper olive (Taggiasca or Gordal) and Basque green pepper (Ibarrako piparra). Paired with an assertive Champagne - Clandestin, Les Grandes Lignes, for instance.

I just ate a 4oz can of sardines mixed up with five scrambled eggs and some unsweetened BBQ sauce and minced garlic. Bretty good low-carb lunch.

I don't know how frequently you can find fresh fish where you live but I am landlocked sir. It's an affordable way to eat nutritional foods as a student :p

>>22126191
You lost me with the barbecue sauce... But that sounds good. I think it'd pair well with soft boiled eggs.
>>
>>22126133
You ever eat pickled herring over crackers or buttered bread? Super good
>>
>>22126157
I usually eat them with bread, but I've also mashed them into pasta sauce.
>>
>>22126312
herring is already too fatty. i wouldn't want to eat it on buttered bread

This was a trend on social media recently and people cleared the shelves as soon as they were stocked, It happened here in Britain and elsewhere too.

Sprats aren't sold in tins in Britain, you usually have to go to a fishmonger but they are in the USA but here is the funny thing . . . . .Americans think they are Sardines, even their favourite brand 'King Oscar' is actually 'Brisling Sardines' AKA Sprats.

In Britain we can get real Sardines for 49 Pence per tin (US$0.65) either in Tomato sauce, oil or brine.

Sometimes I eat the tomato sauce ones direct from the tin with a little tabasco - other times I will eat them with those flavoured cous cous packets which only takes 2 minutes with boiling water . . .a nice snack. But they are good on toast if you but them back under the grill to finish them off.

Same as the cans my friend. A nice olive oil applies to all the following: Lemon, Hot sauce, Mustard, Tomato sauce. I'm sure some others here have better recipes than I only tried the whole frozen ones once.

My big thing is making sure that none are sourced near India or China.

>Sardines are a group of small, oily fish that are caught all over the world. They are related not just to herring and sprats, but anchovies as well. There are over 20 species of fish considered sardines, and they are fished throughout the oceans, from Japan to California to France and Portugal, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea. The name for the whole group comes from the Sardina pulchadus species, the "true sardine," which are named after the Italian island of Sardinia.

Infact your Google AI search took information from Reddit.

How sad is that?
>>
>>22126859
A numpty my boy, really? I'm well aware there are different scientific names for extremely similar species. The same blokes who swear by that stuff will also call Muhammad Malik 'A fine British Londoner.'

Enjoy your fake sardines.

Omg it sounds really good I'll definitely be trying this. Seems very much like samosa I wonder if seasoning it like one and adding the same things would be good?
