Any tips to improve my salad making skills? Currently using a store bought iceberg lettuce salad mix, cucumber, dried cranberries, almonds, and blue cheese. Also some canned chicken breast most days.
Picrel is my mostly finished salad because I forgot to take a picture

yeah avoid taylor farms (feces farms)
>>
>>22127920
I don't know who that is
>>
>>22127915
No. You are beyond help.
>>
>>22127930
Please I promise I learn fast
>>
>>22127915
OP, do you have access to a salad light spinner?
>>
>>22127956
No what's that
>>
>>22127915
>no ranch
it never even began
>>
>>22127963
I don't really like ranch... although I've only ever tried it with pizza. Do I drizzle it on top?? Mix it in like a sauce? Or do I carry it in a small container on the side for dipping?

Go to a salad restaurant and watch what they do.

If you often eat salad, a salad spinner is a nice way of drying off lettuce after you've washed it. They cost ten bucks at Ikea.
>>
>>22127966
you just squirt it in your ‘lad and toss it
>>
>>22127969
I stole my recipe from a salad I liked after avoiding salad all my life. Obviously with cheaper ingredients but it isn't too bad, just trying to branch out and improve
>>22127974
Didn't know about these, will invest
>>22127976
Will try. Won't be my first time squirting in a lad if you know what I mean
(Any ranch recommendations?)
>>
I keep a bottle of premade dressing in the fridge with everything except the oil. It really speeds things up
>>
>>22127982
I've heard the term "salad dressing" before but I thought it was just ranch... how do you make it?
>>
>>22127986
mayo, buttermilk, parsley, dill (important), garlic powder, salt and bebber.
some people will make it with sour cream or greek yogurt
>>
>>22127991
Thank you, I'll give it a try
>>
>>22127991
add just a tiny splash of red wine vin.
>>
>>22127915
Dont eat bleu cheese its bad for your soul.
>>
>>22128038
Or lemon juice is good too
>>
>>22128047
What color should my cheese be then?
>>
>>22128049
Yellow or green?
>>
>>22127915
Honestly i would avoid iceberg as a salad base. Its bland and watery. If you want to include it, make sure a better lettuce like romaine, butter or even arugula is your base.
>>
>>22128056
yellow
>>
>>22127969
thats gay as fuck
>>22127915
USE A FUCKIN SAUCE!
>much oil, little vinegar
>salt, sugar, pepper
>yoghurt
>herbs
>>
>>22128064
I was avoiding romaine because I thought that was the one that gives you e coli or aids or something

It's like, you can't be a good artist if you've never actually seen or learned about good art. All good tools are built from lesser tools. The only way to know how to make good salad is if you've had good salad before, and unfortunately there are waay too many bad, lazy salads out there. When you go out to eat, see if they got a good salad. If you get something you really really enjoy, look at what's in it and determine why you like it so much. If you get a bad salad, determine why it's so bad and avoid it. Take that info with you and develop your salad repertoire.

Of course, nothing stopping you from experimenting at home in the meanwhile or learning tips online. It's not like you should have to buy a salad every week or something.

Good advice! I really liked the salad your mother made me last night after I fucked her so I'll be sure to watch closely when she makes it for me again tonight
>>

Oh yeah the cyclospora. Well, nevermind romaine then. Spring mix is pretty good. Frisee is good too. Even kale can be good with the right ingredients (i prefer it cooked).
>>

I'll try to branch out, thanks

Agree with other anons that a homemade salad dressing really elevates a salad.

If you’re going big on salads maybe check out a restaurant supply store to buy in bulk. For example the Costco business center has 3 pound of spring salad mix for $6.50 (they have a regular bulk salad mix even cheaper but might be recalled atm)
