Does enjoying desserts at a café make the whole indulgence experience better than at home alone?

A pie and coffee at a reputable diner is fantastic.
Kinda depends which cafe you're at, but dessert and coffee is pretty comfy.

If it’s a single serving of dessert I’d go with cafe (assuming it’s relaxed and friendly), but if I’m overindulging then definitely at home.

Not really. Cafes and restaurants are generally always trying to shoo you away to turn over the seat. So while they do appreciate the dessert sales, it's always unpleasant to have rush.

A home dessert experience is on your time, and is by default always better - even with store bought dessert items. Plus milk is a better beverage than coffee with most dessert items. Far easier to get milk at home, though diners will tend to have some type available.

Not to mention you can dessert while watching TV or a movie. Max comfy on the couch. No hard wood seat is ever gonna beat the couch.

And even the fancy places desserts can be easily replicated at home if you get the extra bits at the grocery and are prepared.

Also if you want the "outdoors" experience, just eat on your porch, deck or yard, just set up chairs and a umbrella. Boom, you are eating outside. I used to do that during the pandemic during spring/fall. Really pleasant, and no one around to make noise or bother you.

There's something cozy about sipping from a huge ceramic mug and eating a pastry in a noisy cafe, especially in winter

I think its a good way to have a healthy relation with pastries and desserts. If youre having them at home you tend to over eat and to do it more often. If you exclusively eat sugary foods at a place you eat less.

Yea, if I'm in the city, busy having to go to A, B, C and then back to A and my home is in the suburbs, I'd go to a cafe, otherwise why pay 2 times the worth?

My apple pies never come out so solid, what's the trick?
