What local wines do you like, /ck/? I recently got into my local vineyards and like D’Arenberg and Krondorf the most, although Little Giant has its place. Do you look for any notes or aromas when buying a local wine? What varietals or blends do you like?
We don't really have any acceptable "local" wines, by which I mean within throwing distance of the city; white women unironically think wolffer estate is goodIf I can be given some leeway on what counts as "local" I do drink a moderate amount of stuff from the finger lakes, rieslings obviously, rkatsitelis, cabs franc, pinots noir. There's a fair amount of gewurztraminer and just plain old traminer but I wish they grew silvaner insteadFrank, Wiemer, Ravines, some others I guess

I live in Central Missouri...I am surrounded by wineries and vineyards and it's all terrible sweet wine.
Virginia wine is all subpar
Paso is my closest wine region. I like Clesi, Herman Story, Saxum, Andremily, Clos Selene, Turtle Rock... there's a lot to like here :)

>>22132208I generally just buy what's interesting but I like wines from around Melbourne. Macedon is my favourite because the producers out there are less commercial and the wines are generally high quality, especially the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (and I'm not even a Pinot/Chardonnay guy). There's great stuff coming out of Yarra Valley and Geelong too, but the quality isn't as consistent. I'm not as much into Mornington, I often find the wines a bit boring.

I'm normally a whisky drinker and hate most wine, but this is one of the few things that actually impresses me and is very good value for the money to boot.I'm absolutely clueless about what the winefags who drink all the expensive shit actually like in wine, but I'd love to hear if there's anything else like this but 'more advanced'.

>>22133976Yeah it's partly because the big bold obvious reds are easier to parse, but also because a lot of white boomer harley golf NPC types think of wine as a fancy special occasions thing and also happen to exclusively think of steak when they want a "nice" meal
