post a good easy Crock-Pot chill recipe for beginners here please, thinking about making my first one today
>>
>>22132302
>1 lb 70/30 ground beef. The fattest you can find.
>1 15 oz can dark red kidney beans. dark, mind you.
>1/2 large onion, slivered. 3 heaping tsp garlic.
>spices: 1.5 tbsp chili powder. 1.5 tsp cocoa powder. 1 short tsp cumin. 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp sugar
>0-3 habaneros, chopped, depending on whether you like it spicy or not. wash your fingers thoroughly after chopping.
>1 small can tomato paste
>1 can rotel
>1 1/2 cups beef boullion/broth.

>sautee the onions in a 2 tbsp butter. avoid any browning if you can. as they near done, add the garlic and go for another minute or so. dump into the pot.
>brown the beef thoroughly. dump all of it, including all the fat and liquid into the pot. fatass 70/30 beef gives you a lot of flavor.
>add all other ingredients, stir thoroughly.
>salt to taste
>at this point, it may look a little on the thick side, or at least a little dense, and that's ok. After about 2 hours, quite a bit of the remaining liquid will be released from the vegetables

>low for 4.5 hours
>give it a stir every hour
>at hour 2, you've reached max liquid level. if it's too thick, add a little more water to thin to your liking. recheck for salt

walla
>>
>>22132302
As an alternate to the rotel, you can use:
>1/2 of a 15 oz can diced tomatoes + all the liquid
>1 cup roasted green new mexico chiles
>only 1 1/4 cup beef broth instead of 1 1/2.
I do it this way because I always have chiles from the garden. But rotel is perfectly good.

The tomato paste is the real superstar here. It pumps the whole thing to flavortown levels that shouldn't be possible. And don't be shy with the garlic. You want a solid garlic note in the end product. Be careful with the cumin - it is by far the most potent of the spices. Too much of it and it can become overwhelming, ruining flavortown. So use a "short" tsp. All the other spices you can go nuts on. Sometimes I get the urge to push the cocoa like Kramer in a rental car.

this is a beginner recipe?? wtf I get myself into
>>
>>22132370
im using Rotel it's easy
>>
>>22132371
>measure out all your spices first. put them in a little dish
>boil your boullion (1 cube or 2. it's your choice)
>open all the cans
>sautee onions
>brown beef
>dump it all together and stir
Easy. There's only 2 real cooking steps here.
>>
>>22132371
If you're a noob, it's worth looking up how to brown beef properly. In short, don't keep flipping it. Just let it sit for a good solid while on one side, and give it a single flip. It should be BROWN not GRAY.
>heed the warning about cumin
>>
>>22132379
>>22132382

I can't just dump raw beef in the crockpot and let it cook ,
>>
>>22132388
Absolutely not. Use the same pan to sautee the onions and then do the beef. My stove goes up to 9. I sautee the onions at 7 and brown the beef at 8. When sauteeing the onions, keep the out of the middle of the pan and stir them very frequently. You're just trying to get them clear and soft, nothing more. Tons of butter here is very important.

Is this bait?

No. Homie was just given a crock pot for his birthday because he has a new apartment. We're going to teach him to cook. I believe in anon, retard or not.

I just made this but insta pot. You can very much make this in the crock pot though.

>2 cups of dried beans soaked over night or two cups of 16 oz canned beans, I usually always do black and red beans, or kidney beans (if you do kidney beans dried you really have to soak them overnight), drain and rinse beans if canned
>1 can rotel preferably hot, don't drain
>1 can think just 12-16 oz diced tomatoes, don't drain
>1 yellow onion diced
>1 lb ground beef or whatever ground meat you prefer beef will always be superior
>For spicy I added 2 diced jalapenos, as well as 1 habanero
>Some garlic
>Juice of 1 decent sized lemon

That's my basic chili recipe. Tonight I made it like this:

Browned the meat then added the onions along with pepper and salt. Once the onions were starting to turn translucent I tossed in my garlic. I added my peppers then to give a small sautee. Cleared a bit of the pan to put some tomato paste, paprika, cayenne, and crushed cumin to toast for about 1.5 minute. Stirred all this, added more salt (dried beans is what I used tonight so they eat the hell out of salt so I used a lot, but don't over do it), pepper, and oregano. I added the rotel and tomatoes, scraped the bottom with the juices. Tasted for seasoning, I added a shit ton of Slap Yo Mama seasoning hot kind, which I highly recommend ngl it's great for this stuff but it has salt so be careful. Then I added my lemon and let it cook. I would set to low for 3-4 hours if you're using ALL canned maybbeee 5. But if you're using dried/soaked I do longer.
Chili is a very easy recipe and loves to be experimental. I also add about a half teaspoon of cinnamon to mine and it is the chef's kiss. Enjoy~

>>22132302
>rump steak 2 inch cubes
>bag of mixed dried chili’s
>Comino
>Sear the steak
>Rehydrate the peppers and blend into a paste
>Dump it in.
>Season half way through.
Bosh.
>>
so you just"brown" the ground beef you don't fully cook...

There is no such thing as good crock pot chili. There is no such thing as good crock pot cooking. Crock pots are an abomination, utilized only by the lazy and unskilled.

I think you're the one unskilled if you can't make a good crock pot meal which is virtually* idiot proof

Read the recipe dipshit. You sautee the onions and brown the meat before putting them into the pot. Those are the only two steps in the entire process. It's not complicated. Are you a 2-digit IQ mulatto zoomer by chance? Is this one of those things like where schools have to start teaching algebra in 12th grade because the entire school is central americans now?
>>
>>22133377
Too many steps faggot face. If you're cooking in a crock pot you shouldn't have to do anything outside of putting ingredients in a crock pot dumb fuck. Jesus Christ how fucking stupid are you?
>>
>>22133379
One of the dumbest statements on /ck/, and that's saying something. You don't actually understand what it is that a crock pot does as a cooking tool do you? It's ok, we generally don't expect people who live in favelas to understand abstract concepts like "preparing ingredients" and that sort of thing.

>a tool
I've responded to you...
>>
>>22133387
Well, you're wrong. A crock pot isn't a cooking tool for abject retards. It does two things: First, it's a braising tool. And second, it's a flavor blending tool. Thinking of it as "durr, just throw things in it and go watch FUTBOL" is for cooklets. Perhaps you should stick to shooting monkeys out of a tree with a blowgun and boiling them in a pot of water with some fried tree grubs. Oh wait sorry, frying grubs is too complex.

OMG Paul Prudhomme posts here??? Wowzers!!!

>>22133401
Nigga, even reddit-tier Mississippi pot roast involves flouring, seasoning and searing a chuck roast prior to throwing it in the crock pot. Are you saying that's too much for you? Like, you're such a dunce that you can't even do things redditors can do? Have some self respect.

I make this all the time with the cheapest store brand crap, it tastes great and costs about $20 for that whole assed pot if you already have those spices.

It's just chorp 2 veg, sear some meat, dump cans in pot, and don't touch for 8 hours. If you are TRULY a disabled autistic assburgers kneesocks wearing NEET weeb then substitute the spices for a couple of store brand chili spice packets and save yourself 47 seconds
www.eatingonadime.com/wendys-chili-recipe

2lbs ground beef
~30 oz diced tomatoes
~30 oz tomato sauce
~30 oz kidney beans
~30 oz pinto beans
3-6 stalks celery
1 green bell pepper
1 cup beef broth (I use Better than Bouillon, cubes are fine too)
1/4 cup chili powder
1 tablespoon cumin
Salt and pepper to taste (start with 1 teaspoon each)
Add hot peppers to taste

I put a teaspoon of Carolina reaper powder in mine for some zow. I do not like the sweetness of onyo in mine, nor sugar, I think it dulls the flavor
>>
use cornbread mix to to thicken it. Trust me on this.
>>
>>22133652
Celery is certainly a choice.
>>
if you're making chili in a crock pot it's because you're too lazy to make real chili so you might as well just use a powdered mix. I like this one but I use a can of rotel instead of plain tomato and chicken broth instead of water.
>>
>>22133820
What exactly does that replace?

Chili powder, salt and cumin isn't "everything." It's hardly anything. It's basically one of these, but bulk.
>>
>>22133820
There really is nothing wrong with using this. I am a chili professor, but if you really have no dried chilis or spices...you can make a passable chili with this

my real chili recipe is meat, 7 different kinds of peppers, garlic, onion, cumin, oregano, and salt, so yes that literally is everything but the meat. it's not as good as making your chili paste yourself, but it's perfectly fine for a crock pot. I used it last month to make chili for chili dogs.

the other thing that's good about it is the volume. that package is 4 ounces. about a 3rd of it is corn flour which I don't use most of, but the rest is still over half a cup of chili powder for 2lbs of meat. that's 10 tablespoons. most other chili recipes I see have barely any actual chili in them. look at the other recipes posted so far.

>>22132354
this guy has only 1.5 tsp for 2lbs of meat.
>>22132397
this guy uses cajun seasoning and doesn't have any actual chili powder at all
>>22133652
this guy has 1/4 cup for 2lbs of meat and almost a gallon of other shit.

for the record this is how many real peppers I would use for about 3 lbs of meat.
>>
>>22133686
Now this is an idea
>>
>>22134398
Yeah I want to get on the dried pepper game at some point. Chili powder imo just barely adds anything even if I used a lot. Kind of just completely forgot about it this round, still was plenty hot.
>>
>>22134398
>this guy has only 1.5 tsp for 2lbs of meat.
You are a retard. It is 1.5 TBSP for ONE pound of meat. At least learn to fucking read.
>>
>>22134424
my mistake but that's still barely anything. using the kit I posted is like 5 tablespoons per pound of meat.

>>22134415
if you don't have dried whole peppers powder is your only alternative. if it's not adding anything for you then you either aren't using enough or you have shitty or old powder.

I think people have a fundamental misunderstanding of what chili is supposed to be. chili con carne means peppers with meat, but it seems like most people are afraid of having "too much" pepper. most also seem to not understand that it's talking about specific peppers like anchos and guajillos and think that fucking bell peppers and paprika make their vegetable stew into chili.
>>
>>22134524
You're being extremely autistic about a stew that is made for poor people
