What is the nastiest food you ever had the displeasure of eating. I'll go first.

>Be me. 7 year old kid obsessed with Transformers, Skeletor, G.I. Joe, Dragons, and GoBots.
>Have friends.
>Stay the night at a friend's house.
>His mom makes hormel, beanless chili-mac (kraft).
>Barely keep from vomiting.
>Asked by his mom if I liked it.
>Politely smile and nod my head.
>She immediately tells my mom over the phone that I loved it and gives her the recipe.
>Siblings and I are forced to eat it for the next 7 years at least once a week.
>If we refuse, we get beat and sent to bed without dinner.
>Autistic brother has meltdowns over it and end up in screaming fits where he tantrums and yells "DON'T LOOK AT ME!!!! STOP LOOKING AT ME!!!!!!"
>My entire family becomes unstable and deranged.
>My father becomes and alcoholic as a result of the stress and constant fights brought about by chili-mac tantrums.
>Learn that being polite to any woman is a mistake.
>Still retch at the mere sight of chili-mac.
>See pic related in my mind anytime I hear someone even mention chili-mac.
>Never lie again.

Your turn.

i ate a dry steak once

I think you have autism too.
Transformers, Skeletor, G.I. Joe, Dragons, and GoBots had absolutely nothing to do with this story, but you felt the need to add those extra details for no reason whatsoever.
A common autism trait.

When I was maybe 8 or 9 years old, I went with my mom to a luncheon for the teacher's union she was in. It was in a big hall and there was all kinds of stuff to eat. At one point, I saw a plate of pickles. And I'm like "oh yeah, pickles". So I pick one up and eat it. But it's not a dill pickle. It's some other kind of fucked up pickle that I wasn't expecting. Immediately puke. Nauseous for hours. To this day, like 40 years later, I associate the word "luncheon" with throwing up.
>>
>>22145735
Merely sharing a bit about myself to give readers a vague idea of what kind of kid I was back in the 80s. i.e., fairly normal.
It just helps set the tone of my experience.
This is a Food Story thread.
>>22145726
Why though?
Who made that abomination?
Was it just overcooked or a failed attempt to make jerky?
>>
>>22145739
I love dill pickles.
I detest pickles that are sweetened or taste "unpickled", like a raw cucumber. Shit is gross. I'm the same way about most foods. I'm not a fan of sugary slop.

One time my grandma made "bread pudding". But it was just plain bread soaked in milk and sugar. I ran to the trash can and puked it out.
Then I got in trouble for hurting my grandmas feelings.

Pic absolutely not related.
>>
>>22145742
Did she try to improve the recipe or was she stubborn about it? I'm a chef, so I accept constructive criticism and will try to improve my recipes. Guilting people over someone's else's failures as a chef is subhuman.
>>
>>22145745
I mean, homie was probably like 11 years old. His mom said "hey! apologize to grandma!" and that was the end of it. It wasn't some Gung-Ho style dressing down of a failed employee.
>>
>>22145742
Sounds more like milk toast than bread pudding which at least has eggs in it. Hardly sounds "throw it up" bad either way.
>>
>>22145745
>self-identifying as a chef
cringe

It was literally my career.

I didn't eat it but the Amish use milk instantly coffee and meat to drink, fucking hell.

I put Hormel beans chili with jalapenos in my chili mac. It is divine

>be me
>father takes us to the Bahamas every year for New Year's vacation
>rents a sort of a pre-internet version of AirBnB vacation condo
>one year the owner of the condo tells dad about a local dish, "whelk stew"
>whelks are little spiral-shell gastropods that clamp onto rocks at the tidal interface
>basically snails except less mobile
>dad fixates on the idea that we're going to eat this shit for dinner that night
>goes around collecting whelks
>boils the shit out of them
>pulls all these little blobs of snail meat out of their shells
>keeps boiling the shit out of them along with canned tomatoes and other crap
>entire condo REEKS of iodine
>finally
>he dumps this shit into bowls and tells us to eat it
>I take a bite, gag, and refuse to eat any more
>eventually he realizes that this local delicacy is not exactly a big hit with anyone
>in fact quite the opposite
You might be able to eat that shit if you were starving and it was a choice between iodine whelk stew and dying. I might just pick dying, personally.

Years ago I went on a business trip with my dad to Ft. Lauderdale for some political seminar thing (he worked as a lobbyist for police organizations at the time) along with my aunt who was insanely rich and was an executive at Stanley Steemer. Both raging narcissists, never satisfied with anything, a nightmare to be around. I helped assemble paper envelopes with keynote materials for the seminar. We went to this absurdly expensive steakhouse near the Hilton hotel we were staying at near where the seminar was taking place, we’re talking $70 for a single steak in mid 2010s prices. I ordered the literal cheapest thing I could find on the menu (some platter of pickled vegetables or something) because I felt guilty about being a financial burden to them, or it would be used as emotional leverage against me later.
I ended up getting in some big pissy argument with the aunt at the table, I don’t even remember what it was about.
I later wrote a letter on note paper trying to apologize for that incident but never actually handed it to her.
Just a fucking nightmare all around, to be surrounded by such wealth and opulence but there’s a fucking knife to your throat the whole time, it wasn’t worth it. I should’ve just stayed home and played video games

what do cosmic horrors feel like?

>It just helps set the tone of my experience.
NTA but it really doesn't.
Your narrative structure kinda sucks and it seems like an excuse to just bitch about women even though it looks like your autistic brother and alcoholic father inflicted just as much trauma on you as your abusive mother
>>
>>22145725
Its always you fucking spergs acting so ungrateful for basic leisure's that most others dont have. Your parents made you eat Kraft macaroni? How horrible.. Imagine if they beat you for complaining that there was no family dinner, maybe you would understand what a privilege it is to have a full stomach if you ever had to go to bed hungry. I swear to god autism is formed from the middle class never forcing their lazy fucking kids to ever do anything for themselves, you never see anyone with any work ethic stuck in such entitled arrested development.

Actually fuck me I'm stupid and just re read the ops post.
I was thinking of what Steak and Shake sells.

>breakfast in a hotel located in a zone with heavy japanese imigration so it was like in a japanese style
>eating fish for breakfast
>old japanese guy comes up
>'Oh how interesting a kid enjoying japanese food. Try these beans, they are very good for your health'
>looks like shit but oh well
>it was horrible and I couldn't eat it
>>
I had some green beans that made me vomit as a kid. I don’t remember why because I wasn’t particularly picky and I like green beans now. Maybe it was a texture thing

none of that happened. chili mac taste good.

caviar (the good stuff) is the most vile non vegetable I ever had.

back in college my room mate and I went hiking in the desert near the college exploring old mines and shit. at one point we stumbled on a pit with a rotting dead cow in it. it must have fallen in and either got hurt and died or could not get out and died.

my room mate started throwing rocks at the maggot infested carcass which smelled fucking disgusting.

I was worried we were going to get it on us as it was splattering everywhere.

Later when we got back to the campus at dinner time we go to stand in line at the cafeteria.

I start smelling that dead cow again. I'm looking all over me and my room mate to see where the smell is coming from. he can't figure it out either.

We are both sure people can smell us but play it cool.

We get up to the serving line and found the source of the smell.

steamed brussels sprouts.

Kids love chili, kids love mac and cheese. I refuse to believe your family went insane because of it. Make up a better story next time.

I can’t think of anything that isn’t first world problems. Probably some nasty greasy shredded cheddar burrito I made willingly. I’m still pissed about a Nashville hot chicken sandwich from a sports bar. I asked if it was good and the guy said “yeah bro I get that all the time”. Ends up being microwaved tendies with buffalo sauce on a shitty untoasted bun.

>Bought some fancy asian "milk bread" instead of usual brand
>Ate two slices with peanut butter
>The center tasted really good but the crust was strangely dry and chewy
>Later I found out every slice comes with a countoured crust-colored paper wrap around the crust
>Literally inedible camouflage that you need to strip before eating every slice
>The paper wrapping I ate eventually came out in my shits
This was partially my fault for being retarded but what the hell is the point of putting a fancy goddamn condom on every slice of bread?!

Sous vide pork knuckles.
The bag I was cooking them in leaked over night.
Imagine eating pork that's been blanched for 8 hours.
You can't until you've actually tried it, because it is one of the most uniquely revolting things I've ever tried to salvage.

Mod must be Ethiopian because he deleted my post saying how much injera sucked
Dont get butthurt because your bread is crap, moddy boy
>>
>>22147343
They’ve been heavy handed AF recently.
Now that my freedom has been restored, i wanted to tell you specifically that i feel the exact opposite about Ethiopian food!
Injera was the only thing i really liked about it, but i didn’t feel like your description was wrong. I think the texture is better than “wet mousepad” but it’s hella sour and spongey. I don’t think you did it an injustice in your story
>>
>>22147476
Appreciate your response anon. Thats funny the injera was the only thing you liked hah. You didnt like the coffee? That was the best part for me.
Injera just tastes and feels like something that is spoiled. I know some people like that, but i will never understand it. Funny enough all the Ethiopian places where i used to live also had spaghetti bolognese on their menus too. Must be that Italian influence.
>>
>>22147488
I’ve only had it a couple of times at work, my old company used to have like culture club or some shit. It was just bringing food from other cultures once a month.
Very fun though!
So i know objectively their coffee is great, but I’m getting it from local coffee shops.
The only Ethiopian place near me is 40 minutes away and i haven’t bothered to go.
The food wasn’t bad, it was like a more boring version of Indian food though. And I’ve got hella good Indian places around.

New crop of jannies from the recruiting a month or so ago, probably.

To be honest, I didn't believe you at first, and assumed you must've said something fucked that tripped one of the rules.
But I checked the archive to find your deleted post, and it's literally just a normal post with literally nothing inflammatory whatsoever. I'm sorry for doubting you.
