Anyone else prefer pho over ramen?
Literally everyone does
>>22146277Don’t most people prefer Japanese ramen?
I was going to say “that looks like the place I go to” but then I remembered that they all look like that.
>>22146273I like them both
>>22146273I find pho to be too insubstantial. For me, it's a nice rich bowl of ramen. Ramen ramen ramen.
>>22146273it's just faux ramen init?
>>22146277Not really no but I can understand why french beef broth based noodles would be more popular with a certain subset of Midwesterner
>>22146279Everyone acknowledges that ramen is made salty garbage pig water and that the clean flavors of pho are preferable.
>>22146273pho means fake. so its fake noodles? what it is shiratake? konyak? looks like guatemalan monkey intestine soup
>>22146333Trips, obviously, pho is a French cuisine derivative
>>22146273No, ramen has cleared pho in almost every circumstance. I even got mild food poisoning from a ramen place in Toronto and flavor wise it was so much better than any bowl of pho I've had.
It doesn’t matter because both dishes are Korean.
>>22146273I can't stand those fucking SEA herbs man. It tastes like someone mixed dish soap in there
>>22146273I like pho well enough but I've always found it a little underwhelming compared to its reputation, and I've had it from places that are supposed to be good. I go to a Vietnamese restaurant pretty often and rarely order pho, there's a lot of better stuff. Now obviously a pho is better than low tier ramen, instant/cup ramens and stuff, but a high quality ramen is better than pho imo.
>>22146273I like both
>>22146352sorry about your subhuman genes.
>>22146333>garbage pig water >>Beef pho was originally made using leftover beef bones, knuckles, and scraps that French colonizers and butchers discarded. The irony
>>22146358I’m sorry, did you just confuse pigs and cows? One goes moo and the other oinks.
>>22146369Garbage is garbage mon frère
>>22146351t. nonkorean
>>22146401I accept your concession that you don’t know the difference between basic farm animals, something most people learn as toddlers.
>>22146273I feel like it's hard to fuck up pho, but many places will offer ramen just to have some vague semblance of it on the menu. Ramen generally has a much richer broth, so while you'd probably be more comfortable eating pho back-to-back over ramen, ramen peaks WAY higher than any pho.
>>22146349>>22146444>clears>peaks/ck/ is a boomer board, get out
>>22146351corean eat cat
>>22146448>he's never heard of peaks and valleysGo jump in a ditch, larper.
>>22146453Ramen isn’t geography, retard
>>22146451koreans don't eat cats that's not even a thing, and that was obviously posted by a nonkorean trying to ragebait
>>22146459zoomer doesn't understand peaks and valleys
>>22146286wtf is that
>>for me it's Taiwanese beef broth soup
Pho is tremendously better than ramen, of course.
>>22146947>you have to eat all the bok choy
>>22146273I am vietnamese n i hate everything about vietnam. Fucking barbarian confucian cuckolds china mini bitches usas whores euros copycats cant even come up with own alphabet dumb fucking cunts. Fuck vietnam.Pho a shit. Japan #1.
>>22146448The future is now old man.And now.
>>22146273only contrarians think so.Good ramen beats the pants off good pho any day of the week. Pho just tastes like oily campbells soup with poor people shit thrown in.
pho rice noodles are a fun slurpy texture and women like pho, so it's good for them . ramen is very rich and they dump a lot of lard in that broth. pho is lighter, sweeter and tangy broth.. not a thick goop like ramen. for months i have been with a waitress who brings me free ramen from work, the 18 dollar shit. there's something more romantic about a pho, which i used to have with my ex girlfriend. i think deep down, ramen is for fatties and pho is for dainty people. pho isn't as filling which is a major downside. but an excellent pho broth is a wonderful thing. pho used to be cheaper but all asians have raised prices on americans. years ago a pho could be 13 bucks. now it's 15. ridiculous scams going on at these noodle houses.
>>22146273can i add soy sauce
Why don't they just call it fo
>>22147155Because it's a different language
>>22146978>euros copycatswtf
No.
>>22147156Different from what, if it was translated to American it would just be "noodle soup" or something
>>22147168American isn't a language
>>22146273No shit. Japanese food is bland slop, Viet cuisine is goated.
>>22146273Soup is for poor people, and they did NOT beat us in a war btw
>>22146277What an utterly idiotic thing to say
>>22146273>Plain broth that only tastes like cilantro and basilNo thanks.
>>22147156not in english it isnt
>>22146273Nope, rice noodles in soup dishes are fucking awful and ruin the entire dish. When I make it, I always use egg noodles.
>>22146978If you are truly Vietnamese you would know that the gap between a Viet with high standards and one with low standards is massive. We are capable of creating and producing good things with the right leadership and team
>>22147321Every country says the same shitI look at results, not wordsVietnam is not a new countryIt has existed for thousands of yrsWe know what kinda country n ppl viets rTime 4 u 2 stop drinking the koolaid
>>22147164The writing script was a French-Portuguese invention and there's quite a bit of French influence in the cuisine. They love laughing cow cheese in a baguette too.I've had Hanoi Champagne that was pretty good.
>>22146273Wood do them both at the same time.
>>22147155Because it's a weird regional phonetic spelling of "feu" ie "pot au feu" but made with literal garbage thrown out by the french overlords they were imitating
>>22146438Nigga shut the fuck up, you fucking retard. It's embarrassing to read your shit.
>>22147369Calm down and get on the short bus, Billy
>>22146273Contrarians, thirdies and thirdworldists do. Do you think you are in good company?
>>22147408tbf that anon was invoking /pol/debate-me "rules". One step removed from sea lion-ing.It doesn't deserve a serious or respectful response. Despite being technically correct.
what's the best ramen to order? there are too many regional variants.we already know the best pho order is the number 1 "train" that includes all the meats.
The dishes aren't even remotely comparable, aside from both being soup. Pho emphasizes herbal flavors and a spiced broth, Ramen tends to be heartier and focuses on the richness of its broth. There are other Vietnamese soups which offer a far more direct comparison to Ramen than Pho, and Pho doesn't really have a counterpart in Japanese cuisine. Ironically I like both Vietnamese and Japanese food the most amongst Asian cuisine for their use of fresh ingredients, but they share very little in common with each other.
>>22146273There are many differences between the 2. But if we were honest, the only difference of value is whether you prefer beef broth or pork broth. No, the other broth base are out of the question and shouldn't add chicken broth to your pho, either. At the end of the day, both are good but beef or pork should be the only decider.
>>22146273Of course I do.
>>22146273I prefer both.
If it weren't for naruto, ramen wouldn't have 10% of it's popularity. Pho got up there only by it's flavour.
Bun Bo Hue mogsThe only good ramen is tonkatsu, all the other styles suck
>>22146947I love a good beef noodle soup, especially if it's spicy.
>>22149359>prefer>bothesl?
>>22149991That means he prefers them equally over one or the other ESL-kun.
real ones know the superior asian soup is tom yum
