Is cold pasteurization of food with ionizing radiation good for you?

>>22146427Yeah, it's fine. Cobalt-60 is a gamma emitter, it would only "ionize" you if you were standing in front of it. The gamma radiation passes through the food and kills any bacteria in it, which makes that food a hell of a lot safer to eat than food which hasn't been pasteurized. You aren't gonna get diarrhea parasites or salmonella or botulism from treated food, unlike say the lettuce that's been going around or the jalapenos that some Mexican crapped all over.

Yes. If it was universal, nobody would have problems with ecoli, salmonella etc. Irradiated raspberries and other fast molding fruits actually last a week or so. Stores often get whole flats that are already moldy on delivery. So it saves on shrink too. But people are stupid and think they're going to get radiation from the food.>>22148804
